I love Fiskars. I have the X27 and X25. I've come to appreciate shorter handles the past few years so the X25 is more favorable for me. I usually half or quarter big rounds with my Fiskars 8-pound Isocore maul and go to the axe to finish splitting. I highly recommend the Isocore splitting maul, if you don't have one. Its nice to have on hand. Hemlock is very knotty and some of the grain can be gnarly.

I do have the Isocore…and love it too. I have gravitated more towards the x27….have not tried the x25 yet.
