Fishing With Jigs Soft Swim Baits For Snook Catching Keepers

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Bridges hold loads of snook in Florida, especially at night. This video will teach you how to catch snook on jigs and soft swim bait lures around any place where there are light and shadow areas.
I'm really starting to like fishing with jigs. I actually lose a slot sized fish in this video on a chartreuse and red one. I have a technique for retrieving them that continues to work for hooking into big fish. In this video I communicate how I am fishing with the jig when a big slot snook hits it.
Here's the link to the video that explains how to fish for snook around bridges at night: • How To Catch Snook Aro...
Catching snook around bridges is a challenge. You have to have the right gear. I this video the first slot sized fish I lost was on a medium heavy "Big Water" Ugly Stick 7' 6" rod paired with a Penn Pursuit 2 6000 reel.
Here is a link to the reel:

The rod is available at Walmart.
When I make videos I like to give plenty of how to information. One things that really annoys me is when people make videos where fish are being caught and they don't reveal the methods they were using or the lures they were fishing with. I continue to be consistent in revealing snook fishing secrets with every video I publish.
The way I fish jigs and soft swim baits for snook at night around bridges is basically the same. Here are some tips:
1. Cast the lure diagonal to the bridge shadow created from the street light.
2. Let the swim bait or jig sink to the bottom.
3. Crank two to three fast cranks and let the lure fall to the bottom. Instantly crank two to three times again when it hits bottom. Continue your retrieve using this pattern.
I've had five keeper snook hooked up on lures since the season opened a couple of months ago. It's not easy catching a slot sized snook. Of the five keepers I've hooked, I landed two of them. The three keepers that got away were all right next to the seawall. I lost them when I was reaching down to pull them out of the water.
I just started fishing with jigs and soft swim baits for snook this year. So far I've had really good luck with both of them. Watch all of my playlist on snook fishing and you will get inside information on how to catch these game fish on lures and on live bait.

Hey David, thanks for sharing. Yeah, the person who gave me beginner instructions on how to fish with jigs told me to use a loop knot. It's a little tricky to get the right length sometimes, but during snook season I get plenty of practice!

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, there are a ton of fish on that bride, but there are some good spots to fish from the shore too! Check out my playlist for snook fishing. You'll see a lot of bank fishing where I catch the heck out of snook too! I'm going to take a trip to the east coast when they move to the inlets, hoping to connect with a fellow KZreadr and make that happen.

Cool thx. On your next off night.. You should try and free line a live blue crab. They can be found on a strong outgoing tide or after a storm. Take the claws off and use a 2.0 mustad d circle hook. Hard for them to resist a 2 inch pealer...snook candy. If the current is ripping use a split shot to get in the kill zone. Tight lines to ya sir.

It's nice to finally catch a keeper snook. When they are that size they fight really good when you are at ground level. I was very fortunate that the keeper didn't swim toward the bridge pilings. I fought him in open water the entire time. I am considering getting a bridge net. I think I'd land a lot more fish that way.

I visit Panama City Fl. every year. I was born there. There great fishing in the panhandle. Catching snook from the bridge is fun, but you don't experience how powerful the really are unless it's a big one. When you catch one from a boat or the seawall the fight is really intense. Looks like I'm going to have to invest in some sort of light for filming at night. The bridge lights are good, but when there's little light, the video lacks the quality I desire to deliver. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment Luis. It's that bridge near the inner coastal waterway where the road goes over it. Seriously man, I don't ever tell people where I fish. Thanks for being a subscriber. You can catch fish like this at any major bridge in south Florida. Snook always hang out where there's light at night and structure. You just have to get out there and find some good fishing spots. Ninety percent of the good fishing holes I fish I found on my own from trying new places. Find your own spots and don't tell anyone and you'll catch fish for a lifetime!

I totally understand. In my area, "any" major bridge holds fish. I'd definitely suggest fishing early morning, very early and start a couple hours before sunset until dark. You know, the usual best hours to fish. Right now the snook are up in the creeks, huge snook, some stragglers in the inner coastal water way, but a lot are in the creeks. In my video library I have footage from all of the major bridges in my area, catching fish, good ones too!
