Wow.. Everything from the fish to the bait and even the lake setup is so different from my area here in the States... We fish for big Bass and anything else we catch is by accident only..Most anglers use bass boats here or stay home...

Hi Graeme, a method you might want to consider when there is a bit of a breeze is the lift method. I use it fairly regularly for catching all sorts of fish (more on that later) on windy pools as you get extremely sensitive indication and don't get dragged around by the wind. I start with a rubber float stop (or a sliding stop knot in deep water) threaded onto the main line, next comes a very light 1-2g bodied waggler followed by another float stop (the float is fished sliding, the second stop is just to prevent casting tangles), I then attach my hooklength to the main line with a 4 turn water knot making sure to leave the tag ends on the knot for the time being, the hooklength wants to end up about 4" long if fishing over a hard bottom and up to 6" if silty. I apply one or two swan shot (SSG) to the tag ends of the hooklength and then trim off the excess, you can put them on the main line if you want I just prefer not to damage the line, the important thing is to have enough weight to bury the float completely. You then cast out and keep sliding that top stopper up or down until the float is cocked (standard plumbing-up), I tend to set it so the float is about an inch higher in the water at rest so you can tighten down to adjust sensitivity or slacken off to counter wind tow. When you get a bite the anchoring shot will be lifted off the bottom and you'll get the most exaggerated lift bite you're ever likely to see, the float will shoot up like a submarine periscope and lay over on its side. So far this year that method has accounted for two roach over the 2lb mark (2lb 4oz biggest), a 2lb 10oz crucian, a 6lb 8oz tench, an 8lb bream and a 2lb perch for myself and they haven't been from fancy waters that are renowned for their specimens either. I really do whole heatedly recommend the method and hope it works out as well for you as it has for me. (if I've not explained it well enough then let me know and I'll send you a picture or something) All the best

The brackets are entirely necessary otherwise I would have to throw in a whole bunch of extra sentences in order to reach the same level of content. In review I could probably drop one of the bracketed sections but being that it is an instructional post rather than a story I feel that they do not detract from the content, a better solution may have been breaking it up into numbered steps but that ends up with a massively long post which is hard to read on mobile devices

Yet another great video. Just one thing though (oh-oh I hear you say). Out of all your video's regarding floats, you haven't mentioned or used a float ledger set-up, not that I've noticed anyway,I'm talking about the Polaris and/or Loc-Slide floats. Do you have any plans together with your young learner of a son to make a video on these?...or perhaps do a challenge with one using a 'normal' float and the other using float ledgering tactics?

Light rod anything from 0.5-15g/20g is still light enough to enjoy good sport. I recommend baiting fish up close in with bread, it will help to attract numbers of fish and increase the chance of you catching one (plus bread is cheap). Small hooks too. Hope you catch - Mike

Danijela Ivezić in the few days I've been here I've only caught 1 fish and lost another 2 close in to shore. For smaller fish I used bread but the 1 time I used limpets (the shells on the rocks) I caught a nice bream, unfortunately it fell off close in after an epic battle. Note bream have really boney mouths so you need to strike hard if your fishing with bigger hooks and limpets
