Starlo, just to tell, after another one of my inevitable long dry spells. I tried this morn, a different tack. Applying my Daiwa 2500 reel with straight through flouro of 4lb instead of my other Daiwa with 10lb leader. Immediate results were noticed. At one of my fave spots up the creeks in Mid North Coast, I got this morn a Luderick on a paddle tail!! But get this it was a beast, going 44cm. I went home thinking I had caught a fish of a lifetime. The net burst this bubble, as they apparently can be upwards of 70cm and around 4 kg my fish however was the biggest Luderick I’ve seen, and I was pretty awestruck by it. Another thing, I put it back, a change has come in my fishing to this end. Past sessions would have always seen me returning with a fish like this as if it were a prize. Now I enjoy seeing many of my quarry returning to their environs. Stay well Starlo. Loving the content. Don’t know what we would do without you.😊

Good stuff! 44 is a very decent lud’, especially on a lure! I’ve never seen one over about 52. There’s a short video of me catching my “PB” luderick (on weed and float) here on my channel if you have a search. Anyway, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content! 👍
Well played Sir

Great video as always Starlo. I have been putting your tips for lures into practice the last few weeks and have been rewarded with more, and larger, flathead than I would typically get.

Very good and useful lessons. Thanks. My go to hardbodied lures are North Craft Air Ogres. They have varying actions affected by rate of retrieve, varying depths, differing sink rates, sizes and colour schemes that seem to work and trick the fish to bite. More often though, I use plastics these days and since following your tips, my catch rate has improved.

Cool!
Great insight into how lures work and everything in between starlo and also people who are new to lure fishing will have a problem with the lures buying them not buying the lures cause the colours will catch the fishermen more then the fish when starting off lure fishing 😂😂

I'm land based so i'm somewhat limited in my options but i've noticed i'll get the manic and less cagey small bream on hard bodies when i'm fishing deeper waters from a jetty or something. But all my wise old big bream have come on soft plastics.... it's more intuitive for me to waft it up in the water column and then let it sit and wiggle its tail. I can imagine a fish watching what my lure is doing and choosing to bite or not with a soft plastic. With the limited water coverage and depth i can get from the shore its hard to figure out retrieve rates and actions to impart on a hard body before it's at my feet again. I tend to resort to a medium retrieve with some twitches and typically that has attracted small bream or the occasional more aggressive feeder like a herring.... i can't get a feel for it and still feel like i'm fishing blind with hard bodies.

@@StarloGetsReel I'm pretty new to lure fishing so I will stick with what is working for me for now. But i'll no doubt revisit this video and topic at a later date to flesh out my arsenal further. I love this content btw.... these light tackle lure fishing videos are invaluable.
Enjoyed that Starlo.Would circle hooks work on lures instead of trebles?😊
@StarloGetsReel

Thanks! Circle hooks aren’t ideal on lures, especially hard bodied. Circles rely on the fish taking the bait into their mouth, turning and swimming away. Too many opportunities in that process for a fish to spit out a hard lure.

Should i get a Shimano Anarchy or a Tcurve for an allround rod for lure fishing?

Not much in it, to be honest. Whichever one fots your budget will be a great rod.
