Fishing When Its HOT! ( Let's Find These Bass! )

Спорт

Come along on a hot July afternoon as we do some Summer bass fishing on Lake Chickamauga. Think you can't catch them when its hot? Think again! Watch as we break down the lake, build several patterns, and catch fish both deep and shallow despite the heat.
Summer bass fishing doesn't have to be tough. We know where the bass are positioning, its just a matter of getting them to bite. Matt begins by developing a solid offshore pattern. Once he's confident he can keep catching fish he completely shifts gears, moves shallow and starts the process over. Before long, he's got two solid patterns in completely different areas, and both are producing nice quality fish.
Today was a "junk fishing" day. Matt caught fish on all sorts of different baits. Below you'll find links to every bait that caught a fish. We've included favorite colors and weights as well as some of the rod and reel combos he was using to get the job done. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Chick's my home lake...great to see you fishing it. It's cool to see you holding the bass more vertically; I think there's a lot of proof coming through that using their mouth to hold them almost horizontal can break their jaws and lead to higher mortality rates. We want to keep catching these beauties!

Always fun hooking into a drum while bass fishing. Those things are brutes. Here in Texas, there are a number of freshwater lakes with Redfish in them. I was throwing a finesse rig one day and hooked into a 28" redfish. Talk about exciting!

A freshwater drum taste better than all those and most people don’t realize they taste better. They need to be on the smaller side to be good. They taste similar to crappie if they’re the same size. Those electronics make a world of difference- they make fishing so much easier. Here's a phrase you hear quiet often "let the fish tell you..." - well when you don't have electronics that gets real tricky. If you're not getting bit- are the fish "telling" you something or- are the fish just not around? You'll never know. Another game changer- the range he has, look how much water he's covered- try that in a kayak, with nothing but a paddle. It's a good paddle- one of the best, but it's still just a paddle- and you aint covering no where near this much water using it. You also aren't gonna be able to hold yourself steady somewhere off shore to fish- not happening. The trolling motor it would take to make that happen costs close to ten times what my kayak costed- before i would buy it, I would buy a better boat.

This has me optimistic. Just move to NW Arkansas and the fishing has been rough for me. I am in a kayak with no electronics so that doesn't help me but it is so different from the muddy vegetation filled lakes and ponds I am used to. The fish I catch have been tiny and I have to really be fishing slow bottom contact to get them (only been able to catch them on texas rigged creature baits). I miss the days where I could go out and only throw a frog and still catch a bunch of decent sized bass. If anyone reads this and has the scoop, please fill me in because I am struggling.

You do a good job of trying to relay how long you’ve been doing what but it would be cool to have the video time stamp so I could see if it’s been 10min since the last fish or 10 hours 🤘🏻

I’m fishing in AZ with semi clear water. Still can’t figure out the pattern when it jumps from 55 at sunrise to 90+ within hours

mornings till this week were fire at castaic. this week though i noticed even the mornings are tough. ya there is dinks in shallows. but not the 2lbs like i was catching last month. also last month i saw a ton of hogs.. though the water is going down 170 feet this year here. so i wonder if it was fire just because the water was dropping at least 1.5 feet per day. and now maybe its starting to be around where they want it. not sure. but from the banks for me. summer and winter. sucks. though i been doing good this summer. this week it feels like its back to regular. i went this afternoon from 12-5. got only one. saw some random fish boils just one here and there but they were just dinks. went yesterday morning. got 3, 2 super dinks and one around 2lb but then nothing. all were super early well the lake open here at sun up so cant really fish the hour before sun up.
