Hi, Adam! A couple of questions for you. First, is there any significant difference in which end of the casting bubble you would put on the line facing the fly? I.e., pointy end toward the fly/round end toward the top of the water vs. round end toward the fly/pointy end toward the top of the water. In essence, I'm wondering if the casting bubble can be used as double duty to add weight to the cast and as a float at the same time. Second, is there a link or video that you can suggest to show how to tie a fly onto the line? I just finished watching the Handline Fishing Basics playlist and you mentioned the arbor knot in one video but there was no link to show how to tie that knot. Thanks!

Hey Geordon! I personally haven't noticed much difference, but I believe the A-Just-a-Bubble recommends the narrow end towards the fishing rod, larger end towards the fly. It can definitely be used both to add weight to the line and as a float at the same time. You can also cast other lures with it, like the rubber grubs included in the kit. Regarding the knot, I use an arbor knot to tie the line to the rod, which you shouldn't have to tie until you replace your line. To tie the fly to the line, I typically an imporved clinch knot. Video tutorials for both are available on the excellent "Animated Knots by Grog" website here: Improved Clinch Knot: www.animatedknots.com/improved-clinch-knot Arbor Knot: www.animatedknots.com/arbor-knot

@@DaggerfishGear Ooo, Animated Knots is fantastic! I had forgotten about that site, but I used it a number of years back to learn some knots when my son was in Boy Scouts and I was an assistant leader. I haven't gotten out to use my Daggerfish Reel yet, but I'm hoping to get out to the lake this week and see what I can catch.
