Fishing on a Private Farm... Then THIS happened! 😯

Ойын-сауық

I got special permission to go fishing on a beautiful farm stream, and something very unexpected happened! Fishing this small river in the snow was great fun and I get the feeling this place still holds a few more secrets. I don't do much grayling fishing but i'm starting to really love it as a winter fishing idea. I do plenty of lure fishing, pike fishing, perch fishing, trout fishing etc but a bit of this is really helping me bring you all some varied content especially when canals and stillwaters are frozen!
If you enjoyed this video i'd really appreciate it if you hit that like button, and subscribe if you want to see more from Adventure Fishing UK. It really helps me out! Drop a comment too and i'll get back to you as soon as I can. Hope you enjoyed the little how to catch grayling clip, but remember i'm no coarse angler so take it with a pinch of salt!
Huge thanks to Luke Furness who managed to get me permission to have a go here. I know it's cheeky of me to ask, but if anyone reading this is lucky enough to have permission/know any landowners which allow them to fish anywhere different, private, unique or interesting i'd love to hear about it, and if you're interested i'd love to come for a fish/film. A bit of backstory behind a venue makes for really fun viewing! I can guarantee i'll keep the location hush hush!
Now you may have heard me mention/see the name Gerrys in the video. Just to let you know they're my local tackle shop in Morecambe (and a great one at that) and i'm going to be working with them a bit going forward, so you may see the name cropping up a bit more! You can find the website here: www.gerrysfishing.com/
Remember, you can get 10% off anything on the rigged and ready travel rods website using discount code AFUK10 including the rod reel and line used here from: riggedandready.net/
You can visit 4cast clothing, the clothing brand me and my mate Harry started, here: 4castclothing.com/
Thanks for watching, and hopefully i'll see you here for the next video!

    @@adventurefishinguk no worries at all and certainly no need to thank me. I reckon I speak for a massive amount of viewers (plus I'm sure your channel will explode over time). Virtually everyone who goes fishing does it for the love of being outdoors, going to new places, taking time out from the hustle and bustle of life, and if we're really lucky, we might even catch a fish or 2. You're clearly a smashing fisherman so I'm certainly not questioning your ability, but what me and my friends love about your vids is the level of honesty. I think so many people can relate to that kinda stuff as it's 100% authentic. Like going fishing and having limited tackle with you, then putting your hands up and saying I'm not too good at float fishing anyway. Brilliant stuff. Keep doing what you're doing and keep being yourself. Sometime, hopefully soon, your vids will get a real bit of traction and truly go viral. You deserve it 100%. You're flying the flag for the regular guy who just has a passion for fishing

Dead easy and really fast set up. Just float down river and make depth adjustments as ya go 👍

    Gotta be my favourite fish has the grayling man. Just nothing else compares to them. Yano that leger stop thingy you used. They can put a kink in the line. I remember using them when I was a kid. But now Drennan do some large gripper stops i thinkt theyre called. Basically float rubbers but larger. I use them as a leger/feeder stop. They dont damage the line and are much easier to move up anddown the line. Plus, if you do get snagged, it's not fixed like the ones you were using. Making me wanna go catch grayling now I've not had chance to get out recently.

    😢Wrong way round. Looked to me like a fine wee stream screaming out to be shallow-trotted, that's how you can cover most every yard of the stretch whereas on a cold day it's an inefficient tedious business to sit with a single anchored bait. Chances are with trotting, at this time of year you'd have found a shoal of these instead of odd singletons. If you're weak at a major method the answer is to concentrate on it so you widen your skill set, not keep it restricted by avoiding it... Trotting is easy if your eyesight is up to seeing a small float tip. It explores the water very well. I been doing this for nearly 65 years so my impressions are based on plenty of doing-it - and sometimes doing-it WRONG. Which I always tried not to repeat! Tight lines youngster.

    Big dorsal fin = Male Grayling. But why didn't you give if a sniff? You should have. They smell of thyme. Hence their latin name. _Thymallus thymallus._ And the colours on Grayling are stunning. I can only like it to having a light oil poured over them when you catch their flanks and dorsal fin in the sunlight.

    Nice fish , I think you were fishing upstream at one point , I've always thought I should fish downstream when legering , as then , hopefully , there is a straight line through to the rod tip , I was thinking if you fish upstream , the fish will feel the weight before the rod tip indicates ?? . I think you chose the right approach , there didn't look to be enough water for trottiing , worth learning - especially with a centre pin . Tight lines .

  • @adventurefishinguk

    @adventurefishinguk

    Thanks mate! The weight was free running so a bit would be indicated either way, and I tried not to fish directly upstream but on an angle 👍 I’ve definitely got a lot to learn though especially on the float fishing side of things!

    Nice video BUT, you know, fishing alone on snowy banks, you are risking things. Slip and fall in and you are in real trouble..and you wouldn't be the first to die doing what you were doing! Its not worth the fish, so my advice is to think safety before targeting where you think the fish are!
