Fishing nets under the ice. Dec.2020. #41
It has been very warm winter, so the ice on the lake is not so good. That's why we are able to put the fishing nets under the ice until now. There is ice about 20 cm, but half of it is frozen snow with water. Now it's warmer again and water comes top of the ice.
We have this wooden board with spring to take the nets from hole to hole under the ice. It's working quite good. We have also other one to use, Russian made "Sputnik", it's operates with batteries and there is lights like a rainbow... But there is something wrong with the steering, which we must fix.
This is filmed in the darkest day of the year, winter solstice and only 2.5 h day light.

The light is a good idea, will need a stronger bulb for thicker ice.

Yes, it's simple and easy. But usual there is too much snow to see the light. We have upgraded it to battery operated with rolling wheels 😊

the water is wet
I've never seen a 'jigger' like that, that's what we call those in Canada, are these type of jiggers available anywhere in Canada?

Sorry, we missed your mail.. If you mean by "jigger" ...this "uitto lautta" = board under the ice. Sure they have it, if you put nets under the ice. We also have Russian type of thing SPUTNIK, which operates with batteries and has blinking lights...😃😃 But it didn't last long 😂
