Can’t beat molehill soil for winter, 50-50 on the pole with a fine black groundbait

Hello Jamie, We all know that the fish slow down when the water temperature drops and their appetite decreases. Betaine is know as a feeding stimulant as opposed to a attractant, what are your thoughts on the use of such additives. Also the use of ground baits. there are so many on the market but what actually goes into making ground bait. I would suspect most of it is bulking agent of some sorts and what sort of percentages of other items go into the ground baits. Your ground bait video's were great but it would be nice to delve a little bit deeper into this subject. Many thanks, Malc Randall.

Thanks for your good tips Jamie. Here's another one from me. Make sure you have nice warm clothes. Use several layers of clothing. And wish everyone a lot of fish. 👍👍👍

Strange as it may be but use silk underwear, silk is the ultimate thermal layer

When testing for depth what equates to each second as the feeder drops? 1 second = ? feet? As usual very enjoyable and well presented video.

Hello, what´s your position on using the chair over the seatbox, especialy in colder months, i find myself using it more and more because the waiting time is larger and it´s far confortable to seat and suport the back. Really like your videos and sugestions that help a lot.Thank you.

Hi Jamie . Thanks a lot for the video . Nothing has been mentioned about hook lengths …. How would you change that in winter . Would you elongate your standard 4” for method ? How long ( in general ) would you go with cage feeder ? Many thanks Luke

For carp when its really cold scaling down is not the answer when hair rigging baits as you need your hooklengh to be stiff to create a rig thats hard for the fish to reject once sucked in. If you are straight hooking mags then scaling down could be the answer. Bomb and bread is pretty much unbeatable in this situation when the carp are not interested in any feed, I've won several matches feeding nothing and searching the swim. For good sized carp one massive tip I can give with bomb and bread is you need large discs of bread ie 10mm minimum x 3 dont be worried to try even bigger discs and make sure your hair is long enough once the bread has swollen, you with be surprised how long it needs to be. Warburton toastie thick slice orange wrapper is the best by far. Test in a bait tube at home so you know its right. Fishing to islands single or double dead red mag is unbeatable if silver's are not causing problems, if they are try corn or meat, meat take on dyes brilliantly. Obviously mini boiles etc are other options. sieved fishmeal groundbait is a must as you don't want any big bits. For big carp using a small method feeder is not right unless you are searching open water. For island fishing you want to be using a medium method as you are potentially leaving it in the water for 30mins plus. I've caught good weights of carp fishing to the same spot to islands even on the coldest of days, but just make sure you sieve your groundbait, plenty of attraction with pretty much zero feed.

Hi Rikki. Sieving groundbait compared to grinding it In a mill ?

@@ukaszpiotrowski1252 hi mate it's easier to sieve the groundbait You won't need alot for a winter session. Even groundbaits that look fine to the eye will still have some bigger bits in. All the bigger bits you can save for for the summer or when it warms up.

@@ukaszpiotrowski1252 tbh I've never milled groundbait. On waters that respond to bread in winter using liquidized bread in a cage feeder or on a method can also work really well
