Fishing In Mangroves: How To Catch More Redfish, Snook & Trout

Ойын-сауық

Mangroves are some of the best places to catch fish.
They've got everything predator fish need:
- Cover to stay safe from predators
- Baitfish and crustaceans to eat
However, they can be tricky to fish if you don't know what you're doing.
It's very easy to get snagged in the limbs and roots, plus some sections of the mangroves will hold more fish than others, so you could be in a dead zone and not even know it.
In this video, you're going to learn:
- The two places within a mangrove shoreline that hold the most fish
- The best lures to use (and why lures can outfish live bait here)-
- What to look for when drifting a mangrove shoreline
- And much more
If you want to get better at catching fish around mangrove shorelines, check out this video.

Skipping under the trees is the money shot, they are often WAY under there especially under high tide. Check the area at low tide and see if there are any creeks, drains or lower/deeper areas, those will hold more fish even on higher tide levels.

Mangroves are one of my favorite fishing spots in Florida( I fish around Marco island). The bugs mate it impossible to fish, even with bug spray.

Can you do a video on how to navigate up river in the mangroves on your boat? Like how to identify where the deeper areas/channels are when there are no markers? I am always worried I'll run aground trying to go deep up in the mangroves.

Is it more important to get up under the trees once the sun is up vs going across those points?

This guy is dead on. If you use a trolling motor and repeatedly throw any lure to a bank, dock, oyster bed, rocks, etc you will catch fish, quality fish.

Why don't you try using a hookless (or a cut hook point) lure? Even a practice lure made with a champagne cork with a little ring screw will do. And keep your casts under control, applying casting force a bit at a time. Hope it helps!

Why are you both fishing the bow of the boat? All that does is result in lines crossing and tangles. Especially if one person hooks up, that fish can easily take your line into the other guys line if he is fishing next to you. Why aren't one of you fishing off the back of the boat?
