Fishing for Trophy Northern Pike at Reindeer Lake, Saskatchewan Canada

We spent a week at Reindeer Lake Lodge in Northern Saskatchewan (Canada) fishing for monster northern pike.
We caught 41 trophies -- pike over 40" long -- in the eight days of our trip. Good memories. Here are a few of the moments I managed to catch on video.
Did we fish for anything other than northern pike?
- Yep! Walleye and lake trout were the other main species. The walleye was absolutely delicious--best fish of the trip. Northern pike was a close second. The lake trout was not my favorite, but it was far from bad!
Did we catch any grayling?
- didn't try for arctic grayling on this trip -- perhaps next time...
What did we fish with?
- plastic lures like pike and trout minnows
- spinners
- spoons
- weedless spoons
Dave & Wanda run an outstanding lodge. It's definitely worth checking out if you're interested in a trip like this!

I have watched countless You Tube videos on Canadian fishing and your ability to tell a story as well as watch a story is amazing. I love the way you did this and it is like reading an enjoyable book to go along with an awesome video as well. Nice work. I'm subscribed!!

Awesome to see this beautiful place and massive fish. Gotta mention the lake is roughly 200 x60 miles and huge 700 foot deep bay at south end from meteorite hit centuries ago. Maybe someday...

You’re welcome-glad you enjoyed it, and I’m glad it brought back some good memories for you! We didn’t spend much time fishing for lake trout on this trip but I did catch a handful of medium-sized ones. They hit hard! I’ll have to check out Deep Bay next time.

That’s awesome-it’s hard to imagine being disappointed with the fishing up there from my experience! The lodge was a nice respite and the evening shower always felt nice, so it might be worth trying one out if you make it back up there.

How was the summer temperatures? How bad were the mosquitoes?

Temperatures fluctuated quite a bit. Cold in the mornings, but as the sun came out you were usually down to short sleeves or a sun shirt. I’d say the mosquitoes were tolerable. Definitely there, but long sleeves helped quite a bit. If they got too bad, it was easy to move to a new spot to avoid them for a while-the lake is huge!

Do NOT go to Reindeer lake trout camp. We booked a trip here last summer and my dad was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to go. They still haven't refunded our money after saying they'd have it back to us in a month or so. They run a shady business
