FISHING EXPERIMENT: Best Winter Bait??? (Lures vs. Minnows vs. Worms)

Спорт

Winter fishing experiment to determine which bait is most effective for catching fish in freezing conditions! With ice covering most of the river leaving only a small section of fishable water, I test out lures vs. minnows vs. nightcrawlers vs. mealworms to see which bait can catch fish during this trick time of year!

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzread.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

Fish Finder At bass pro or even Walmart they sell steel wire leaders. If you are fishing for pickerel, their teeth won’t cut that. You could also use 50-100 lbs mono leader as well. Down here in South Carolina, we have bowfin, gar, and pickerel, and many folks use leaders. Losing lures stinks. Hope I can help

oh yeah I am totally aware of the steel leaders. I have so many of them and typically use them for salt water bluefish. I was trying to use very light flouro leaders because the steel would change the sinking action of the lures I am using. I appreciate your suggestions

The tide isn't a mystery sometimes high tide is at three or four other times it's 1 or 2. The tide levels fluxuate depending on days and time, high tide on a given day is higher on other days. Great video man, it's hopefully as cold as it's going to get this winter already.

Here in Cali we're still catching 2-4 lb largemouth in 70 degree weather. It's a chilly 40 degrees in early morning though. That's cold af for us
