In this video, we fished the Upper Owens in the morning, but had very little success so we decided to fish Convict Lake and it paid off.
Жүктеу.....

Kia Ora from NZ. Fantastic to see Mammoth lakes again :) in the early 1980s I was there. BEAUTIFUL place. I walked up that mountain in your video & fished the creeks. Don't want to be a no at at all. Sorry :( Good idea when walking thru dense trees. Hold your rod but forward. Saves knocking the tip off & if you slip the but don't break. I learned the hard way. Maybe you could fly fish those small creeks. I bet you'd hook more fish than heaving metal at them? Thanks for showing you video. Really took me back to a real wonderful place in the world. PS. Full Respect. On releasing your fish. All the very best to you. Nga mihi ( best regards)

Good to see you handle the fish well, I always am afraid of watching anyone I've not seen before. Too many people don't treat trout delicately enough. The other guy who was holding the fish out of water and looked like he was wrenching the hook out, I'm not too sure about that guy. Could have just been an illusion but I definitely appreciate anyone who treats them how they need to be treated. That water at Convict Lake is ridiculous. I'm not surprised it was a bit tough. Even with a lot of fish, water that clear is hard to fool them in. I would bet with a dry dropper fly fishing rig you could have done some damage, but hey, you caught some fish. Or a tiny indicator and tandem nymph. Even then when it's that clear, you just can't expect to slam them.

Thanks for the comment, we try our best to practice safe releases, it's something we value a lot. We tried briefly with the fly rod, but the trees were a big pain. Even trying to roll cast there wasn't enough room in most places.

At a very certain section beneath the crossing you are able to. Always check the regulations, they always change.

What are you using as bait, or are you using lures? I just can't see in the video.
