Fishing & Camping Northern WI Turtle Flambeau Flowage

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

On today's episode of Wisconsin Fisherman we are camping on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage near Park Falls WI. We started off the journey by seeing a deer swim across a small channel both Sydnee and I have NEVER seen a deer swim so that was really cool! We found a very nice campsite referred to as F2 if you want to check it out! Then the relaxing began!

A great uncle was a foreman for logging that area back in the late 1800's, it is what it is. The forests have made a great comeback anyway.

Miss Northern Wisconsin so much... My parents bought a Cabin on North Turtle Lake when I was little and we would go up during to Summers to Fish, Swim, Boat, Sail, Sun and relax.. such good memories with relatives. and In the Winter time also to Ski up in the peninsula. I was a spoiled Korean adopted boy.

Used to make a semi annual trip there. The true hidden gem of Wisconsin. If you ever go back if you hang a left out of that channel from the landing and go back into that little bay around sunset you can find a mess of smallies. Never had much luck with they eyes and turtle so you definitely had a good plan of your own there.

Yeah it can get tricky sometimes, a lot of the good spots are taken by people who go there regularly. I personally like the set of sites on off the south east side of the big island just before you go under the low bridge. Great sun sets or sun rises depending on what side you set up on. But I know on the north side of the flowage they use weedless jigs on slip bobber fishing stumps for some of the bigger eyes. Never got it to go for myself cause I'm more of an active style kinda guy. Well good luck to ya and have fun!

I was at this very same camp site last summer. Mid July. and camp was just getting over run with bear every night... we put all the food stuff in the coolers and put the coolers out in the boat and pushed the boat out into the lake very night and anchored it off shore to keep our stuff from the bear(s) . We thought it was one bear. In hind site it was more like 5 different bears just making the rounds... we used fishing line around the outside of our camping area and tied it to some enpty bean cans for our bear alarm. There was no way to sleep at night.... they would just keep coming every hour and half or so.... the bugs were bad, we didn't get any sleep and it rained the last two days of our stay so we had to pack up wet.... it was miserable. #airbnb !!

So I really like your video very informative looks like a great place to go camping I’m trying to find an answer to a question about this lake. It looks a lot like the lakes up in boundary waters and Quetico however They are canoe and kayak only. you had deep v aluminum boat with a mercury 90. Is the lake deep enough to go fast or are there to many tree stumps? Are there marinas to get gas? I was also thinking about charging the batteries are you aloud to bring in a generator to charge the trolling motor batteries. I have a Ranger Reata and we are trying to find a place up north to take my boat instead of canoeing.

i was at that exact camp site mid June. water level was certainly higher in June as well. mosquitoes weren't great but were tolerable. the worst part was the mayfly hatch. really messed up the fishing. my go to bay was still filled with pike though. if u get a chance, come back in September..... less bugs, amazing fall colors in the trees, the musky fishing gets better, and clear nights open up more stars than ull ever see. just beware, the water level tends to drop enough to reveal more hazards.

@@jakelepak8548 unfortunately no, pretty much all snakes. I've never seen a big one come out of there. 30" or so is about the biggest. although this last outing, almost every pike had a distinctive wound on them that looked like they had been attacked. so there's something in there trying to feed on 25-30"pike. possibly musky but maybe bigger pike as well
