Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzread.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
I like when you show the lowlights along with the highlights. Backlash, lure in the tree. That’s how I roll. You’re the best John!

I think that's how we all role! If you're not getting hung up and losing lures, you're not fishing in the right places. ...and who doesn't backlash.

'Lure in the tree'..I'm busting up so funny, cuz I been there/done that.
My Dad could cast an old bait caster anywhere he wanted and I never saw a rats nest. Not me, I can’t master it. His old reel and 4’ pole is hanging on my wall, under his bamboo fly pole. Great memories just looking at them. I lost Dad 3 years ago. He was a great man who taught me how to love fishing!
Man I have been blowing people's minds for years with the fish I have pulled out of creeks. You truly are a man after my own heart. Creek fisherman for life!
It always amazes me how big some of these fish are in these small creeks and ponds that you fish. Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks to ALL your other videos, we already know what kinda fish are in those creeks😎

Today is my 77th birthday. Nowadays I fish for striped bass and bluefish on Narragansett Bay. I thank you for your excellent channel. You took me back to my boyhood fishing for bass and bluegills in what we yankees call brooks.
I cannot believe you pulled that solid fish from such a small creek

You never know about those small areas. I caught a 17.5” largemouth a year ago out of a creek very similar to this one (there’s a Father’s Day fishing video on my page from that day), and 17” smallmouth on a couple occasions. Majority of people just go after panfish with tiny lures in these small areas and are missing out on the chance at 15+ inch bass

I can. John's the man! Besides, there's always a bigger fish
Man, I thought I was the only one who got some serious line knots! You got me beat with that one!! Love the way you keep it "reel" and show the frustrating parts of fishing, as we all get 'em!! :-) Great video as always, John!
Keeping me entertained while I'm In the hospital and not able to make my own videos! Thanks for helping me stay sane during my diagnosis of Sarcoidosis! Soon enough I'll be back at it! Started my channel because of you!
My dad used to take me with him to a small creek in the 50s and using his old Pflueger level wind and a heavy fiberglass rod, and a Tiny Torpedo, Hula Popper or Jitterbug (about 3/8th oz) and he would catch bass, Rock bass, and green sunfish with a lure nearly as big as the fish. Occasionally he'd catch a bigger one and even a time or two a redhorse sucker would bite it.
5:37 you had another one come right by you on your left. Looked to be a decent fish.
clear shallow creek, cottages, woods, a dream day
Thanks for leaving in the birds nest. I just got a baitcaster this year, and I’m not very good with it to say the least. It’s nice to see even the best anglers struggle like the rest of us.
Your Chris and Catfish Dave are the 3 best channels in my opinion. Not 1 Texas angler I can watch and it’s my own state!
Watching you walking those creeks in town takes me back to my youth. My buddies and I would grab our Zebco spin cast rigs and hit the local creeks in our hometown. We never caught a big bass, but we got some fair sized panfish. We also caught plenty of trees and bushes.😅
John, seeing you birdsnest the casting rod is like seeing Tiger Woods whiff on a pitching wedge. It’s a reminder it happens-even to the great ones. Appreciate the grind bro.
I really enjoy your shows. One of these days I hope I can hire you to fish with my grandson Paxton. He'd have the best time fishing with you, I might have to go 😊🙏💞
That's why I won't fish a bait caster, I just don't have the skills. You on the other hand have done a good job with it!

Watching that part, where he got a big ole tangle on his reel, was, in it's own way, almost painful to watch. I could almost literally feel the frustration and anger that John must've felt. This is why I don't even HAVE one of those blasted things! I'd rather take one, throw it up in the air, and use it for target practice! I'm much more comfy with an Open-Faced Spinning Reel. Use Berkeley Braided Power-Pro line, around 10Lb. Test line. You'll have great success with it!
Great Creek Fishing Adventure! The best of three worlds! Shade, nice bass, and being in, not on, the water! Great video!
I'm glad I'm not the only right handed guy who uses a left hand crank casting rod. My buddies think I'm nuts. My go to creek lure is a F7 Rapala in black over gold. A little light for a casting rod but I prefer a spinning rod in creeks for casting under limbs and such.
You have some great techniques to attract these bass ! Appreciate your insight on creek selections
Man! That’s what I’m talking about! Creek Fishing Adventures! Thanks for sharing John.
You caught some nice fish and that Creek good job
It's crazy that big bass can thrive in such a small creek!

Got to think of all the little fish thriving, great food source
Ohhhh I remember that spot!!! I like seeing you fish the other side of that pipe!!!!
Casting reels = a few minutes of fun, followed by 30 minutes of questioning life.
That one incident with the backlash, is considered as a professional overrun. That looked nasty. Fun videos to watch.
Great video 😊 creek fishing is the best
Well now. That's a great day of fishin' right there.
I’ve been following you before you got your first boat. I was so sick and after 3 years I’m finally well enoito go fishing today I took my puppy and we caught and released two very nice catfish.
kuddos to you for showing your backcast! most youtubers wouldn't.
Haven’t gotten out much but did get the kayak in the water. Got a few little perch but mostly it was a trial run for my husband’s raft. He after another. had me turn the head on the trolling motor and attach a mount on the bow so he could face forward without having to twist around to run the motor. Not a complete failure but not that great either. He was also trying some new seating but it put the center of gravity too high and reaching over the side dumped him out twice so back to the drawing board. We went today to a boat ramp we knew we could fish off of and have fun. Caught a ton of pumpkinseed sunfish one right after the other. He’s been catching pike there too, 3 the other day, but he didn’t want to work that hard today. Some of the sunfish were as big or bigger than my hand and 1.5 inches thick. A fun relaxing way to spend a few hours.
In these videos you are always teaching me how to be a better fisherman and you are keeping my baby brother entertained so keep up the good work man
Thanks John for a nice day fishing.
I was wading/fishing one of these creeks in Alabama....got to a spot where the water flow was fast, almost rapids....and saw the biggest cottonmouth I'd ever seen being carried by the current right toward me....I went to move and slipped and the cottonmouth bumped right into my bare leg (I was in shorts) but it bumped into me, sorta bounced off, and then simply flowed on downstream. My heart almost came out of my chest.

I know that feeling, I was wading in my neoprene fishing waders, it was still dark, sun was just coming up, but it was black. I felt something bump into my leg, then it started climbing up my leg. I was terrified, I fell down trying to get out of the water. It was a muskrat, it tried to climb up my waders, it’s nail got stuck in the neoprene, it was pissed, I had to use my rod to keep flicking him to get him free. It was harmless, but it scared the crap out of me.😂

Sweet! I've caught some of my biggest smallmouth in 10 inches of water or less. It's hard to believe that water that shallow can hide fish that size.
Awesome, creeks hold some amazing fish and you just never know! Thanks again!
Great video buddy! I always look forward to your adventures! Appreciate you continuing to take the time to share. You are the man! Keep doing your thing my friend! As always, #CreekFishingAdventures rocks!!!
Always love the classic open
I'll give you a good Jimmy Houston tip. Draw your bait all the way to the tip of the rod for better control and accuracy
Atta boy...thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!!!
It's always so crazy catching nice sized bass in a foot of water lol
A birdsnest & tree trout along with all the bass that you caught make for a great creek fishing adventure !!
Think I might take the baitcaster out to the creek tomorrow after watching this. Don’t do it often but it’s fun getting to fish heavier stuff jigs/spinnerbaits/ploppers. Always quality over quantity on those trips though lol
Great video love seeing you catching bass out of such a small creek
Great catches, yes I have a baitcaster and I suck at always frustrates me! Well done Sir!

Gotta admit: For using a Bait-Casting set-up, you did some great work there, Chief! However.. watching you get that huge tangle in your line, on the reel, had me thinking:Why didn't he come equipped with an Open-Faced Reel? To each, his own, though, so I won't say anything more about that. I was also beginning to think, that you were gonna walk through that ol' bunch of briers, there for a little bit. Gotta remember, though:That ain't gonna work, not with them shorts on! This ain't Uncle Remis, an' you ain't Brer Rabbit! You ain't Tar Baby, either (Hee hee hee)!!! Just funnin' with ya. Have a great weekend, and keep on a'catchin' them thar' Big Ole Bass! God bless you and yours!
5:37 a nice one swam right by you on the left.
Yeeeahhhh … see when ppl ask me why I don’t use a baitcaster…. THIS is why!! 😂 I feel your pain on that cast!!!

heck yeah Johnny D!!!! crushing the creeks with them bigger lures! 👊 solid brother.
Great video John one thing about it you can't catch um if you don't go I'm glad you do
Played in the creek today and man did you nail it, tons of fish under the bridge. Forgot my yum dinger, bubble gum swirl. 🎣
Really enjoy watching ya pull out those 12 to 17 inch fish outa the creeks, ya go in some places i wouldnt, very adventerous! Fish on!!!!
I bought me a magdraft can't wait to catch 1 on it & also I got the big Nikko hellagramites going in the morning, that was some great catches for the time spent compared to a lake, 1 time I went to cast my baitcaster & got a birds nest , it was so bad I couldn't use it!😎👍🎣
Man watching these videos makes me hope Washington will finally open creeks for fishing again 😢 much love man and great video
Okay!. You Win!.. I Subscribed!.. love your content! Thanks for all you do!
Awesome, watching this really makes me want to wade in a creek and explore areas i wouldn't normally go. Thank you for sharing this passion
So far be it from me to tell another guy how to fish. But I have also found skipping with a baitcaster to be incredibly challenging. I think when it comes to skipping in creeks, spinning combos make way more sense. But if you want to practice skipping. It can be very rewarding.
Wow, nice fish for creek fishing🐟🎣🐟🎣
Great day of fishing John.
Great video man. That first bass was shocking.
That fishing intro is back!
Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee what a way to start off the video buddy!!!! Epic fish!!!
That was some nice ones John.
When I was a kid we had a creek that at most was 2-4 ‘ wide and only a couple inches deep, in most spots. I caught some nice bass hanging out in little dips. We didn’t release, we ate them back them. At least 50 years ago
Great video brother and I like the risks you took with baits. You may have caught more with the hellgramites but then sacrifice the bigger fish bite. You were spot on when the bass follow the Whopper Plopper or swipe at it that says something. And I like to switch to the Popper. In my opinion it ticks those bass off by lingering in front of them as opposed to a drive by. Keep getting after them. Blessings John
You need to start throwing a weightless texas rig fluke. I think you would really enjoy using that!
Man I gotta try that creek. I never even considered that there would be fish like that in there. Great job!
beautiful little stream
I always pop , like a popper, my whopper ploppers a few times before retrieving . The 60 size is my favorite .

Awesome! My brother and I just did a similar adventure last night! If you want to wade with a baitcaster more, check out a Sixgill Akylos 7’M. It’s light, super sensitive, and is a moderate fast action so it handles treble hooks really well!
I love watching your videos
That first bass had great color.
That small creek had some decent fish!! Great video. I will have to try bigger lures out in these small creeks in Michigan so I can put video on my KZread channel!! Keep up the good content!!
The plopper has always been a killer bait...
Some dang nice bass for that tiny water
Cool stuff, those spots love to blow up huge on topwater just to miss the hooks!
Thanks for the great fish fun. God bless!
It's so hard to see the fish coming to hit your top water and not set the hook before you feel him pull ! But I'll take 5 fish on top than 10 fish on plastics ! Great trip ...
I also run 15lb fluorocarbon on my baitcasters. Creek bass on top water is very satisfying!
Love fishing 🎣
Your style of fishing is perfect for advertising BFS especially with small poppers and such
Simple way to remove a backlash: 1- Tighten the drag all the way down. 2- Press down hard on the spool with your thumb and crank the reel until its tight. 3- Click the thumb button to release the spool. 4- Pull as much line out from the front of the reel as you can. Repeat steps 1-4 until the backlash is out. Works every time It also helps to set the brake for each individual lure you tie on. Something I always forget to do until my first backlash of the day.
cool man I love fishing with big lores , i got some good sallies out of the Toccoa
AWESOME video dude!
awesome catches ...
Creek fishing are my fav
cant wait to get out and wade around
I live in the apartment that you walked beside fish this ole creek alot caught some nice bass and big bluegill
That shady overhang is just begging for a skip cast. Love the small creeks. Usually underfished.
Beautiful locations
@5:37 It looks like something of a good size for creek swam past you on your left from behind.
I always take a spare reel along on creek fishing trips.
great video 👍 wish you good health ♥️
Shoutout to the left hand baitcaster !!
5:37 swear that fish that swims by your feet is the same one that you catch seconds later
