In our recent vacation to Bangkok, Thailand, we've had the privilege of fishing the Chao Phraya, one of the country's major rivers.
Having seen the many epic videos & documentaries about Thailand's insane freshwater fisheries, fishing this river had been on my to-do list for some time now. Afterall, it is very accessible with just a 1 hour drive from Central Bangkok and would be a good first-glimpse into the Thai freshwater fishing scene.
In this video, we document our eye-opening, 2-days experience of chasing the usual gamefish suspects of the Chao Phraya - the Hampala Barb (Sebarau) and the Black Eared Catfish. Special shoutout to our guides for both days who gave us good tips and put us in the best position to catch these fish, links to their respective FB pages below.
We really had to put our technical casting into practice. Caught some good fish, lost some good fish - this trip was everything a great fishing session should be. I can't wait to be back!
