FISHING AT 80 METER - FISHING SOUTH AFRICA
Another Epic deep sea fishing in 80m+ in Knysna. Johan gave us a call and asked if we wanted to try out the Fusion 17 Powerboat loaded with a 100 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. We never say no to testing out new boats and meeting new friends so we jumped onboard and what a fun day we had.
The boat is amazing and can handle everything in the estuary and the ocean. It is not 100% suited for all the gear for fishing and i would love to try the boat out for a spearfishing trip to test how it handles getting in and out of the water.
Everyone onboard had a good laugh and ended up with some very nice hake/stokvis and gurnard.

its sad that SA doesnt have allot of big fish anymore....i remember the days when you go out and catch a cob or galjoen within 5 min even from the shore.

We do get some good fish now and then but nothing like the old stories that we have been told.

I saw a cob maybe in late 90s caught next to N2 by railroad Bridge that was far bigger than any fish iv seen come out of that lagoon to date.

Are you aloud to launch through the heads with only a single motor?

Nope allowed to launch and go out 5nm if you have the correct safety equipment. Who told you one motor is not allowed. We have been launching there for many years

@@Bloudam howsit. I saw on the sign (featherbed side) which lines up with the beacon by sea rescue/ east head Cafe. But must be outdated hearing your comment. However this is great news, my ballie made sure we always obeyed the law 🤣 going there for decades and not even once on the calmest of days would I cross. Also the parkies were pretty heavy when I was lighti. What are the legal restrictions diving in and around the heads ie off coneyglen. Obviously zero spearing In lagoons and estuaries. Sharp channel this.

Amazing boot maar glad nie reg vir diep see visvang of Spearfishing nie. Sal baie goed verander om hom reg te kry. Gaan kyk of ek vandag n video kan maak van die boot setup van 🦎

Ooh dit is n baie moeilike vraag want ek was nog nie op so baie bote spesifiek vir Spearfishing nie. Die ski vee is baie Nice bote maar alle bote sal eers ingerig moet word vir Spearfishing. Was nog nie op daai stealth bote wat hulle gebruik in oos kaap nie maar hulle lyk ook baie nice. Rubber duck is uit vir Spearfishing. As jy eers op n harde hull geduik het verstaan jy hoeveel spasie jy verloor met daai pontoons

Ek like n centre walk around console met n fish hatch. Petrol kanne moet lekker onder deck in gaan. Genoeg plek dat alles weg is en niks op deck rond le nie. Plek vir spearguns. As mens struis doen en jy kom op n skool tail af moet dit nie n sirkus veroorsaak op die boot nie. So as n boot dit alles bied vir my dan sal ek hom koop

Shouldn't you have 2 x outboards at sea?

Nope. Depending on your Category and safety equipment. Cat E allowed 1 outboard 1nm that is 1,85km and Cat D is 5nm / 9.26km with one outboard.

@@Bloudam WOW - I wasn't aware of that? Are the stokfish (80m depth) not a bit further out (from land)? Was your boat a category D boat?

At knysna the deeper water is not far out and boat is a D
