Fishing an Inshore Wreck: What's on it?!

Ойын-сауық

Graeme is out with Wayne in his boat trying some inshore fishing with light tackle. They do a bit of searching up in the estuary and then move outside the estuary entrance to a tiny wreck to see if there are any fish on it. Small hooks and Ragworm bait is the setup but Graeme can't help dropping back a chunk of Mackerel. They are barely a few minutes from shore, but it goes to show that a lot of anglers often overlook the inshore fishing which is fuel saving and with no long distances to travel you get more fishing time. Bait time in the water is often what counts...Enjoy..

Looking at your bait dropper, we used to have similar things that we made from the spinner cylinder out of old twin-tub washing machines. Bolted onto the transom of the boat so the bottom half is in the water. Then dump you offcuts etc in them and have a "chopper/masher" with a T-piece handle and an X-shaped head on the bottom end. Every now and then give it a chop/mash and you get a huge burley trail. I've even seen professionally made ones for sale in tackle and boating stores. Doing this and then freelining a cube od pilchard down the trail has often resulted in some very nice snapper and even the odd tuna. The big worms you used would make an excellent bait for mulloway. Put them whole on a 1/0-2/0 long shank hook under a running sinker. Bycatch would include large bream, whiting, flathead.

Another good video. Remember years ago we used to get those large worms from Havant Angling. They seemed to be the only ones that took the once prolific flounder within the harbour. The smaller were poo pooed! flounder could be choosy then!

Difference depends on what reels you are using. Fixed spool or spinning reels the rod rings face down,a multiplier they face up.
