The crowd isn't responding because he's just playing random songs that don't get people in a mood or vibe. I get that he's technically skilled on the decks and loves doing epic transitions every 30 seconds but he clearly did little to no research on what kind of music he should play / what gets the crowd going.

The crowd looks like my middle school dance while the Dj is playing

I'm going to college for a day job that I don't expect to quit for DJing, but James Hype's sets have me questioning whether I should be a closet DJ instead of a bedroom DJ. Sometimes. Usually he inspires me to experiment and find new tricks. Of course if not for the sync button I would still have my entry level controller in the closet instead of my current one ready to rock. Sure I'd like to be a "real" DJ but more than that I'm having fun and others enjoy my music too.

@@trevor_mounts_music thanks. I was being somewhat sarcastic about being a "real DJ.". I do have fun with it and that is the main thing for me. I say somewhat sarcastic because there is legit something special about old school skills and someone who can drop a lit, flawless vinyl set. It's just it's own element now. There is nothing less talented about the creative live mixer who embraces modern tech to full-on remix live too. Definitely the first thing is that the the DJ has fun. Next comes the people listening like it too. Past that is just a matter of personal ambitions.
