The blades are serrated stainless hollow-ground. I used to sharpen 200 to 300 sets a season. They're so damn sharp, if you rubbed your thumb on the blade you'd cut it to the bone..

for no purpose whatsoever! normally you just punch the auger straight through. far better than this because now you have Jagged ice at the bottom of the hole instead of a clean hole.

How long ago was this? Must have been a long time ago. In Maine it hit 40 degrees every week now all winter. The bays (ocean) used to freeze here enough to drive a truck on and fish. Ponds barely freeze now.

I live in the Adirondacks of upstate NY and every year we have at least 10 days below Zero, feet of snow on the ground from December to April, and lakes and ponds are frozen all year round thick enough for ATV’s and snowmachines. Maybe it is that big of a difference on the coast, I’m really not that sure, not to mention the elevation factor

Лед в пыль - неправильно заточенные ножи. Правильно- когда лед колется пластинами. Тогда расходуется минимальная энергия. С мощным приводом об этом, видимо, не задумываются, а при работе вручную такой бур у нас называют "горячим" - пока просверлишь лунку - вспотеешь. Новосибирск.

The blades are serrated stainless hollow-ground. I used to sharpen 200 to 300 sets a season. They're so damn sharp, if you rubbed your thumb on the blade you'd cut it to the bone..

for no purpose whatsoever! normally you just punch the auger straight through. far better than this because now you have Jagged ice at the bottom of the hole instead of a clean hole.

How long ago was this? Must have been a long time ago. In Maine it hit 40 degrees every week now all winter. The bays (ocean) used to freeze here enough to drive a truck on and fish. Ponds barely freeze now.

I live in the Adirondacks of upstate NY and every year we have at least 10 days below Zero, feet of snow on the ground from December to April, and lakes and ponds are frozen all year round thick enough for ATV’s and snowmachines. Maybe it is that big of a difference on the coast, I’m really not that sure, not to mention the elevation factor

Where do you live in canada? We regularly get ice that thick in northern minnesota. But I often forget we live farther north than 50% of the canadian population lives; I always forget there's a good chance Canadians live in a warmer climate than I do.
