I love the way he says "Right now you're mine, all mine", how on the first "mine" he sounds villainous and almost aggressive, but then it's softer, and I think more full of longing. Like we get to see those two words, "all mine", both as he says it when he's in-role and in charge, and how he thinks about her, lovingly and still a little possessively.

I think the first is more aggressive than villainous. Like, it’s victorious, proud, “YES! This beautiful thing is mine!” Not as much “Mwahaha, you’re mine!”

I love how the one fish got into the cage, which would normally be a symbol of an abusive relationship, but then the other fish got right into that cage too showing that they still are absolutely on equal footing regardless of the power dynamic 💜🖤💜🖤💜 So well done

I agree with the healthy idea. Yeah, there’s CLEAR, STRONG, and HEAVY implications for the power dynamic. But it’s consensual. It’s healthy. It’s hard to find something so strong but also so safe and healthy. And since someone disagreed, I made a way-too-long reply to go into the lyrics. The “mine” over and over is just dynamic. The “web” imagery could be seen as consumption and danger, but again, could just be very… heavy in describing the dynamic by tying her up. “Give up” implies that the person has to let go of protection from something you don’t want. But he uses the phrase “give in”, which is letting go of things protecting you from what you want. The same with “look at me” and “surrender your mind”. “You’re mine!” especially with the tone, has strong ‘dynamic’ vibes, but the way he sweetly says “all mine~” makes it seem safe in that dynamic. The only lines I feel “iffy” about would be maybe calling her a ‘good girl who knows how to please’, because it makes me think more along the lines of someone paid, rather than a loving relationship. But listening again, it honestly just feels like it’s another line about the dynamic. Like you said, calling the bed a “shrine” feels like they BOTH care deeply about this relationship. A shrine to their love and relationship. Everything else is just ‘dynamic’-y. That being said, could be romantic or just… inappropriate. But still a healthy one either way.

@@attackmanatee02 - If they want a song about abusive relationships from the viewpoint of the abuser and abused, they should listen to “This is Love” by Air Traffic Controller. There can be a slippery slope or “blurry line” from consensual power dynamic to abusive relationship. It can start healthy and become unhealthy if it stops being fully consensual. And it can sometimes be hard for the girl (in this situation) to realize it has become unhealthy. But this song makes it very clear she’s having a good time. The only “brain-wash-y” thing in here is the part where he says to look into his eyes and give in. Except I don’t see it as “brain-wash-y”, I see it as him trying to calm her down. Like a shy girl who needs help coming out of her shell in this safe space that is their relationship. Same with the earlier lines. Could be seen as him pushing her around and forcing her… if you forget that that dynamic can be healthy. In that case, it could be seen as him, again, trying to help her calm down in their safe relationship.

Honestly...they new about the rule 34 jokes, and they did not shy away from them, and I respect that.

The “You’re Mine” is so aggressive yet melodic- which is so perfect for the message of this song.

This song feels like when someone who’s been abused by a past partner then still craves being close to someone in any way, but still can’t decide wether or not to be in control, or how they used to be. And regressing back to that mindset of simply surviving. But now that person has now become obsessive about someone else, and is scared of slowly becoming the person who they once feared. And struggling with the PTSD from the previous relationship, feeling like their past partner is always watching, always there, the effects from the manipulation and abuse still there, unable to shake like a scar. (This song is really healing for me at least)
