From an artist's perspective, the horns on the "horned pikes" are most likely clay. On one picture you can see that the horns are _on_ the head and don't look like they're growing from it

best thing about AVNJ is that unlike a lot of channels that do this "here's why this thing is bad" type content is that he actually goes after something genuinely harmful related to a topic he has a real understanding of. Most of the time what I get recommended is just someone making nitpicky (and often contradictory) complaints about something that really doesn't matter at all (like a poorly written tv show that most people know is bad already) while throwing around ableist slurs for upwards of 45 minutes.

Speaking of Hybrids. I was recently rewatching some old videos on Homonculi. And the amount of people who completely misunderstood Biology is hilarious. Humonculi are genetically impossible. Yet so many people were arguing they were possible to make, siting things like the Mule. Nevermind the fact that the Mule is made by breeding two species that are very identical. And the fact that the Mule only barely works. Or stating things like, "Because the egg is already fertilized, if you replace the sperm at the right time, it won't know the difference". Nevermind by replacing, they just mean injecting the egg with human sperm. That's not how that works. People who don't get this basic fact about biology always just, crack me up.

fun fact, the ability to drink milk as an adult is a human mutation. you are supposed to lose your ability to drink milk as you age, but at some point a mutation occurred that allowed someone to digest lactose into later ages. which further developed into some people being able to digest it for their entire lives. a lot of adults do still lose the ability at some point in life though.

  • @obscuregamesshowcase

Just a small thing to note about your explanation of mutations at the start that I'm sure you're aware of and just misspoke: mutations do not "usually" result in the death of an organism, as most mutations are benign in nature and do not affect the organism in any noticeable way. Other than that, great video!

In my marine biology class in highschool we dissected some squid. While following instructions on removing the eyeball my group mates and I noticed our squid had a weirdly shaped and colored eye. My teacher walked over and said it could’ve been blind when it was alive. I loved that class because there were so many tanks in there that we all took part in maintaining, and my teacher was active in research so she could get us some cool animals to keep for a while. On a sad note, this year some seniors from the same highschool that I graduated from like 5 years ago did a “senior prank” where they battered gutted and froze a pregnant shark to hang the corpse in one of the hallways, thinking it was funny because our mascot is the sharks. I’m hearing they’re not gonna walk during graduation and frankly, I say that’s just fair enough punishment for that behavior. There isn’t much more they can do when those responsible are a month away from leaving. Even back when I was there, my marine bio teacher had to deal with similar assholes messing with her fish, too. We had to get rid of our puffers because some idiots found it hilarious to make them have constant panic attacks so they’d jump out of the tank during class and puff up. Marine biology was by far my favorite class and it made me so upset seeing everyone abuse the fish like that.

The dolphin is most likely not a mutation since two heads is often the result of absorbtion of other siblings on the womb, not related to genetics which is also why it's fairly common despite being such a big difference. Other cases of this is the growth of extra limbs (sometimes facing the wrong direction)

I guess the blue carp may be blue due to the reflected light from the sky, which ussually tends to be blue during clear days. You should look for some footage about "La Ramona" in Spain. It´s a huge carp (15kg) and is more than 50 years old. Maybe is all an old fake news to attract turists and fishermens, but the pictures of the size of the carp is really amazing, it looks like an underwater cow.

I know I’m beating a dead horse but the original video was about mutations that were supposedly taking over the oceans yet the entire list was of very very uncommon stuff.. also besides running I think cycling is a much more popular outdoor activity than fishing.

I live in gastonia and have not heard of the blue fish XD chances are it's either a carp, or a released pet, petstores here sell blue channel fry.

Fishing might be the most popular for 20 somethings. But looking for Cryptids is the most popular sport for middle aged people. We like to strap on our shoes and go looking for shit that probably doesn't exist.
