Along with Bella ciao it is one of the most famous songs celebrating the Italian resistance, the anti-fascist movement that fought the forces that occupied Italy during World War II.

Another suggestion for an Italian music: The Chaison de l'Assiette. An Italian Patriotic Song in French (for ridicule the French btw) about the Piedmontese victory in the Battle of the Assietta during the Austrian war of Succession. Most of the versions are without lyrics, but there is a choir version (I advise you to put that in 1.75, it's very cool with that)

'Fischia il Vento' 1943 - testo di Felice Cascione Sull'aria della canzone russa "Katiuscia". di Michail Isakovski. Cantata un po' ovunque dalle varie brigate, è stato forse il canto più eseguito durante la Resistenza. L'autore del testo, Felice Cascione, comandante della II Divisione d'assalto garibaldina di Imperia, è morto nelle montagne della provincia di Cuneo nel 1944 in uno scontro a fuoco con i fascisti. Solo pochi giorni prima aveva composto questo canto che poi, in modo spontaneo, ha iniziato a diffondersi tanto da diventare un vero e proprio inno dei partigiani. Beppe Fenoglio, nel celebre romanzo "Il partigiano Johnny" scrive: "Fischia il vento è una vera e propria arma contro i fascisti. Li fa impazzire, mi dicono, al solo sentirla". Fonte Savona A.
