Hi Jon, great video . I look forward to hearing more about your experiences on your boat. I hired a narrowboat in Oxford last year and then six months later I own a gorgeous early wilderness water rat called desiderata. I with very little experience cruised it 39 miles and through 47 locks from Hemel Hempstead to Milton Keynes. Took me three weeks each evening after work and a lot of walking back to find my car. I love my boat, I love the people you find in the canal everyone is so friendly and helpful. I’m still very new to this but enjoying every minute. Good luck with your new venture. Marc

Lovely little canal cruiser, after hiring a narrowboat back in May I've been wanting to own my own boat and have just bought a Dawncraft 22 which is on the Lancaster canal. I'm pretty nervous myself about taking it out for the first time but equally excited 😁

That sounds great unfortunately the Mon and brec canal is closed navigation so unable to join other canals otherwise I'd take you up on offer.

@@jongriffin-u8v Okay mate enjoy, Just know that when entering a tunnel, you need to blast on the horn,, then listen for any reply, Then Once every 20 seconds whilst in there. Always pass other craft ` Port to Port. Also when exiting any tunnel or bridge, just look at the surface of the water for lots of ripples " Cats Paws ", that indicate wind direction and strength, so you can steer through it in safety... In all this advice always be well aware of hire boats, they don't display L plates and usually lack the knowledge 😛
