Yes. If you want, you could call an entomologist. Those folks can figure out if a queen is there. I've heard that pulling out a queen can stop a whole hive...until they force a larva into "queen mode." If I had the skills, I'd learn to keep the exiting Ford V6 running. Sketchy, undocumented, engine swaps in a sketchy car is...even more sketchy. Might as well turn it into an EV, really. That would be cool to see, TBH.

Definitely cool-rare piece, very few seen in such relative good shape these days. So yeah it deserve to be restored but how much will that cost and from where sourcing the parts remain to be answer.. Such light car back in it's hay day would be equivalent to a Porsche Boxter which also has a small engine.. if you want to add a big engine in a light car then better look for structural re-inforcements for the chassis and maybe a cage like Ariel V8 super-light light vehicle with a big engine but at least it has structural built inn cage from the tubular frame.. regarding about rims i have seen plenty vehicles that have a similar style Vauxhal Corsa, Astra 1 & 2, Kadett, Manta, VW Golf 1 & 2 even 3, VW Scirocco 1 & 2, Corrado, Jetta 1 & 2 ..

I adore TVRs. Absolutely insane little cars, motoring at its most raw.
TVR has a much larger following in the UK where they were built. The Tasmin was popular in the US too. TVRs traditionally used either Rover or Ford V8s and Ford V6s.

Whoever was vacuuming shouldn't have let those bugs escape after fogging them. Now you're going to have pesticide resistant bugs around your shop. Lol
I'd say there's a difference between rare and collector and that hinges on prices. For us mere mortals something like this is a gem because the same era 911 is now 6 figures in the same condition. That is a Euro Ford Cologne V6. Not a bad engine but if you wanted this to scream I'd drop a hot Toyota engine and transmission in it. It's just 2100 pounds so moving from 160HP to 240HP or so would be pretty nuts.
Love the BBS rims. The TVR Speed 6 was ahead of it's time
Just the fact that it’s a TVR makes it cool

Ford V6 and Mercedes taillights :D Ahhh, the good old TVR :D
Fun fact: The V6 that the TVR has was most commonly used in the Granada, a favored UK Ford sedan.
Great Video guys, TVR are such a British Classic for racing, touring and all other Sunday drives.... Classic job guys!
Rare is in the eyes of the beholder BUT to me I live the odd and orphan vehicles more than almost any mainstream vehicle! Great episode.
Well, that’s something you don’t see everyday! Great job guys.

I daily drove my Tasmin in the 90's and it was a nightmare. To buy parts you'd have to be friends with the store so they'd let you go back in the back and start opening box after box comparing them to your used parts until you found a match. These days with the internet and eBay, it'd be a lot easier on most stuff.
perfect, at the end show more, the difference between before and after
How can you refuse that car it’s beautiful
Great job lads. Has those very BBS alloys on a Honda crx years back.
I really Love you guys and all that you do . But PLEASE if your going to use any music . Please keep the volume down and please No robot auto tone or words in it . Thanks
I have never heard of nor ever seen one of these in my life, and I'm old! 🤣I think it's quite interesting. So I guess the 280 means a 2.8 liter V6? I would have loved to have seen how the pop up headlights operate. That was my favorite feature of the 80's and 90's cars. Y'all did a great job cleaning this unicorn up. Thank you!

Yeah, 2.8 Cologne engine. Same as our old Mustang II's. The pop up light have an electric motor. Back in the early 90's I had to import one from Europe to fix my Tasmin and it cost me a FORTUNE. Nowadays I could use the internet to cross it over and get one cheaper. I want to say the motor is the same as a TR7 but it's been a while since I've bought it.
RJ getting that box bomb for the sponsor plug was so funny 😂 “ God!…”
You guys are magicians 🎩. What a great job!
Giving love to the car
Ild be screaming again for the first time if those ants were to touch me and I ain’t screamed since puberty lol
Looks like you gonna have to call AntMan to settle this😅
Thats a great little car. Still has a tonne of life in it
😮 inacreditável 😮
My very first professional detail was similar. As I looked in the rear window to the trunk area of this New Beetle there was a shed snake skin. First sign! When I pulled all the junk out of it I saw the carpet moving and then recognized an active, and very large, ant infestation. And found over two dozen mouse nests and a few dead mice.
I didn't realise any of these cars made it across the pond. The TVR was a hand made car built in my country (UK) in Blackpool in the north west. This is one of the quite old ones though!

I have an '83 Tasmin in the states, and I THINK 81 (or 89) made it over here that year.
Good job boys 😊
I'll keep the Ford V6 and strip it and rebuild it. Cheap parts and it's a reliable. Love this car when I was a teenager and at 52yrs old now. I still love it. Iconic 😊
That’s yet another one I’d buy if price is right
Sangat Satisfying melihat nya dan MANTAP..!!
Just because a car is rare doesn’t make it special. It has to e cool and loved
I love Wedge TVRs.
Which tire & wheel cleaner do you guys use in your IK foamed?
I really like watching your videos especially the before & after. I have a question regarding removing salt stains on carpets. As I live in Montreal, Canada we have harsh winters and my city dumps a lot of salt on the roads which ends up on my car's carpet. Do you ave a procedure to remove the stains and/or a product I could use?
I think it's a cool car great work fellas💯👊
Good thing Orkin isn’t too far away 😂
Wow I never knew they sold those in the Americas. Quite a following here in the UK. Some of the later (read 90s/00s) models were crazy af.
There are car groups in North America that do shows of people who own TVR's, MG's, and Triumph's (cars). So this TVR is very collectable.
Your work is very good and very nice and super bro
You need to do a video on that Saab in the background!
If they didn't remind me to like this video I would forget, so thankyou for the reminders.
BBS rims came on the VW Corrado as well
Reminds me of the little Pontiac Fiero car of the mid-80's.

TVR put all sorts of engines in their cars. Their chassis were very light and mostly fibreglass bodies, so a fairly good engine would give good performance, even that Ford V6.
They call them BBS wheels nice rims great work guys 👍👍👍
The ants was having a party
I think the value depends on where and to whom you're trying to market it. Non car people are not going to understand the value but car enthusiasts will very much appreciate how rare and valuable this car is and like to see it at a show. To answer your question, yes, big names matter to the masses. They dont for those it was really meant for.
I've seen that type of rim on Pontiac Ferraro's. Also Pontiac Trans Am
TVRs are pretty cool, one of the lesser known British cars here in the US. If you get a chance, watch Top Gear Season 15, episode 6- they talk about some of the history of TVR..
In the UK we used to put a supercharger on the ford V6.
these rims look like the rims on my GTA Trans Am
I think A TVR is a Rare gem I remember seeing them at a Volvo Dealership in the early to mid 80's!!!!! They sounded mean and were nice inside!!!! I think it had a V8 in it!!!

If it were ever possible to find one, it'd be amazing to swap in the straight six engine from the TVR Cerbera.
Hi Guys The wheels are BBS/RS wheels made by BBS in germany .Original wheels like that are worth some money. TVR 's are a great and rare car. They used other peoples engines in their cars.
Nothing wrong with that Ford engine! It is sweet machine, a total restoration would make this such fun touring vehicle! It would be great for for an autumn trek through to the hills of Vermont
They were very popular in the 80's and 90's
A set of old school Inkies....

We want to see if someone takes it to the finish line!
Wow! Well, the good news with restoration of a car like this is that it was made kind of on the cheap in the first place and so you don’t have to be precious with keeping it original. These cars were all about cheap thrills and seat of the pants driving and the fact that this one has survived as long as it has without being wrapped around a tree is no small feat. With that in mind, getting rid of the rest of the ants, maybe putting some sort of carpet in there… or not… possibly a roll cage could be nice, some new seats, mechanical sorting and bipity bobbity boo, you have a pretty good TVR.
That’s the biggest ant farm I have ever seen😂
This rare RVR is very much collectable. Beautiful car that will drive and handle incredibly well indeed. The wheels are original factory fitment made by BBS. They were a popular wheel back un the day. Porsche used them on some 924 Turbo cars.. This will be a great car wjen it is done. TVR was named for the founder of the company, Trevor Wilkinson. The first car produced was in 1949, so they have been around a while. The Ford V6 is one of the engines TVR used. The Cologne V6 is a good engine for this car. Guven the weight of the car, the engine has plenty of torque and power to make the car fun to drive. TVR never made their own engines, so thete is no surprise to finding this V6 in place. This car will not be difficult to bring back to roadworthy condition. TVR was/is a small company. Fir the seats, figure out who made them and what other cars used the same seats. The dash may be a bit problematic, but even that us not likely to be too difficult simply because with the low production numbers, vacuum moulding and other means of making many parts quickly and cheaply just wasnt economically viable for the small production runs. The carpet is likely either Wilton or Axminster cut pile broadloom. Both companies are still in business. One thing is sure. TVR used some mighty fine quality paint, properly applied, for thst red to have cleaned up as easily and well asit did. Whoever outs the tome, effort, and money into this car is going to be rewarded with an interesting, fun, and sweet little drop top.
With all that mold/mildew accumulated on the outside ( which retrains moisture) I am surprised that the car did not rust away
@darrenwarby32
Жыл бұрын
TVR car bodies are made of fibre glass not metal , so they don't rust .
I would definitely restore this rare car ant great job!! punt intended
Excuse me please, I have one question. Do you also clean the inside of headlights, rear lights, and side blinker lights?
The wheels look like BBS alloys. You should sell it to Dennis Collins
Y'ALL!!! The ANTS! I immediately flashed back to moving into my college dorm sophomore year and my roommate's desk and dresser were infested with carpenter ants. I think I'm still traumatized but I dig your channel! LOL
I think a rare car is a rare car even if it's not a Cizeta Moroder or a Mercedes SSKL. Hoope someone will restore it! Oh, and what's that SAAB 96 V4 you had in the shop? :)
Probably mentioned in the comments already, but those look like Pontiac Fiero wheels to me.
Great job you guys did. My neighbour had one of these in the late 80s. I wasn't sure if I was more jealous of the car or his stunning blonde girlfriend 😂
One of these in our garage. Fun little car. Superleggera construction (with fibreglass panels instead of metal), Ford 2.8 Cologne motor (with Pinto 4 cyl or Rover V8 options in Europe) with the 4 speed, Jag XJ6 rear end, trailing arm suspension a la Lotus, Bosch or Ford electrics, and some BL/Lucas parts bin bits make for a hand built simple little car. Easy to fix. Easy to find most parts. If it's in decent shape, including the wheel alignment, it goes and handles quite well. Is it the priciest car out there? Nope. Is it affordable fun? Hell yes. An informal internet poll we did a couple years ago suggests you only get one of you have a blonde wife or girlfriend. The brunettes just whined and preferred Toyotas. YMMV (your mileage may vary) on that issue. But the poll was almost unanimous. Lastly, should you need to re-engine, the Ford 302 fits, the 2.8's fit and the mounts are already there, or a built Pinto will have more horsepower than the original 2.8.
I grew up in the UK, the 280i was a bit of an underdog. Don't think it was much quicker than the Ford Capri which it took the driveline from. The coupe was the best imo but all TVR's are just fabulous, whacky cars that attract company bankruptcy. What can't you like about them? They were built with passion and a massive risk of financial ruin.
Are those rear light clusters from an SD1 Rover turned upside down?
@Mitch-Hendren
Жыл бұрын
Well spotted .. TVR didnt make any parts themselves apart from the chassis they raided the parts bins of leyland ford and vauxhall
What a difference after you finished. The paint came out really nice. 👍 Too bad about the interior. It's really a shame the way some people trash their cars. Did you check your vacuum the next day to make sure all the ants you sucked up were dead ?
Definitely UK origin, I’m surprised you found one with left hand drive though. You’d probably have more success selling it to a UK collector. I think they fixed up a TVR on Wheeler Dealers once. Edd China would have a field day with that car.
I never seen one except a magazine 20 years ago

Tvr is awesome and extremely rare of a 280i bigger following in uk but thats a complete 280i wheels are bbs from a 5series bmw back from the day and these cars sparked the whole kit car era like the brickland
you mentioned first clean degreaser?
You can snack on those ants and add chocolate if desired.
That's a massive difference when you use the degreaser most of the parts on the car came from the Ford parts bins and Lotus parts respectively so mainly British parts cause they were an independent sports car manufacturer
