FIRST TRACK DAY IN M2 AT CADWELL PARK 10.06.2021 - I BOILED MY BRAKES!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My first track day (evening) at Cadwell Park in my manual BMW M2 F87. I managed to boil my brake fluid during the 3rd session when I tried to push it. It really shows that fluid is the weakest link in M2's brake system. I will definitely go back to this or another track before the end of this year.
Thank you for following my channel! Please remember to give it a like!
Next week I will release another video from the visit at Cadwell which will show all laps (apart from cool down laps).

Good to see your video, we actually spoke that evening. I didn't realise you were out filming. The car looked good. Tip for track days, don't apply the handbrake when you come in off circuit, it puts more heat into the brake fluid. Just leave it in gear and park on flat ish surface

Thank you for the advice. I thought BMWs had a separate pads for a hand break that’s the only reason why I used it. Anyway, I will need nee fluid and pads before next trip to a track. Regards

I do a few track days and was at Cadwell last week. My car is a Fiesta ST180 tuned to about 240 bhp. I reached speeds similar to the ones that you achieved. If you are going to do more track days I would recommend something like PBS race pads if they make them for your car (my car has standard not very trick calipers and stock Ford discs) they are awesome, I also use Motul 660 fluid with them. No brake fade all day. All road based tyres will over heat on a track day. I use a set of 1" smaller wheels for track with Yokohama AD08's for the track. Not the stickiest but they last and are also OK if it starts to rain. They are also road legal.

@@MDrives Stock IC is fitted to one series. It pulls timing on a stock map so you easily get heat soak. I upgraded mine and kept stock map, car feels on top form all the time. Read up on it, stock intercooler is a joke penny pinching by BMW. It hinders the car.

Don’t be a hero. Take it steady and go faster once you have more confidence. In regards to the car, once you are faster, your brakes might start getting too hot. In general probably won’t happen on your first track day unless you start pushing. It would be good to at least change brake fluid but as I said. You should be ok if it’s your first one. Generally, just enjoy it mate.

Also Feroda DS2500 pads are nit in my experience very good track pads. I used a set in my car and after 1 1/s track days started to crumble. I find PBS pads to be much better.

Hi. Was never a fan of EBC but I must admit RP1’s are good. Are you in standard suspension? The BMW Performance coilover kit is excellent on road or track. I hated the standard set up..

the M2 need the M2C(competition) optional brake calipers and rotors. That's the main reason I upgraded my M2 to M2C. My M2 did 4 track days on factory brake pads. my M2C did 10 track days, with no big fades on track.

The original M2 brake system is perfectly capable. Just as with any car, it needs fresh high temp brake fluid and a track oriented pad. I bet MDrives had the original brake fluid.
