First to Try Banff's Latest Attraction! e-Bikes to Johnston Canyon
We're no strangers to Banff's Johnston Canyon but we've never had it all to ourselves and we've never biked the Bow Valley Parkway on an eBike!
In this video, we thought we'd take advantage of the current Bow Valley Parkway vehicle traffic closure and jump on an e-bike for the first time, "peddling" from Banff to Johnston Canyon!
For those wanting to see Johnston Canyon, now is the time. Sure, you need to walk or bike the 6-km to get to the trailhead, but the lack of visitors makes it worth it!

Please note We were kidding when we mentioned "being lazy" and e-biking. First off, these bikes can be peddled just like a normal bike and the electric portion is only an assist. Second, this opens the possibility of biking to people who may or may not have medical conditions, such as arthritis, etc. We didn't mean to offend anyone :)
I loved doing ebike to johnston canyon, but going at my own pace, stoping to watch a video at one point all alone on the side of the road was the best
LOVE BOTH OF YOU FROM KURDISTAN 🇹🇯️🇹🇯️
Just love your trips

Aww thanks! That means a lot :)
Awesome video and I’ve been to Johnston Canyon, it’s so beautiful. Thank you for sharing and I love you videos 😊🙏
Loved this, thank you for sharing!
What a gorgeous area! Especially with a bit of snow and ice still around. The e-bikes really make things more accessible, eh? That's a route I wouldn't be able to do with a regular bike, so an e-bike tour would be awesome!

Hello love the video keep up the good work folks
Looks like an interesting tour.
I'm definitely doing this tour when I'm in Alberta this summer!
Enjoyd your explorer friend biking time
Love the video, the place looks amazing..my husband and I bought our first e-bikes last year, and we ❤️❤️❤️ them..they are RadRunner and they are sold out of BC...happy trails..😁🤗

oh very cool. It's tempting for sure. Can they placed on bike racks?
I think wherever you go on the Rocky Mountains it's always awesome.
Love to go there ❤ Stay Safe.
Hahahahaha I love that laugh Karla. Everything is so much fun. Those E-bikes are the way to go but me myself I’m looking into a E-recumbent bike. A little more expensive but they look much more comfortable. Great video guys, thanks so much. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!

They are pretty fun, but I think most cities in Canada don't allow them?

Flight tickets?
Loved the video I noticed you went to the upper falls, but the description on Mountain adventures tour states only the lower falls. Can you explain how you were able to go to the upper falls? Thanks Henry
@MustDoCanada
2 жыл бұрын
This was a private tour but I think it might depend on the group. It's not much further to the other falls, but probably adds 30-45 minutes total, so maube they do it because of timing
Good for you guys for all the fun. I am also trying to bike on Bow Valley Parkway ( BVP ). Just wondering where should I park my vehicle at Banff and which path should I take to join the BVP ? Thank you

You can either park somewhere in Banff. They have some free parking lots around the town. But you can also park near the turnoff. So, if you leave Highway 1 to go Bow Valley, the gate is closed but people park right out front of it
continue going pass upper falls, then you can see ink pots.
Love the idea of closing off Bow Valley Parkway to allow bikers access to it. Where did y'all park and how far was it to Johnson Canyon?

I don't think it's closed to biking anymore but I think this was late spring. Like June
Alberta beautiful.
I am planing to go there this summer, where did you rent for ebikes?
@MustDoCanada
3 жыл бұрын
We went on a tour with White Mountain Adventures but I believe Banff Cycle rents ebikes
I biked Banff too & made 2 videos on it. Search KZread with my name & words like Banff & Black Grizzly of Whiskey Creek. I am critical of Park’s lack of e-biking facilities.
This looks awesome! What type of E-bikes?

My family and I have been going there for years, it is one of our favourite spots. I have two kids and three dogs, and because of Banff not allowing cars we will not be able to go this year. Selfish people in Banff
@MustDoCanada

Do you mean the Bow Valley Parkway? It's nothing to do with Banff. Parks Canada has shut it down and it may actually be closed permanently. Just too much traffic now that its causing issues. Lake Louise might do the same
Are Americans allowed to travel to Canada yet? I'm confused about the restrictions, I'd love to go to Banff but do you have to quarantine for 3 days or is it a whole week? 😢😢
@MustDoCanada

Not sure yet.I know the border is still closed, so the rules are likely still strict. But they might loosen by Summer
E-bikes are a great way to cover a lot of territory when you want to sightsee!

YEs, there is! Not loads but we saw about 10-15 cars parked there.
Thank for vlog but you didn't provide the most important and useful information for people lole me who is planning to visit Jonhston Canyon this July.Could you give more details where(location) to rent a bike where there is free or so expensive parking to leave a car and if there is a time limit for renting this bike.I couldn't visit Jonhston Canyon last year gor the same closeru reason and hopefully will visit this year.Would greatly appreciate more details from you

For the tour, it's white mountain advenutres. But for ebike rentals, its Banff cycle and the other shop in town. Lots of free parking in Banff but you can also park off the turn off for Bow Valley Parkway right outside the gates
How long did it take to bike to Johnson canyon from banff?
@MustDoCanada

We stopped a lot but I think an hour on an ebike
Might’ve missed it but with what company did you do this tour? Also can you just rent an e-bike and not do the guided tour?

White Mountain Adventures. They don't rent ebikes, but I'll see if other companies do

You know we're talking about the tour itself, right? Johnston Canyon has been there for centuries. We've also been there many times and have made many videos about it
how many km was the entire trail? TIA
@MustDoCanada

I believe 40km
My question is how do people who drive cars get to Johnsons Canyon when Covid restrictions are relaxed. To make this portion of the road open to only hikers and bikers seems odd to say the least. Johnsons Canyon is one of the most worthwhile experiences in Bnaff National Park. Forcing the non bikers to hike from Castle Junction or just off # 1 seems a little weird to say the least. Plus parking at both ends is very limited. Perhaps parks has a plan but in asking guides at Castle Junction end I have yet to get an answer. Why not make the North bound lane a one way north for cars to Castle and make the other lane which was the southbound lane back to Banff a lane for bikes. (North and Southbound). To control the crowds at Johnsons Canyon create a reservation system. P.s. to bikers Jasper has far better roads to ride if variety is in the cards. But that's just one man's opinion. Enjoy the months ahead what ever you do and stay safe.

Good points. No one know what the plan is but if it remains closed, it will likely become a shuttle system like what they did with Moraine Lake. But thats just a guess.

Could i get more information about those road at Jasper ? It's for a friend ... ;)
Ebikes for that road are a bit of a joke honestly. It's so easy my 7 year old twins did it on their 24" mountain bikes.
