Thing is Hill House rewards multiple viewings particularly if you're keen-eyed. Many of the scenes that occur in the house, particularly the flashbacks, tend to have multiple paranormal things going on in the background that you definitely would not see the first time around as you're paying attention to the actors themselves. The statues in the hall change poses or positions, the ironwork on the main staircase has figures moving in the background, the windows in the kitchen will have shades move across them during the day time...and on and on. Some of Flanagans other shows have similar small touches here and there but none of them are nearly as stacked with them as Hill House.

This show is a masterpiece. Not because it’s the scariest thing ever, but because the story is so good. Also the most tragic one.

She only did 2 shorts before that, I wouldn't call that a ton of experience either and again, it was just shorts, not a full movie or a series like this. If she just did those as favors and didn't consider being an actress, then yes, I would count this as her first PROFESSIONAL job but I don't care enough to investigate more. Your comment makes it sound like she did at least a few movies or TV for a while, which is not the case

The best part are the ghosts that are all over the house during scenes that are not intended to be terrifying, during casual dialogues of the characters. They appear reflected in the windows, in the corners, it was a genius to have put them there.

Inspired by Lake Mungo, a movie Flanagan is an avid fan of. He left a review of it on Letterboxd recently. Like a week ago.

This series made me cry more than it scared me, young Luke asking young Steven to hang out with him gets me in the heart every time.

This show is terrifying, but the story is worth it, I promise you won’t be sorry. I’m also a scaredy-cat and it’s now one of my favourite shows EVER. We’re right here with you, every step.

Kat practically gnawing her own foot off to get away in anticipation of the "Bent-Neck Lady" after having only heard mention of her name... PRICELESS!! 🤣 Really, this show is WONDERFULLY done. It's a beautiful, emotional roller coaster, and I'm HERE for it. It hits you in ALL the feels, and (eventually) ends up in a (mostly) good, hopeful place. 👍

Welcome to Mike Flanagan's world, I hope you watch the rest of his shows. I had to watch the Haunting multiple times to really appreciate the writing.

This is not only the best horror series ever, it’s one of the best television productions in the past few years.

The dad is Henry Thomas (Elliott in ET). While you're watching, keep an eye out in the background...there are random ghosts hidden around the house....

The siblings waking at 3:03 gets me every time 🥺 This is so much more than just a horror series. Though it’s scary AF as well. 10/10

This. Is. Going. To. Be. Amazing. Nearly every Mike Flanagan series is S-tier. Hill House, Bly Manor, Midnight Mass. I loved sharing these shows with friends. It’ll change you, in the best way. Honestly the BEST choice for Kat to watch.

This is quite frankly a glorious addition to Your horror journey. This and Midnight Mass are all timers but in general, Ol' Mikey Flan Flan doesn't miss.

I think Kate Siegel is one of the finest actors working today. Her performances in all of these, Hill House, Bly Manor, House of Usher and Midnight Mass- all phenomenal.

This is probably the greatest ghost story I've ever seen. And also one of the best family dramas. Honestly, every episode is amazing.

OMG! I have been wondering if Kat would ever start this series. This is like a dream come true. I can’t do anything today unless I watch this first. Wow! What a delightful surprise! Kat, you’re gonna be out through the wringer with this but it’ll be well worth it. You’ll really enjoy it! It’s a phenomenal show across the board.

Yes! This show is amazing, Mike Flanagan is incredible I love this show, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, Fall Of The House Of Usher, Hush, Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, etc. He doesn't miss, also pretty sure he never stops working he's always got some project he's working on but all his hard work pays off, I've never watched the Midnight Club but every other thing I've seen from him is amazing

This show is so heavy and emotional. By the end I was moved and completely loved it. I’ve watch it multiple times and it still is great

I personally believe this is the best produced tv series ever. The phenomenal acting is only the tip of the iceberg. It’s also all the behind the scenes stuff (writing, directing, production & the camera work) is all so amazing. I rewatched this series often & love watching people reacting to it. I can’t wait for Kat to get through the entire series & see what she’s thinks of it after everything is said and done! Love this reaction!

IKR? If it weren't for the great acting, it would be easy to remember you're just watching a TV show, but _WITH_ it, You get immersed in it, almost as if you're watching it happen in real time. Amazingly well-acted.

The only crime you’ve committed Kat is not giving us a rating at the very end 🤣 or that just be my nostalgic vibes after I binged ALL of your videos on both channels this past month lolz. Keep an eye out for all the ghosts in the background. This show is intense, I love it.

This show is phenomenal, the amount of small details in every scene that have such significance as the story moves ahead is amazing, this show needs to be watched more than once.

There are so many ghosts hidden in the background in the house in many shots.

OMG!!! Kat, you have no idea how happy I am that you're watching this. I missed your post yesterday, so when I saw this land tonight, I was so giddy! This is the best and deepest ghost story I have ever seen, and it just wouldn't be possible to make it as a film. Episode 6 (Two Storms) is possibly the most technically brilliant piece of filmmaking that I've ever seen. Hope you enjoy this show as much as I did the first time I saw it.

Mike Flanagan's master pieces... The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass!!!! All three series are a must and I am here for it!

I’m considering getting the Patreon just to see the full reactions to these episodes! This is the kind of show where every moment is important, even if it’s just a little line that vaguely ties into a major reveal later. It’s so worth the rewatch, or many more thereafter. You’ll always find things you missed the other times.

This show is actually one of the greatest dramas I have ever seen. Be ready to cry in the end.

this show is a masterpiece. in every aspect of its existence! it's horrifying, heartbreaking, intriguing, beautifully twisted & MIND. BLOWING!!!! i rewatch it every fall/halloween season & it still makes me sob every time. a perfect telling of all the stages of grief.

Going into Haunting of Hill House: "I'm expecting to be spooked." Coming out of Haunting of Hill House: "I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT! Well, the spooks, yes, but the rest of it?!?"

This is such a top notch show. Outstanding cast, wonderful character development, and just great storytelling. So happy right now!

i am so beyond thrilled you’re starting this; it is honestly one of the most impactful television series i’ve seen yet, i’ve seen it through dozens of times and nothing gets stale. the emotion hits as hard as the scares do, this is truly mike flanagan’s magnum opus in my opinion and i’m so excited to see you go on this journey! i like to say his works were released on a spectrum of horror -emotion; hill house is more scary but almost equally emotional, bly manor is more emotional than scary, and midnight mass touches more on emotion/life with scares sprinkled in. all are WELL worth watching, whether on your own or on the channel.

i have A LOT of feelings about flanagan’s shows especially lmao i’m sorry if i write essays every video but there’s just so much to say from one episode

One of the greatest shows ever made. A terrifying and deeply emotional and moving family drama. All of Mike Flanagan's Netflix shows are terrific and worth your time especially Midnight Mass and Fall of the House of Usher.

I remember watching this for the first time! What a freaking MASTERPIECE!!!!!!! It's an amazing horror/drama. Enjoy!!!!

I started watching this show in hopes to fit in (my coworkers would talk about it on the teachers lounge), I had to turn the volume off and watch with subtitles because it was too scary for me; however, I was so invested I couldn't stop watching and I ended up loving the story!! All the series that Mike Flanagan put out in the last few years are all just so great. Horrific, tragic but also so sad… especially Hill House and Bly Manor. I both cried and was so scared.

Every year Mike Flanagan does a great horror on Netflix, this is one of his better ones, but the best has to be Midnight Mass. Incredible movie.

I'm beyond excited you're watching this. This show on the surface is a Horror series but it's so much more and makes you feel so many things besides fear.

Forgetting the horror aspects, this show is just an amazing family drama even without the horror elements

OH. MY. GOD. 🤯 I never ever thought you’d watch this show but I’m so glad you are. It’s a masterpiece in storytelling. the horror is there and it’s really good but there’s so much more to the show.

Mike Flannagan, who wrote and produced this, is a little bit renowned for his representation. You might like his other mini-series, THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR and THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER. He uses a lot of the same actors over and over again. Including the lovely lady who plays Theodora (who is Mrs. Mike Flannagan). She's great, They pretty much all are. Not sure if you noticed the episode title. "Steven Sees A Ghost."

Mike Flanagan is truly the master of emotional horror. Creating stories that you are not only terrified of- but also that make you feel everything the characters are feeling, and also feel for them. This show is a masterpiece of that talent. And his stuff only gets better in my opinion.

The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor are two of the best tv shows ever made. They are both amazing and Bly Manor also has Victoria in it. Both are so good, creepy and extremely upsetting for horror shows.

I read your announcement for the reactions for this series in the community posts of the channel. You said this was the most amount of crying you'd done in a while. That sums this show for me, besides being scary, it is so emotional. And even though is a very tragic and scary story, Mike Flanagan always finds the "beautiful" in horror, if that makes sense. His stories always end up being beautiful somehow. Looking forward to this watch.
