Crosby and Ovechkin are both top ten, all time greats...I'm Team Crosby but I can definitely understand the folks on Team Ovechkin. Number 1-2 in the salary cap era. If you like goal scoring and hitting, Ovechkin is your guy. If you like all around play and crazy playmaking, Crosby is the man. Barring a career ending injury, McDavid will probably be considered 1a or 2a with these guys when all is said and done.

    1) Check out the GoPro video that Crosby made. His hand-eye coordination is unbelievable. 2) Sidney Crosby is from Halifax, Nova Scotia, in eastern Canada. He wears #87 because he was born 8/7/87. 3) ESPN and TNT now have the NHL rights. Before the 2021-22 season, it was 2004 the last time ESPN could broadcast the NHL. 4) At 5:05-5:15, when Crosby is skating back-and-forth behind the net, the guy in white trying to keep up was Jason Spezza, who was one of the best players in the league back then. 5) Ovechkin is a better goal scorer, Crosby is a better passer and player overall. They are the 2 greatest players of the last 15 years.

Hockey is 3 periods of 20 minutes each. 2 15 minute intermissions between periods. Overtime in the regular season is 5 minutes of 3 on 3, sudden-death, next goal wins. If still tied after overtime, it goes to a shootout. Shooter vs Goalie, one on one. Each team gets 3 shooters. Teams alternate shooters. Whoever has the most goals after each 3 shooters shoot, wins. If tied, they keep alternating. In the playoffs, overtime is 20 minute periods of sudden-death, next goal wins hockey. The longest playoff game ever was 6 OT in 1936. The longest playoff game of this era was 5 OT in 2020. You’ve now watched the greatest Russian player in Ovechkin, a Canadian legend in Crosby, I highly recommend the greatest American player, Patrick Kane. The 3 are all very different players. Enjoy!

Just so you guys know. On that #1 shot, its tricky enough to get that much elevation that close to the net. Its trickier still to do it on a back hand shot. But a one handed back hand shot that elevated? You could play hockey for 15 years every day and never do it that good. Sid is generally regarded as a top 5 overall player all time. Ovechkin is maybe the best goal scorer the league has seen. But thats all he does. Sid makes his teammates better with insane passing, takes faceoffs, penalty kills and consistently receives votes as a top defensive forward in the league. But he no slouch on scoring and is only 1 of 2 active players in the top 10 all time for PPG avg (McDavid is the other one) Even Gretzky has conceded that Sid is a more complete player. Sid can do it all (think Jordan), Ovechkin and McDavid are great offensive players but do little else (think James Harden)

I agree with the comments that there are so many great players to watch and be amazed at their highlights. Being from Colorado and a huge Colorado Avalanche fan, I recommend watching the new and up-and-coming players like Cale Makar who won the Norris trophy, Conn Smythe trophy and helped his team win the Stanley Cup all in the 2021-2022 season. I recommend watching Evgeni Malkin highlights next. He is also an incredible player with insane highlights who just happens to play for the same team as Crosby! While it's certainly hard to argue against Crosby and Ovechkin being the best players of their generation I personally would mention Malkin as being on a comparable level of greatness. He's a generational talent as well but just hasn't gotten nearly as much media hype as either of them and has consistently been in Sid's shadow. I think the fact he came into the league a year after Crosby and Ovechkin might be the biggest reason why he's so underrated. He has a significantly higher points per game than Ovechkin, the same number of Art Ross Trophies as Crosby(2) and has won pretty much every major award they have except the Rocket as the leagues leading goal scorer, just saying. Also he's the only player in the last 30 years to win the Art Ross Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy while leading the playoffs in scoring all in the same year(Last player to do it was Lemieux).

Ovi's accomplishments are epic and will certainly go down in history. What he has done and is still doing today is surreal. 30 to 50 goals per season over the next few years may not be unlikely for him. Even getting close to Gretzky's goal scoring record, let alone breaking it, was considered unimaginable in today's era. But then ovi scores goals like it's going out of style. With all that being said, the accolades and achievements that Crosby has managed far surpasses those of any other player in today's game, and rivals those of the greatest players ever. You could genuinely argue that Crosby is the best player ever, though you'd have him up against some serious giants. I feel that he's gotten better all round as time goes by, as his game doesn't really rely on speed as much as it does on strength and edgework below the goal line. Like Forsberg, he bounces off of checks down low and creates chances like few others can. What he's done in today's era, I believe, already marks him as the greatest all round player ever. Easily. And he's still got a few years left at being the best all round player in the league. 3 cups. 2 straight finals mvp's. 2 time Olympic golds, and the top player of the tournament in both of those Olympics. Golden goal against the USA in the 2010 Olympics. Ridiculous ppg in regular season and playoffs. And many, many other accolades. McDavid is obviously not from this planet. And MacKinnon is a perfect blend between Crosby and McDavid (Crosby's power and edges + McDavid's speed and handles). But there is a very different feel when you have Crosby on your team come playoffs. Somehow he elevates the play of his entire team with his vision, skill, strength, and work ethic at both ends of the ice. This ability of him to single handedly elevate the play of his entire team is referred to as the Crosby Factor. Indeed it is an enigma. Guys like him and Forsberg love the shorter sticks because they like to keep the puck close to their bodies as they utilize their superior core and leg strength to keep a formidable low center of gravity which makes it nearly impossible for opponents to knock them off the puck without taking a penalty. But when Datsyuk adopted a longer stick, he became the magic man. I'd like to see what Crosby could do with a lengthier stick.

Crosby probably has the best backhand shot in NHL history. Most players have a stick that's slightly curved in order to elevate the puck when they take a normal shot or pass. If you look at Crosby's stick, it's perfectly flat - he likes it like that because he uses the backhand so much it's easier for him to get leverage on it. Also, all those hand-eye coordination tricks he does, like taking a pass on his back foot and passing it up to his stick, batting pucks out of the air, etc. that's not an accident. He practices tricks like that relentlessly in practice and on his own. It's what sets him apart.

In Canada we speak English too with a small minority of French. Just because a name sounds “english”. It don’t mean it’s American. Majority of hockey players in the league are Canadians! Don’t forget it’s our official sport 🥲 And the Trophy he was holding is the Stanley Cup, awarded to the winner of the NHL Playoffs. Hardest trophy to win in in all sports!

@@christhakingpin1 it’s really gonna be hard to compare. Mcdavid is just starting to enter he’s prime while Crosby is entering the twilight of he’s career so you will never get to see the two compete head to head over a single season like we got with Sid and Ovechkin. No true comps til McDavid starts to wrap it up and we can look at a side by side career comparison. Still, as a Pittsburgh fan we have nothing to complain about. We literally went from probably the greatest player to ever play the game not named Gretzky to someone who would go down as the greatest of he’s generation…..we also had Jagr in he’s prime then Malkin. Teams would kill to have 30 years of great hockey like we have had. 5 cups in 26 years with 1 back to back a piece for both generations of Pens. 87 will be hanging in rafters alongside 66 in Pittsburgh soon enough.

Love that you guys are doing hockey! Love the reactions! Hockey has 3 20 min periods, with 20 min "intermissions" in between. Quarters are for football and basketball only, cuz they play 4 sets of 15 min. Hence the quarter. Hockey has 3 periods. No halftime. Hockey is awesome cuz it combines rules of soccer, and elements of baseball, football, and boxing. It's soccer on crack, plus you get to fight. Best spirt ever. Do more hockey reactions

I’m a Pittsburgh fan so I’m team Crosby for sure but Ovechkin is still amazing and probably the best pure goal scorer in history. But I’m glad you guys are watching NHL stuff because hockey may be the best sport and I’m a huge football and Steelers fan but hockey is just such a fast intense physical sport. Also these are all great plays and with Sid it’s tough because he has soo many great plays and has been playing for soo long. But my top ten plays would definitely be different than this. I think Sid has made a lot better plays in his career than some of the ones included on this particular compilation.

Super Mario Lemieux. I know the great one Gretzky is amazing but the fact that Mario played threw significant health issues, that caused him to "retire" for a couple years and returned is an amazing story and a testment to the player he is. I may be partial due to Pittsburgh being my favorite team since i was a kid but watch Mario live was the best.

Never been much of a Pit fan, always preferred Gretzky over Mario back in the day, but you go get surgery and chemo for cancer, and come back and play like he did, then save the franchise by swapping out unpaid salary plus cash for ownership stake, gets my respect 100%! He has done a lot of good for Pit, on and off the ice, you Pit fans are lucky to have him!

This is a great video. Really puts a good feeling in people. Growing up playing hockey and football. I also wanted the sport of hockey to expand in the U.S. Hockey is hard to understand for people who do not play the sport. It comes off stupid just a bunch of people skating around whacking at a puck. But it is a beautiful game once you get into it.

Love seeing new fans come to hockey. The only frustrating part is the plays that the greats make are so subtle in comparison to regular players it is hard for new fans to understand the difficulty of what they have just seen. For new fans watching big hits and big booming slap shots (ovechkin, Lindros etc) is easier to comprehend than Crosbys Edgework or Datsuks puck control.

OK, check it out... THAT trophy is The Stanley Cup. The Cup in on top of all the other layers that have been added over the decades. The Stanley Cup dates back to 17th century England. Its a historic artifact, and there is only one in existence. There are 3 "periods" in hockey, each one is 20 minutes. The blue lines on the ice mark each team's "zone". If you have the puck and are skating towards the other team's zone, the puck has to cross the blue line before you do. If you (or one of your teammates) enter the zone before the puck, your team is off-side.The play stops and the faceoff is in the neutral zone. The Goalie's area: the blue paint in front of the goalie is called "the crease". If your team has the puck and is in the other teams zone, you cannot go stand in the crease and wait for the puck. Thats called goaltender interference. However, you CAN stand just outside of the crease in hopes of deflecting your teammates shot into the goal. But you will take a beating by the defending team for standing there, they know what you're up to. Also, if you have the puck you are a target for the defensemen from the other team. Anywhere one the ice. You are a target and getting slammed into and possibly injured is fair. Hope this helps yall understand the game more. Hockey is fast, brutal and unpredictable. Ive seen teams make amazing comebacks in the last few minutes of the game. It aint over till its actually over.

Just to put the number 1 play in perspective; another GOATED player Mario Lemeuiex who played for the penguins won Stanley cup damn near on a play that was literally identical to what sid did and the statue of Mario’s play is outside penguins arena. It is believed that Mario could’ve even been better than Gretzky if his health didn’t fail him. And sid is still relatively young for nhl. He’s got at least another good 5-10 year stretch in his prime. Plus, sid has been said to be the second coming of Mario anyway, so yea, he’s on his way to 🐐 status
