Commodore Beckett had personal grudges against Jack Sparrow. He sent Jack to deliver a cargo to some place, Jack found out "the cargo" was 100 slaves. He declined & said "pople are not cargo, mate". Commodore labelled him as a pirate & tried to hang Jack for treason but he scaped with the cargo & delivered them to Tortuga. That's why Davey Jones said "100 souls" when Jack asked "how many souls my soul worths?"

Also that's why its the black pearl, the ship was burned and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Jack got it back after a deal with Davey Jones, the ship for 100 souls, the amount of people Jack freed.

@@billbill6094 Is it really something Jack would do though? If he was willing to give Will to Jones readily, then why we would he save a bunch of strangers, at personal risk? Unless he's more moral than we think, and he always/originally intended for Will to stab the heart so he wouldn't have to do it himself.

For future reference, these movies have end-credit scenes. The one from the first movie showed the monkey stealing a coin and that is why it is cursed still.

I always thought that lifting the curse in the first movie removed the actual curse from the gold and made it normal.

my favorite fun fact for this movie: the "i've got a jar of dirt~" bit was an ad-lib by johnny depp, which is why everyone looks confused and you can even see orlando and keira look past the camera with a wtf face. they're looking toward the director and film crew for answers

Barbosa did die, that's why the witch said: "You need someone who has sailed those waters." She meant waters of the dead, so now they go the end of the World.

rules of the liars dice: you know what you rolled, but you don't know the dice of the other players. when it's your turn you can either: 1 call the last player a liar 2 add to the number of dice ( the player before you said three 4, and you say four 4 ) 3 add the number rolled ( you say three 5) if you call someone a liar, and the dice they bet on are on the table you lose, if they are not you win. However you can only call the previous player, so the momen Bill entered the game, Will couldn't lose.

@@stanced_r33 lord ravenscraft made an amazing video breaking down the rules of the game and each character's move, showing how the game they played perfectly mirrors their personalities and motives. it's an incredible watch.

Elizabeth most likely wanted to rescue/resurrect Jack more than anyone else. She only sacrificed him due to the threat of the Kraken not any sort of animosity against him and likely sees rescuing him as a means to ease her guilty conscious.

Something really interesting about this time and Pirates, was that on a Pirate ship everyone had the same rights. Man, Woman, Child, Adult or your skincolor none of it mattered when you sailed on a pirate ship. There where alot of times where not a captain decided and more so the crew voted. So interestingly the pirates where the furthest when it came to equal rights.

As much as I love Captain Jack, Barbossa is probably my favorite character. The man is the quintessential pirate, and I love seeing Geoffrey Rush on screen as him.

I love him the most also. Not many notice but when they go to Tia Dalma and get the jar of dirt, she releases Jack (the monkey) who immediately rushes into the side room where you can see Barbossa’s legs on the bed.

Davey Jones in this movie and the next is still considered one of the best CG characters of all time. Dave Nighy knocked it out the park with his performance as well. He and Johnny Depp played against each other well, and they would come at odds again in their roles in the animated film Rango.

This movie is probably the best of the bunch. That kraken theme is iconic.

There's a deleted scene that shows Will played two games against Davey Jones. The first game, Will played for his father's freedom and won, ending his father's contract with Jones. The second game they play is the one we see for the key

I still can't get over the fact that 'I got a jar of dirt…* ad-lib like Johnny Depp just did that as an ad-lib and confused everyone in the crew and at the top of that he fell of the stairs for real 😭🤌🏻 the scene is that much more iconic cause of that 😭😭🖤

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is my favorite one of them all, perfect music, perfect story, and perfect fight scenes. I also recommend watch the fourth and fifth films, they're not as good as the first three, but still enjoyable to watch

The Davey Jones CG is some of the best I have ever seen in anything in my entire life. And this came out in 2006 which is crazy.

Don't forget the end credits scenes! Every POTC movie has end credit scenes just like a Marvel movie!

So, fun fact, the director actually told the crew that Anna Maria, the lady whose Jack stole then sunk at the beginning of the first movie, was going to be the one to appear at the end. As such, the cast was genuinely surprised when Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa) came down the stairs instead.

Fun fact, in the japanese version Davy Jones is voiced by Jiraiya :D

The human sized iron cage was actually a REAL West European thing , mostly used for Pirates ! 🤪 (And yes birds and other creatures of nature would pick your bones clean .... you where put in it and died from thirst/hunger and they let your body in it until you where ONLY bones or close to it)

This is my favorite Pirates movie. And I love the Davy Jones score.

The fact that a film released almost 20 years ago has better CGI and special effects than all the newest films is so impressive and worrying at the same time

On the black spot its like a beacon that draws the kraken to it as long as it isnt on land. So davey jones basicaly put Jack's execution/servitude on hold to gather souls and removed the black spot so he could gather those souls without evading the kraken

As long as the Black Spot is in place, the Kraken can track Jack down.

Fun fact: The kiss Elizabeth gives Jack in order to cuff him to the ship was intentionally left out of Orlando Bloom's script so the WTF look on his face is a genuine reaction.

20 years later and this movie still has some of the best CGI ever put on the screen. Back when they didn't have CGI artists make the entire movie from scratch and they actually used practical effects and stage design.

It baffles me that the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out when I was 3 and the second one when I was 4. Makes me wish I was born in the 90s instead of early 2000s so I could've watched them as soon as they came out. I bet everyone was extremely excited and in awe when they watched it.

The game/weager thing. Is kind of simple. It's like books in spades. Who ever predicts the hight number of duplicates. For example ( 3-5s will loose to 4-2s) if u predict correctly. If u go over u loose. So if u say 5-5s and only get 4 or less. U loose. But if u get 6 u only get 5. So basically ur risking how many duplicates u'll get of a particular number. Who ever bets the highest number of duplicates accurately wins it All

By far still my fav movie of all time!

The way dice works, is you roll the dice in the cup, you look at your roll and you call out your highest roll. I think you get double points for a matching set and number. So if you have 4 3s that's 12 points, but if you have 3 3s that's also 12 points. If I recall correctly, you have 5 dice so Booststrap calling out 6 3s was an impossible bluff, and Davy Jones called him out on it.

Close but not quite the game they are playing. They are calling the total amount of an individual number on all of the dice in play. So 4 Fours means that of the amount of dice in play, 4 of them are fours. 5 Fours means 5 dice are 4's and so on.

29:10 So the game being played here is called “liars dice” Each player usually gets between 5/6 dice and a cup (tho you can just use your hands or whatever to conceal/shake) All players roll their dice and then conceal them from everyone else. The objective of the game is essentially deception but also guessing. You are to try and guess how many dice of a certain number are under each cup combined and either lie or say the correct number and have someone call you on it as either truth or false. I.e. We have 3 player who all roll 5 dice. P1. Gets a 1, 3, 3, 4, 5 P2. Gets a 1, 4, 4, 4, 6 P3. Gets a 1, 1, 4, 5, 6 P1. Will then make the initial claim. I.e. 3 1’s (remember no other player knows the exact amount anyone else has, just their own). So P2, can then choose to either go “you are a liar” if he think he is “lying” or say “truth” if he suspect that P1 has guessed the correct number. P2. Instead of calling can also bump up the deal saying something higher. The only restriction for raising the bet are: You must either call a higher number of the suspected dice (I.e. he can’t say 2 1’s he can only say 4 1’s or higher) Or he can choose another dice face and start from the bottom (I.e. he can say 1 2, as it is a different face) Once the face chances you cannot go back, so jumping to 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 means you can only choose a face of higher amounts. And it’s here where the game run until 1 player calls wrong or correct. I.e. let’s say after a few go around P2 says 5, 4’s. P3. Suspecting that P2 might have a large number of 4’s if he’s making such a call and guessing averages between he and his companion on having 4’s between them decides to call him on “truth” At which point all cups are revealed and the claim is counted. In this case 5 4’s are there as such P2, was caught out and loses. However, say P2, made the claim 5 4’s and P3 called him a “liar” same would happen, all 3 would reveal, faces counted and it would be P3 who lost. This is a quite fun game to play with friends and it’s quite easy to bet money on. There are some small rule modifications you make it where anyone can make the callout not just the person on their right. You can have it on a success or fail you have to pass one of your dice to the successful liar or truther, or have 1 of your dice/there dice discarded reducing the dice pool to call from across all player or giving some players a greater advantage on knowing the call as they have more of the dice.

Barbosa did die... Tia Dalma brought him back from the dead. And that's what she was asking the crew... if they were willing to bring Jack back from death

This movie is peak cgi. But it fucked people’s expectations and the results of this movie being so good is one of the reasons vfx ppl are understaffed and cramming. They did this shit so well and fast back then, it became the standard when it’s just an anomaly. It’s why we get shit like black panther 1. Great movie but the last fight scene is a 0/10 in comparison to the rest of the movie and genuinely spoils it cos it’s one of the last things you remember, the first bp vs killmonger fight will always be the best, and this isn’t to knock their ideas. Like the idea of the tracks nullifying vibranium so they can actually hurt each other is great, but they executed it horribly.

This is the movie they used to play on the big and impressive TVs at stores like Best Buy to show off the high definition of the screens. But some TVs were TOO good, and made the CGI too sharp, so it would stand out against the rest.

definitely at least need to watch the next one, it's a part 2 of this movie essentially
