It's serious isn't it? Just amazing lyrics and music 🌹

Kelly wrote this when she was just 16. A couple of other suggestions are her stunningly beautiful rendition of I will always love you from the ACM awards & Meaning of life (Nashville sessions version) where she is in full powerhouse mode. For me, Kelly is the best singer on the planet.

I read that she wrote it just after winning American idol. But I think she started to write it when she was 16. In fact I have read how difficult was to her to make that they allow her to include the song in BREAKAWAY. You need to read about it, was so hard to her, because she was told even a "sh**y writer" ... it was so sad but she won and the song was a totally worldwide success.

She is the best. She is an Icon, I love her so so much. My favorie singer.

Every single time I hear it, it hits me. I completely understand the song, because I dealt with the same type of issue with my father. But this song has by far helped me! She also sings it with Reba McEntire, and it's fantastic!

Everyone is a product of their relationships in life. Life is tricky and not very easy for most. Keeping a kind open heart is the best way to navigate each day and even that can difficult at times. Children are innocent in every matter so showing love to others is the best education tonic for their little hearts.

Hi Psyche, gee Kelly is so relevant in her music. Great voice of course and so much meaning in her songs. She feels every word as do we. A child should be nurtured and grow to be the best they can be. A child can meander through their formative years and deal with negativity and for the most part grow up healthy. Disconnection/feeling unloved by a loved one, usually a parent can be devastating and last long into their adulthood. Seemingly small dismissals of love can be huge in effect over time. You are quite right about how we should be with others, we can't please everybody or like everyone as you say. Boundaries are fundamental to our well being of course. I have journeyed to a place in my life where I don't need everybody to like me, I just want their respect. That matters. Much light and love to you Psyche, hope you are feeling better. Cheers, Rich

This is a song from a daughter to a mother. I was abused by a man as a kid. My mom turned a blind eye. I relate to this song so much

Check out Kelly Clarkson live version at the 2006 Grammys. She won her first two grammys that night. She was emotional since she wrote Because of You when she was 16 .

Hi Jim - I don't like the Grammy's and they are tough on copyright - a bit of hit and miss with them, though I received an apology from them.

Parents and divorce, and what it does to their children. Kelly's father was an abuser, heartless, materialistic person who never wanted her. He went on to divorce Kelly's mother and started a whole new family. It was only when she became a star that he wanted to be in her life again, but by then it was too late...she wanted nothing to do with him.

Powerful poignant song. The damage parents inflict on a child can cause them psychological pain and mental illness for the rest of their life.
