First thing to remember this show follows game logic, the needle Lucy uses is called a stimpac and instantly restores your health. Yes Lucys father was shot with tranqulizers. Maximus is a squire and is the Knights servant. The brotherhood of steel is based on medieval orders of knights.

The things on their wrists are called Pip-Boys and they’re sort of like a multi-tool. In the game you use it to keep track of your inventory, missions, stats, etc.

What a fantastic production this was. Probably my favorite TV show since Star Wars: Andor. The casting is near-perfect, the sets, props and costumes are gorgeous and detailed, even the writing is solid. The various salutes to the games (such as Lucy using a "stimpak" on herself) put a smile on my face, too. An all-round class act, 8.5/10.

when you have a bomb shelter its only gonna have supplies to last the occupants of the house so letting in even one extra person would put your family at risk of starvation or dehydration

Back during the height of the cold war, they used to have PSA's on setting up fallout shelters and what supplies to have etc, they also had ones that warned of the dangers of trying to help others by letting extra people in when there is only enough supplies for the people planned to be in the shelter.

After Moldaver made the dad choose, he got tranqed and taken away. So as far as he knows, those other people got massacred in some way. He’ll have to live with that knowledge. The fact that she didn’t kill them and instead told them to run tells you two things: she’s not a monster that kills blatantly, but she wants the dad to think so (and live with the guilt of that choice)
