Disney movies like Coco and Moana were great to me for the fact that it was exploring and showing the different cultures around the world.

Same for _Ratatouille,_ weird though that may sound. As a cook, they nailed the chaotic chef culture.

And best of all, they were original stories instead of remakes with fake representation
This movie makes me tear up. When I saw it in theaters, I saw a lot of Mexican families in the theater. Multiple generations going to see it and the joy we all experienced seeing our culture expressed so beautifully- a lot of the grandparents didn't think they would ever see people love and care about their culture the way people have just from seeing this. I'm so glad you reacted to this.

Wait so it is culturally accurate ?

@@insignia9325 I mean pretty much. Idk that a lot of us believe in this colorful afterlife in this way but yea. Like those flower petals are used for specific reasons, spirit animals are a thing, the ofrenda is definitely a thing, the colors and designs are pretty traditional. People who really believe the old ways really do think people forgotten must disappear. We do think the dead can visit on this night. It’s an extremely important spiritual and cultural event so Pixar/Disney took it very seriously and heavily involved people from the culture and with respect for it. There was nothing that I could see that felt racist or pandering and it was just an incredibly beautiful way to show a family centric story that wants the emphasis on family to still include rights and progress while showing everything beautiful and amazing about this special time

@@RowanMarshmallow It's a beautiful tradition and I really enjoyed it as well. There are so many amazing children's stories from different cultures that Disney could respectfully adapt to make movies.
Saw this movie in the theaters two weeks after my Mexican grandma passed, and sobbed like a baby in front of strangers 😅. Love this movie so much! ❤

♥️, 🥀, 🌹, 🌅, 🌄, 🌌, 🕊 To you both above ☝🏼 I too lost my grandma and grandpa. My grandma passed first and my grandpa was ready to reunite with her so deeply that he happily went to be by her side less than a year or so after her passing. They had been together since they were teenagers, had 9 children (would’ve been even more had she not unfortunately miscarried multiple times) and never spent a moment or day apart. My heart sincerely goes out to all that hurt and grieve over the loss of whom we loved so dearly in life. Something I truly believe that was beautifully said in the movie “Ghost” that Patrick Swayze quoted in an interview shortly before his death from cancer as being his favorite line from any/all the movies he starred in was this - “It’s amazing Molly, the love inside…you take it with you” right as he said his final goodbye to his love as a spirit transitioning to the other side/heaven 💞 🙌🏼

My grandma died in 2013 and I still cry too. My nephew died at 3 yo in a car accident seeing the little kids on the other side is what really gets me bawling.
The gasp in theaters when Miguel said he didnt want to be on the "OFRENDA" was wild. im black and it even made me clutch my pearls lol..
That ending is heartwrenching
Hector *_did_* abandon his family to become a pro musician. That's all that Mama Imelda knew. What she didn't know was that, after leaving them, Hector realized that he made a huge mistake and tried to go home to make it right. But he never made it home because he was murdered. So Imelda was *_completely_* justified in being furious with Hector.
@ulfberht4431
2 ай бұрын
Even if she’s justified, it’s still very petty of her to ban all music and to make the family forget him. She didn’t have to forgive him as, you’re right, it is justified, but it’s so immature and thoughtless to forget Hector. Even though his decision was selfish (questionable at best) there no rational reason to forget someone.
all of the guitar playing in this film is accurately animated. each note played is correct.
Thank you for recognizing something positive about Mexicans….it’s true that family is everything. My boyfriend is Mexican American and he talks to each family member at least once a day. I’m white and I wish I had that sense of connection. I didn’t think Disney would put out a movie like this but they did a good job. 💜

Lol at “that dog look like it need a bath!” 😂 Dante the dog is a Xoloitzcuintli (xolo for short), a Mexican hairless dog breed that some ancient Mexican tribes believed were guides to the underworld. They’re both beautiful and scary looking in person.

The Mexica also had a deity called Xolotl, the Night Dog, God of Monsters and Guide to Mictlan. Naming the dog Dante is possibly a reference to the poet Dante Alighieri who traveled through the realms of the Dead in his poem The Divine Comedy.
@ronweber1402

@@themaestro2572 I would say that there is almost a 100% chance that connection is the reason behind Dante's name.
Is so interesting how people don't take the time to think about all the Mama Imelda went through and just don't get why she didn't forgive Hector right away.
I love this film because Great Grandma Coco reminds me of my own Grandma Mo. I moved in with her during the summer between Junior and Senior year in high school. She had cancer and I was caring for her in her final months. I brought my guitar along and played for grandma during her final days. I just can't help getting teary-eyed every time I see Miguel play for G.G. Coco at the end. It really connects.
Maaan I cry every time I see Miguel and Grandma Coco sing together 😂
Out of the songs in this movie, my favorite is "Un Poco Loco", which translates to "a little crazy". Also, speaking as a Mexican-American, this movie is pretty factual to real-life preparations/mythos for El Dia De Los Muertos, or the Day Of The Dead. Especially with Dante's role. As a breed of dog called a Xoloitzquintli (zo-low-eats-queent-lee), he has a role of being a spirit guide through the afterlife.
I married into Mexican culture and it's sometimes such a stark difference to Midwest life, but I absolutely fell in love with it. One of my favorite things my brought into my life was pan de muerto, which is eaten during dia de los muertos. They're addictive 😅

46:16 Man I'll tell you what I tell my kids - you don’t have to live out all the negative clichés of your generation (or culture). You can embody the best, and ignore the rest.
I started to cry from the time Ernesto says “He will be extending his stay.” That broke my heart, I couldn’t believe a man could do that to his own family. It was water works till the movie ended with Coco remembering the song and her own daughter. This movie hits close to home because my dad died from Parkinson’s, so it was very relatable to me.
36:19 It is actually the real life Voice actor's daughter who sings with him in that scene. Knowing that make this moment even more touching.
Coco made me BOOHOO! My grandmother, who was more like my mother, had alzheimers. Man this movie struck a cord with me.
Appreciate the love and respect you got for Mexicans 🇲🇽 We’re all about family, respect and love. Just sucks how the Cartels and the bad government give the country a bad look.

I think this is more American propaganda, u know ur county and u know it's problems , they exist but it's not only this. As all countries in the world (with few exceptions). They Control the media. If they have a vision about a country they have the power to export it to the world. Before the 9/11 u never saw movies with Arabian villains, they were more Eastern European. Anyway I just wanna say I never had a bad vision about Mexico
Also their was a lady that now is passed at 109 that inspired mama coco and they never formally recognized her or the family sadly from what I've heard
Inside Out and Up are Pixar’s finest.
This movie had me crying like a baby in the theatre. Such a beautiful story and wonderful display of a culture and the power of music and family.
I'm of Mexican descent. I've always wanted to know more of my heritage, I never really had much of a Mexican or Latino influence in my life. This film was really groundbreaking to me. It was very beautiful from beginning to end.
I absolutely LOVE your opening song 🎵! 🎶 *_I feel so proud of myself today!_* 🎶
This movie had me full on bawling in my living for a solid five minutes. I can't remember crying that hard... ever. I'm sure I did as a kid, but I know I haven't since I was a teenager. All my grandparents have passed, I was ending a relationship, it was a lot lol. I'll probably never watch this again, but it was great.
This was an incredibly heartfelt movie, and like you, I could see both sides, empathize with both sides, and wanted compromise. We really needed to take that journey, though, to reach the point where emotions and logic cross paths - where we finally have a real solution. Other recommendations would include Luca, Iron Giant, Chicken Run, and Encanto - if you haven't seen them yet, they should be at the top of your list. The feels!!!
The colours in this movie are stunning 💗.
As a Puerto Rican woman i may not celebrate dia de los Muertos but i completely understand the importance of family especially in Latina families and this movie always touches me ❤ "With every beat of my proud corazon" 🥹
I remember how packed theaters were when this came out
Great grandmother Coco looks just like my children's great grandmother so I can never make it to the end without crying my eyes out 😭🙏🏾❤️
Sometimes I avoid movies because I know I'm going to get emotional. When I saw you uploaded this, I took my chance to finally watch this movie. I haven't wiped the tears away, yet, but I'm excited for round two!
I cried, I'm Mexican and while it's not 100% accurate it shows a lot of our culture. The grandma made me cry because it reminded me of my grandma. We always do this for dia de los muertos, it's about not forgetting our family.
I love this movie. Great reaction. If only all families could be as close as they are in this movie. At one point mine was. I miss it. 🐾
Man this whole movie is amazing and emotional, but when coco remembers her daughter name at the end will always destroy me. My grandma is the same and it sucks seeing what it does to your mother, when her mother doesn’t remember her ❤
Actually, during Hector’s backstory he actually explains that he did abandon them but got homesick after a few months.
My son loves this movie, and honestly, so do I. Great story, amazing animation, and an incredible soundtrack (even if I don’t understand some of it) 😂
Hi Mr V, hope you've had a great day . Been good here today a nice Sunday roast at the pub then chilled with a few lagers and back in time to watch this. Looking forward to this film. Enjoy the rest of your day. Love to you and your family.❤
Was super surprised you didn't cry

Always makes me cry 😢 A lot of the time, people with Alzheimer’s or dementia will only come back with music. It’s something familiar that starts their minds and triggers memories. Such a sweet film ❤

I think it’s important to understand Hector did purposely leave. He left his family for months, possibly years. Yes he tried to come back, but he did leave. Emeldia’s anger isn’t out of nowhere.
Wassup Mr.video, it's good to see you still at it, I uses to watch you when you used to react on the plasma TV. All the best luck to you. Big ups!!

I loved your reaction to this, and you're pretty funny. I don't know what other movies you reacted to, but I am going to watch more reactions from you.
Being Mexican family is more about forgiveness. We’re all messed up in some kind of way but it’s love and forgiveness that keeps family together. I have Black and white family members but we all stay together because of that ❤️ You can have that too ❤️ Watch the Pixar movie “Encanto” next, it’s set in Columbia where there’s black white and everything in between and the culture makes family the most important thing also!
first time I saw this it easily crept its way up to one of my favorite Disney Pixar movies! this is such a wholesome reaction video lol. I'm happy you enjoyed it. It's so good and I loved learning about this tradition. The animation, the music, the story all top tier fr
You crack me up many times, I just missed seeing you cry at the end
Music is every thing to me Leo I was raised in a music family .my mum rest her soul could sing my dad could play to organ piano my sis cold play drums and Icould sing just like my mum bless her .I just wished that I could play the Guitar .coz then I could teah you how to play the quitar Leo I loved Coco the movie . when you put up I was so happy. but sadly I cried near the end you did better than me not crying Leo .I hope you are well take care Leo.
I love how you always react like I react 😂
Named our big doggo Dante from this movie, hes a very large XXL Bully breed and hes such a sweet giant , also named our cat Coco, so we have dante and coco ^^ and or last dog i actually named him Kenai cause he was large like a bear, and my cat who is still with me i named Koda, so i had Kenai and Koda, from Brother Bear ^^ sadly Kenai got really sick and he passed away years ago.. so now we have Koda and Dante living together and theyre besties :)
Loved this reaction!
You finally got around to watching this.
Two things how you know Arnesto is not his family when he has the petal and says I give you my blessing it doesn’t glow meaning he’s not family.. And throughout the whole movie Hector is bare foot but at the end when they all walk across the bridge together he now has a pair of shoes., Showing them welcoming him back into the family…
This movie is absolutely astonishing! One of the most well sxecuted twist villains I've ever seen Disney/Pixar do! I didn't see those twists at the end coming at all. And the message and the songs! The contrast between how Ernesto sings compared to how Hector sings is just powerful! Just everything is amazing!
This is your sign to book a trip to Mexico City asap!!
He did leave her only but after months away he wanted to come back home but was killed. She is mad that he still left them in the first place.

Hot coffee, butter toast and rainy morning lets gooooo
I have a fond memory with this movie {even tho I don’t be watching Disney like that anymore} not only because I’m Mexican and can relate to this movie based off its cultural representation but also when it first released in theaters I was in Mexico at the time {my last time in a long time, I’m going back real soon for the first time in a LONG TIME} it was during the week where they celebrate the day of the dead in Mexico… I went with my family to see a movie and we watched Coco… in Spanish… in Mexico… DURING THE DAY OF THE DEAD… I will always hold that memory close to me 🇲🇽❤️ I’m excited to go back in 2 weeks after almost 6 years…

If you would like to watch another Disney movie about latino culture and the importance of family, I would recommend reacting to Disney's Encanto. Another movie that is treasured by latino families. And it doesn't hurt that it's a great story with great music.
This was so fun. You are my very favorite reactor and I decided to watch this with you. It was great and so are you. I wish you were still doing Elvis reactions.
