Everyone remembers the line “that’s just the way it is, some things will never change.” But they forget the most important part- the line that follows- “ahhh, but don’t you believe them.”

Amazes me that black culture has been so ingrained in one style of music that they missed decades of great music like this..

Tupac basically took the entire song and rewrote the lyrics. Sincerest form of flattery.

Bands in the day had to prove themselves on their skill, no auto tuning or computer generated music here.....

Bruce Hornsby, a native of Williamsburg, Virginia, is my all time favorite person in Rock and Roll, and a great musician, songwriter and human being. No wonder the Good Ol' Grateful Dead wanted him to play with them for a couple of years in the early 1990's. Had the pleasure of seeing him play live on many occasions, both with The Range, and when he played with The Dead, and he was always the same, FANTASTIC. Thanks Teez, hope you enjoyed it, sounds like you did.

I only learned a few weeks ago that Bruce was the piano on Bonnie Rait's "I Can't Make You Love Me." I'd always loved that piano and had never connected it to Bruce Hornsby.

Bruce Hornsby left an indelible mark on the West Coast sound of the 1980s in California. A composer, musician and singer, Bruce Hornsby is equally at home in jazz, rock, funk, classical music and blues, and is also a seasoned and acclaimed bluegrass musician. He also played with the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia, before making a name for himself on the silver screen, in the film "World's Greatest Dad", with Robin Williams, or Backdraft.

My first apartment was just across a creek and a street from an auditorium. The night I moved in, there was a music festival going on in the park on front of that auditorium, and when I went out on my back porch Bruce Hornsby was playing this song, and I could hear it very clearly. It wasn't my thing at the time as a punk rock kid, but I stayed out there for the rest of the concert. He was fantastic.

Bruce is definitely talented , shows music has no borders with the fact that Tupac sampled this. Kinda like when artists from two different genres collaborate & it works out perfectly ❤

TOTP stands for Top of the Pops, a live music show in the UK. All the hugest stars played on there like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes...really just every great artist. Started in 1964 & was still big until around 2006! Something like American Bandstand, Soul Train or The Midnight Special we used to have in the US.
