Bo was a great baseball player. An all-star. Tremendous power, tremendous speed, a great arm. He had it all. As an RB he was absolutely one of the best. Watch the 30 for 30.

Then you do not know baseball. He never deserved a all star spot. But the fans bought into the BS hype. He was a below average baseball player. I bet you did not know only 1 time in his career was his BA above his teams BA. When he retired in baseball he was only ranked as the #30 KS baseball player of all time & considering KS franchise had only been around 20 years at that point. Not so good. As far as a RB goes, just for perspective. He ranks at over 3000 all time for yards rushed by a NFL RB. There was a reason he would only get 14 carries per game. He would tire by end of game. Terrible blocker & pass receiver. John Madden said he could never learn the play book. 4 years he averaged 695 yards per year & 4 TD's per year.

He and Herschel Walker were just freaks. I think Bo had more agility than Walker, but both guys were SPECIMENS. The only two guys ive ever seen that were that big, and still have OLYMPIC type speed.

Greatest athlete I’ve ever watched during my life. His baseball abilities were unmatched in an era loaded with hall of famers. Not sure we’ll ever see anyone like him again.

I feel bad for the people who didn’t live this era .. us in our 40s and up we remember how dope Bo was

Crazy part is...football was his hobby, he thought of himself as a baseball player that played football in the off season....would have been HoF in both sports if he stayed healthy...he was a better baseball player than running back🤯

One of the most exciting athletes of all time. I had the pleasure of meeting him many times as my brother played for the Royals. Many people do not know this about Bo and is crazy to me but his passion is hunting. He is straight country lol! There are some videos on youtube of Bo hunting. If I remember correctly he uses a cross bow. How the deer do not notice Bo up in the tree stand idk but after he made a kill I am not kidding he was almost in tears saying it has been almost a year since he had made a kill and it felt so good? It was kind of weird lol!

The athletes overall are better today, but the best ever played in the mid/late 80’s. Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Mike Tyson, Lawrence Taylor.

Walter Payton!!! That dude never went down and he played many years where he was the only offense the Bears had. He played 11 years without missing a game. The dude was a legend.

Yes, Bo was the best athlete to ever walk the Earth. Ironically, his career was ended because during a tackle he was so strong that he ripped his bone out of its hip socket shattering it. The amount of force needed to do something like that is unfathomable.

BO is the best athlete I have ever seen in my life. Dude was seriously the GREATEST. Watched him throw out a runner that tagged up on 3rd and BO caught the fly ball almost at the wall. He then proceeded to throw the runner out at home plate on a laser throw. Crazy. Then when he ran over the BOZ.. epic

I remember the hype leading up to that game, the Boz vs Bo, Mono y Mono, who would come out on top. Bo got the best of him on that play. Bo Jackson could've been a top 5 all time running back in the league had he not got hurt. I'm not a raider fan, but he was must watch tv when he played.

I was about 8 when Bo burst on the professional sports scene. Even though I was a Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan, I was a huge fan of Bo (like everyone at the time). When he went down, it rocked both the NFL and MLB. It was like a collective mourning. We all knew we had just been robbed of what was likely to be an all time great in not just one, but two major sports. Side note: even video game maker Tecmo recognized the awesomeness. If you played as the Raiders on Tecmo Bowl (1989), all you had to do was a handoff to Bo, and you basically walked in the endzone every time.

I'm 54. Bo was by FAR the best all around athelete I ever saw. Probably the best RB I ever saw. Barry a very close second. A guy who has a great highlight tape and who never gets enough discussion with the best RBs is Earl Campbell. Amazing power back you guys should check out.

What could have been. He had the agility and speed to make guys miss, but his tackle breaking ability, was at a whole other level from any RB ive ever seen in 40 years of watching football. Payton, Brown, and Campbell are the only ones even in the same ballpark.

@@chocolatetownforever7537 I'd put OJ in that group as well if we ignore his off the field troubles. OJ was on a 4x100 world record relay team so the dude had serious speed and his moves were amazing as well. The thing people will probably say is that he didn't break as many tackles but he was actually very powerful and hard to bring down as well. As for others, I think Dickerson is just outside that group and of course Barry had the best moves and was the quickest. Emmitt was always pointed in the right direction and seemed to get an extra yard on every carry. Lots of great ones out there over the years.

I just want to make it clear that the guys I named were in reference to the sentence before, about tackle breaking only. Guys like Barry, Emmitt, and others, as RBS, were absolutely right there, and one can make an argument for being the best of all time. I just think Bo was different in terms of his athleticism.

Barry Sanders had the best moves and that's it. There were far better RBs that played the position completely. The greatest RB of all time doesn't get taken out on 3rd downs & goal line when his team needs him the most.

For you young's who weren't there...just consider this: Bo played about 4 years in the NFL...and we're watching this video and talking about him. In 2023. THAT is how good Bo Jackson was. The ONE rule we had playing Tecmo Bowl was you couldn't play the Raiders. There's a reason for that. It rhymes with Bo Jackson.

Not only did that squad have Bo and Marcus Allen in the backfield, they also had Tim Brown at WR.

That's what started free agency to become what it is today but some players still get wasted in there rooky contract either with a terrible team and or terrible coach. Being at the right place at the right time is so very prevalent.

Freak... Show. True story: When Bo was a freshman, I saw him play against Nebraska in Lincoln. Nebraska had a very good OLB - All Conference, second team All American, went on to play about 5-6 years in the NFL. Dude was no punk. No one outside the state of Alabama knew about Bo yet. Well, Bo had an education for their ass. He STEAMROLLED that stud linebacker. Ran his ass over like he was a blocking dummy. Fast forward several decades. I'm sitting in a local dive bar. The ESPN 30 for 30 featuring No was on TV. I was telling the guy I was drinking with about that story, when another guy a few seats down groans and grumbles. I asked him what was the matter. The guy at the bar WAS that linebacker. He told me he thinks of that play every time he hears the name Bo Jackson. I'm sure there are lots of guys who share that same sentiment.

His school records will NEVER be broken. He had more yards in 3 years than any other RB for that college has ever ran in 4. They will NEVER be broken. He was to college fb what gretzky was to hockey.. his numbers are so high that it's inconceivable anyone else will come close. The guy who holds 2nd all time there is like 2500 yards behind him lol.. an entire seasons worth of running

I get a kick out of these young men knowing football from before their time. Seeing #55 and "That's Bosworth" is cool. Noticing #32, Marcus Allen, out there. Everybody loved Bo, even Chiefs fans. He was that good, all recognized his greatness. I don't know the exact cause of his hip injury, but he stretched the human genome to its limits with his size, speed and power, combined. For us older fans, he was the next Earl Campbell, only faster.

They did not notice that Bo was running OVER the best Safeties of the time... he ran over Ronnie Lott and he ran over Steve Atwater; both of those guys were as legit as you can get and Bo ran through them(( remember Atwater changed Okoye's entire career with one hit))

80’s VHS “Bo know’s Bo”…..I wore that tape OUT as a kid. He’s the greatest all around athlete I’ve ever seen, THE STANDARD for greatness.

I had a boyfriend that went to Auburn when Bo was there so I got to see him play college ball and he just dominated. He was amazing. He’s also an amazing humanitarian here in Alabama today. Bo knows strength and compassion!

We know what an incredible athlete Bo was, but he’s also an incredible human being, so generous! Secret is out, he just paid for all the funerals of the children and teachers who were killed in the mass school shooting in Texas! A beautiful humble giving man!!☮️❤️

The amazing thing about Bo as a running back is that he was a power back and a speed back at the same time. He could lower his shoulder and knock a defender on his butt. Then, immediately turn on the afterburners and blow the DB's away.

Bo Jackson said he never worked out or went to the weight room. Dude is just a natural athlete. He also had one of the strongest cannons to ever play baseball. He threw a guy out at home who tagged up from third from the wall flat footed.

I remember the tv commercials with Dennis Leary and Bo Jackson. “I’m bringing Bo and his big bad hip…” Bo was a unique one of a kind athlete. So glad I got to see him play…

My favorite part is when the old Auburn baseball coach is standing at home plate in their stadium and pointing out various buildings Bo had home runs hit. "that dorm is about 475 feet, Bo hit that about halfway up. That building further out is about 550 feet, Bo shorthopped that one."

Bo Knows - Best athlete I've ever seen. I was in the Kingdome for 'The Throw". He fired a bullet from the left field warning track, gunning down the Mariners speedster, Harold Reynolds, at the plate with a perfect throw. It's on all the baseball highlight reels. At the time, I just shook my head and said to myself there's no way he just did that.

You guys should do a reaction to Eric Dickerson. Not many of the younger generation know about him but I think he still holds the rushing record for most yards in a single season at around 2100. I think he ran the 100 yard dash in like 9.5 or 9.6 seconds and the world record is like 9.1 or something. That guy was an amazing running back.

He should have never left the Rams. That offensive line was perfect for him. I know the Rams didn't pay what he deserved but he would have broke many more records. I also never seen a running back who could straight-arm tacklers like he could.

I enjoyed watching this through y’all, but don’t ever question the athleticism of Bo Jackson! He was a GOD among men! The best pure athlete EVER!

I'm from KC, loved watching Bo with the Royals when you could get into a game for about $7 upper deck, then in the later innings move on down to the seats behind home plate. Nobody checked your ticket back then. It was a real shame watching his last football run when he got injured in the playoffs against the Bengals, it confirmed what every Royals fan feared would happen. He could've played baseball for 15 years hitting 25-30 HR's a year and been a hall-of-famer.

Bo is probably the GREATEST athlete to ever live. He was headed for H.O.F. status in both sports. When his hip got busted all of us felt that in our souls

Bo was the only player to play in both an All-Star Game and a Pro Bowl. Best athlete of my lifetime.

Bo is the most ridiculous athlete I've ever seen. He was a Pro Bowler in football AND an All Star in baseball in the same year. Meaning, he didn't just play two sports, he was one of the best in both sports, at the same time.

Guys there were 2 sport guys long before Bo and Deon. I think Bo was by far the best of them. He was at least as good at his position in FB as Deon, and Bo was a much better baseball player. Years ago the Knicks had a guy named Dave Debusschere who was a 6'6" forward, and also pitched 1 or 2 seasons in the Majors for the White Sox. He then played a couple more years of minor league ball and then stopped and concentrated on playing BB and also coached. There is an old TV western called The Rifleman. The star was a guy named Chuck Connors. Before he hit it big as an actor, he played 1st base for the Cubs and played for the Celtics too. There are others as well. Truth is fellas there ain't nothing much being done today that hasn't been done before. That's not me hating, just being truthful. As an older guy I appreciate you guys looking into some of the older players. Keep learning. Y'all be safe.

BIG FACTS!!! Deion was a beast of a football player and a very good baseball player...no doubts about that. Bo was a beast in both sports. Consider this...we're watching a video about his accomplishments and he only played 3 seasons in the NFL and 8 seasons in MLB due to a one in a million injury.

If you lower your shoulder and hit Ronnie Lott like that, you are a different kind of beast. Bo was phenomenal

We are so proud of Bo Jackson in Alabama. Auburn Tiger or Crimson Tide fans- we all yelled for Bo whatever sport or team he played for. He’s a fantastic man off the field as well. That always matters.

Deon was a decent baseball player and HOF football player. Bo would have been the first person to be a HOF in two sports if he didnt get hurt. Guy was just so much better than everyone else and even other players just shook there head.

A friend of mine played linebacker at a high school that went up against Bo's every year. He said Bo frequently got around him because he couldn't catch him...but when he did catch him, Bo just ran right over him.

A guy I know played linebacker at Alabama. He caught a Bo Jackson knee to his forehead trying to tackle him and said he was out cold for a good minute or two.

Bo was an absolute superstar! Nobody had seen that kind of speed at that size before. I think he still holds the record for fastest 40 in Combine history at 4.13 if memory serves. May have been 4.12. The greatest athlete to ever walk the Earth was Jim Thorpe. He played 4 sports and won medals in the Olympics.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but Bo came back from hip replacement surgery and played baseball with an artificial hip for a season or so... he would play a full season of basball, then join the Raiders halfway through the football season. Sanders was very good, but not nearly the basball player Bo was. Bo was an all star in both sports. 😊

And look at his track & field performances. 10.39 100m, 13.81 110m hurdles, 6'9" high jump, 24'8" long jump, 48'9" Triple Jump, 50 ft shot and 149 foot discus. Insane.

@drsus0 @drsus0 Bo never did the NFL combine. His supposed 4.13 came from a local Auburn combine. There is no reason we should take this seriously. There is no way to verify the time or even the accuracy of the equipment. Given all the fastest sprinters have clocked around the low 4.2 range makes it fairly obvious the 4.13 didn't happen. Even Usain Bolt clocked a 4.22. There is no universe in which Bo was faster over any distance as Usain Bolt.

It was done electronically (thankfully because the hand stop watches had him at 4 flat) . Finally someone other than me & a small few with common sense. Bo was one of my childhood hero's BUT, as I've grown older & have experienced life & not a child anymore, I realized the Bo is a liar about his 4.13 40-yard dash. And to correct you, Bo's fastest legal FAT 100m time was only a 10.44 & not the windaided 10.39 Google keeps posting. No track athletes talk about their illegal winded times bc they don't count. Anyway I'm glad to see that you call BS about Bo's nonsense 4.13 "electric" time when the NFL didn't have that technology until 1999 & Bo left to the NFL in 1985-1986.

I love when younger giys like yourselves take an interest in the older guys like this . Im 45 and i watched him up until he got hurt . Was great in both sports and wouldve probably been in the HOF in both sports if he stayed healthy. U should look up Barry Sanders too! Two of my favorite RBs of all time!

I beg to differ with you there he's in a category nobody else is he has been both NFL championship and MLB championship games nobody else has done that in history. He played for Atlanta which they lost but then he won the 2 super bowls.

@@WahooSerious when you use logic like that I'm pretty sure that bo couldn't cover one whole side of a field and shut that down like Dion did they were both special athletes and both talented in their own ways. You got to remember Dion played both sides of the ball whether he was running it ,playing wide receiver slot receiver or returning punts kickoffs he played everywhere pretty much. As far as skilled positions Bo did not don't get me wrong. I think they're both incredible athletes just in their own niche. End of debate.

If you grew up in the 80s/90s and played Tecmo Bowl, you knew to play the Raiders and Bo Jackson.

Bo was UNBELIEVABLE!!! He was everyone's sports hero... even if he wasn't on your team...TRAGIC that he had his career cut short by injury...and I'm fully in Broncos Country---only Raider I didn't HATE😁

When Bo was in physical therapy recovering from his injuries, he learned to shoot bullseyes using a bow and arrow with he feet. One of the fastest athletes ever, one of the strongest athletes ever, and one of the most coordinated athletes ever

Bo Jackson was one of the fasted men in the NFL. Opposing coaches would tell you, that every time the man touched the ball, you had to just hold your breath because he could literally break it and go all the way every single time. He was incredible.

Remember fellas he played football as a hobby(no preseason, no OTA's, baseball season was his warm up to football. Baseball was his commitment. He always finished playing the ENTIRE baseball season first, then he played baseball. If he would've never gotten seriously injured he was NEVER going to play anymore than 11 games per season.

NFL fan Redskins from the early 80s from Auckland New Zealand.Older brother played College football for Cal Berkeley in the early 90s.But Bo Jackson when your a freak of nature generated that much power or thrust where his leg came out of that tackle and mislodged those joints?Its just a freak accident everyone has to accept.

Bo was a much better baseball player than Prime. He’s the only player to be an all star in both sports.

That Dion vs Bo game was crazy. Bo hit 3 homeruns. Late in the game he dove for a liner that Deon hit. Missed and badly injured his hip. That was the same hip that caused his NFL retirement a year later. Deon hit an inside the park homerun. Bo was supposed to bat the following inning and try to hit his 4th homerun but he had to be removed from the game. In his first game back from injury he hit a homerun; meaning he hit 4 homeruns in 4 straight at bats tying a Major League record.

I'm a few years older than you gentleman - let me tell you just what was so amazing about Bo Jackson. I saw it all from his freshman year in college where they beat alabama in the Iron Bowl for the 1st time in 11 years... Auburn people then had HOPE. Tampa Bay Bucs owner held the 1st pick in Draft & wanted him so he set up a visit to Tampa that got Bo kicked out of his last year of NCAA baseball - he hated tampa bay so bad that he went to baseball instead pf football - he had to play in AA Memphis and worked his way to Majors. Then The Raiders came calling the next season & he played football "as a hobby" - that's what the man said - a hobby like fishing or hunting.... ! On the football field he was BY FAR the most exciting player in the NFL. He would RUN OVER players BIGGER than him and outrun players smaller than him.... not the other way around... he was THAT good.

I’m not even a raider fan, & this guy would have been the leader of RBs easily if he hadn’t gotten hurt guys! This dude was SOOO talented it was crazyyy. In baseball he would throw you out almost from the wall, look it up. Just a serious freak of nature! Never seen it sense

You should watch ESPN’s 30 for 30 on Bo Jackson. It is an awesome thing to watch. If he had gotten his hip looked at appropriately right away his career would not have been cut short.

Bo was the greatest athlete, period. Even Deion Sanders has said that consistantly. The greatest part about Bo was he told Tampa Bay that he would not play for them and note to draft him. They did and he went and played Baseball. The next year Al Davis drafted him in the 7th round and the rest was history.

Bo Jackson, Mike Tyson, and Michael Jordan…the late 80s/early 90s were a special time.

Only athlete ever to make an All Star game in 2 sports. Also is the only person in NFL history with 2 90 yard touchdown runs. I did a couple of reports on him through my years at school. One of the most interesting athletes ever. Just a straight up freak of an athlete. Y'all need to watch his ESPN 30 for 30: Bo Knows.

Steve Largent, playing for the Seahawks, recalled a game where Bo came up the sideline on a run at locomotive speed. He said there was a "WHOOSH" as the air was displaced by Bo's acceleration.

Bo still played Baseball for a few years after the injury, with an Artificial Hip. Crazy. Bo was a Pro Bowl Football player and an All Star Baseball player. Had he stayed healthy possibly could have made Hall of Fame in two sports. Or imagine had he played just one or the other where his body could fully adapt to the sport. Tampa Bay had the 1st pic that year he came out of college and tricked him into visiting their facility which lost his eligibility to play Baseball. That was the deciding factor for him to say he was playing pro baseball over football but raiders drafted him anyway in the 7th and talked him into playing both. So raiders got the projected #1 overall pick in the 7th. Crazy

Bo Jackson is the closest I've ever seen to a real life super hero. It was before laser timing, but NFL camp coaches were clocking his 40 at 4.21. Yes. The Raiders had Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson at the same time. They had to. Bo was a 2 sport athlete. Football starts in late August/early September, but Bo played MLB until late October/early November. Half the season was over when Bo joined the Raiders each year. He played 4 HALF seasons and put up those numbers. Tecmo Bowl was the first NFL licensed game on a personal video game console, the original 1986 NES. The Raiders were considered the cheat team because they had Bo, Marcus, and the fastest man in the NFL at the time at WR, Tim Brown. Bo dislocated his hip, but that wasn't the real injury. When he decided to pop it back in place on the field he pinched his femoral artery in the joint cutting off blood to his whole leg. He came within a hair of having to have his leg amputated. Drs. told him he could not possibly risk another hit to his hip and still expect to have his leg, so he gave up football.

Best athlete I've ever seen. He also ran track at auburn and his 60m record was only broken recently. He high jumped 7' in high school. He was qualifying for the 1992 winter Olympics bobsled team.

I'm from Alabama. Bo played for Auburn the Tides worse nightmare. He is a great athlete. I saw a documentary where all these athletes were rated and Bo was voted the BEST.

Grew up watching Bo. Had he not been injured, Bo would be in Canton. Pure natural ability

I’ll never forget when he was playing RF for the white sox and caught a ball on the track then threw a frozen rope to third to double up a player tagging from second. My brother and I looked at each other with our jaws dropped. We still talk about it to this day. I’ve never seen a stronger throw.

I like what y'all said about the current players, being double drafted...but there will never be another bo Jackson, he was built different

The best part, the absolute best part of Bo gunning down Reynolds at the plate, is Reynolds arguing that he was safe. Harold, we watched it on slow-mo, you got smoked.

The pride and joy of McAdory. Side note, I remember when Glen Bragg broke and bat over his back when he whiffed on a pitch.

Don't forget Dion Sanders. The best cornerback ever, other teams refused to throw his way. He was so good he limited the other team's offense to minus one wide receiver. He played pro baseball as well. He was a good line drive hitter with occasional power, maybe a 2.70 or so hitter and he could steal as many bases as he wanted. Fast in the outfield as well. Maybe the 2nd best pro overall behind Bo Jackson. I think he made the all-star team in baseball one or more years. I believe he played in a world series or playoff game for Cincinnati, then a football game for Atlanta on the same day.

He wasn’t the best CB ever. Close, but not the best. Deion was an atrocious tackler. Plenty of great CB’s effectively removed a WR from the opposing offense.

They should have had his college highlights. Bo once had 176 yds and 3 TDs in the first qtr of a game.

I grew up in KC. Our dad took us to the very first open BP with Bo. We would go watch him ding balls off the Jumbotron. And we saw him at least once every year in the AFC West. Being inducted in the Royals Hall of Fame this weekend.

Worth noting that Dave Winfield got drafted by each of the big 3 pro sports leagues: MLB (Padres, 1st round), NBA (Atlanta Hawks, 5th round) and NFL (Vikings, 17th round). He went on to have a Hall of Fame baseball career, so most argue he made a good choice.

Another great that sometimes gets overlooked because he was injured after 6 years, was the great Gale Sayers. As a young man, he was the guy we loved to watch the most.

No doubt Bo is the greatest athlete I've seen in my 47 years on this planet. But I've always been more impressed with the quality of person he is.

When Bo was in high school, he was a decathlete. His freshman year, his coach made him do all ten events. His soph year, he told the coach he didn't want to do the mile run because he HATED the mile run. His coach told him that if he had a big enough overall lead going into the mile (the last event of a decathlon), he didn't have to do it. Bo never ran another mile. He was winning 10-event meets with 9 events. There are all sorts of Paul Bunyan-esque, apocryphal stories about Bo Jackson. One is that when he was a teenager, he threw a rock so hard it killed a pig. And I maybe got a detail or two wrong in the decathlon story, but it's *mostly* true. Bo hated the mile and cut that deal with his coach. He won 2 state championships and didn't run the mile either time. You guys may scoff at the hand-timed 40s, but allow me to remind you that Deion's 40 time was ALSO hand-timed.

Bo was just a freak from a different planet!! He was Faster, Stronger, Quicker , Smarter Everything Better! He grew up in the country and they were very poor. I don't think he really lifted weights or trained until college. Bo & Deion were the only two people to play both sports at an All-Star level!

Yeah John Elway too, he told the Colts before the draft that if they didn’t trade him, he would go play for the Yankees. True story.

One of his college coaches were interviewed. He said he ran a 4.2 something in the 40 yard dash AFTER practice. A scout showed up who wanted to see Bo Jackson run. The coach told him, and Bo said he didn't want to do it. The coach talked him into it so Bo said, I'll run but I'm not coming back. So he ran the 40 yard dash and just kept going. He didn't even care what he ran, or what the scout thought hahaha. It's a shame what happened to him. A rare injury. If it didn't happen, he would've absolutely been reaching those rushing titles.

it wasn't just his speed which was INSANE, he was also HUGE! Like a damn linebacker O_O...and mind you he did this with zero training camp for the NFL. He basically played just over half the season and still would put up close to 1,000 yards. Sadly, his power was also his curse, he was SO powerful, had he been less powerful he could have survived the injury according to doctors.

Bo's best 100m time was a 10.44 which is a far cry "world class" speed or "track athlete." He wasn't that fast. There are over 50 men in NFL history that were faster than him.

You have to keep in mind too that back in the day when he played sports MEN PLAYED SPORTS, AND BY THAT I MEAN THERE WERE NO BUSHY GUSHY SNOWFLAKE RULES FOR HEAD CONTACT OR PLAYER PROTECTION.. it was everybody beast mode from the first to the last whistle! And this dude look like a man among boys out there with some of the all-time greatest players who ever put on a helmet, is super sad that his career got cut so short the way that it did. And you got to think he wasn't just a monster on the football field this dude was a two sport athlete, this dude can throw a baseball on a frozen rope from centerfield to the catcher and throw somebody out and not even breathe hard. Dude was a beast and he definitely has to be at least in the top five if not higher best athletes of all time it's just because his career got cut so short is the reason why people don't give him all the glitz and glamor that he deserves!! And this is coming from a damn Alabama fan when he played for Auburn and was the main reason why they beat us..
