I have those comics and they are based off Cameron’s screenplays, right? What sucks is there is some vital information in those comics that non-Avatar fans (or at least ones who does follow the lore closely) need to know to answer some of their questions; Spider’s mom and Quaritch, for example.

@@dgurlie-0273 Yeah, whish they added a couple of the scenes in the new movie since it basically is very important to the timeline. Such as Jake's constant fear of the humans coming back, kiri's special bond with her ikran, why spider was left behind, what happened during the 1 year time skip...

Kiri was “controlling” the fish and the plants; not the water itself. But, whatever. Glad you guys enjoyed it. There are other franchises that use the elements as inspiration for tribes, regions, and what not. Avatar The Last Airbender just so happens to be the last popular of franchises that does it. Lego Bionicle, for example, is way more of a rip off of TLAB than Cameron’s Avatar, even though Bionicle did come out first. The characters in both franchises actually controlled those elements where as in this Avatar, the Na’vi just adapt to their environments. But that’s just what I think, I guess. In the third movie when we meet the Ash People, if they have a scarred prince banished with his uncle and can’t return home until he regains his honor, then and only then we’ll talk about Cameron “ripping off” Avatar TLAB.

And the avatar comics came out before atla. Navi aren’t…elemental benders💀 it’s more spiritual powers for kiri bc of how she was created

Cameron said that Quaritch wont be the main villain but he will appear in all movies. I guess it hints that he will have some redemption arc

I love how the comics expand the world, provide more human perspectives (both the Na'vi sympathizers & RDA loyalists) & conflict within the Na'vi culture (there's one about a power struggle inside the Omaticaya clan). If stories like that can be adapted somehow into the later sequels that'll be amazing.

Fyi Grace died in the first movie, not her avatar. They tried to permanently transfer her consciousness into her avatar, same as they ended up doing with Jake at the end of the movie, but she was already too weak for the transfer to be completed. I think it's pretty obvious though that Eywa is the culprit in Kiri's conception. She couldn't transfer Grace so perhaps she chose to sort of reincarnate her through Grace's avatar.

It will be very interesting to see your joint reaction to the films Robocop and Robocop 3. This is a cool immortal classic 👍
