I second the vote for “Imagine”.

The bass is Matt Salee who joined the group in 2017 after Avi Kaplan left the group. Avi was with the group from the beginning and left after 6 years. All the other are originals.

"The Prayer" and "O Holy Night" are absolutely AMAZING, and really show their range. . . . all their songs do - keep going down the rabbit hole!

I don't care who you are, when Miss Kirsty hits the rafters at the end, the Holy Spirit is gonna get ya.

Or Seal's "Kiss From A Rose" - Kevin is the only artist I've ever heard "celloboxing". ♥

Hearing Kevin sing for the first time makes you question everything you thought he was singing in previous videos.... The bass you hear isn't usually Kevin. It's mainly avi or Matt (the regular bass singers) with SCOTT covering when they are doing solos. Kevin almost always covers rhythm section or sings high like this.

It may not be Christmas...but to really blow your mind about a song you think you know, check out their version of "O Come All Ye Faithful" which Kevin arranged ain honor of his parents. It's common for Pentaholics to play Christmas music year around so no one will object or think you're crazy.

If you watch closely, you'll see that Mitch has wings on the back of his jacket.

Kevin (Beatboxer) does it again. This was a surprise but he also sings in "Mary Did You Know?"/"I Just Called to Say I Love You"/"Evolution of Music" and "Evolution of Michael Jackson" and a few brief moments on other songs. Kevin's arraignment of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" shows his African heritage and Honors his parents. Once you hear it, you will NEVER want to listen to the original again. They have also developed an 18 minute segment of their concerts known as "Kevin's 5th" that will surprise you. Kirstin's verse was highlighted by the guys all dropping back to let her shine. They do let each other shine.

In this version, PTX pays attention to the origin of the song when Kirsty provides the "drone" similar to bagpipes for that intro versions. When Kevin sings, he is clearly a tenor.

When Mitch and Kirstin were asked who could sing the highest, they both turned around and pointed to Kevin! BTW, he is always a tenor. The fact that he works so closely with the bass (first Avi and now Matt) fools a lot of listeners into thinking he's a bass too. I love how Kirstin starts out so gentle and soft here, with lots of vibrato, like she's channeling Dolly Parton, and then starts belting with such beautiful force. Scott has, without doubt, the loudest voice in the group, but I think Kirstie comes in second. Speaking of Dolly, check out their collaboration with her on her song Jolene. Unbelievably, he had never won a Grammy until this performance with Pentatonix!

Actually I've seen them together, all try to hit a whistle note. Kirstie, did it. The others, not so much. I've also seen interviews, where they are asked, who sings the highest, they all agree, they don't know. She's trying to be nice, polite. But if you listen to the live version of Seasons of Love, you will know, when you hear Kirstie's runs, riffs, and whistle notes, when she really feels it, and cuts loose. Also everyone knows what a powerful voice she possess, and she Definitely is the Best Belter.

Welcome to the world of Pentaholics! We can never get enough!

This came out on their Christmas 2020 album. Covid Christmas. It was a needed song for so many with 2020 being such a tough year for so many. When Kevin came in at the end it just broke me the first time I heard it. If you like R&B I would suggest 'If I Ever Fall in Love' or 'Let's Get it On' from The Sing Off. They can and do sing any style, genre and have also sung all or parts of songs in different languages. They have also gotten a Grammy for singing a classical song with no words. They never fail to astoud.

Keep up the great work! If you want another Kirstie banger, Can You Feel the Love Tonight should be on your list!

Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi, otherwise known as Mitch, is the owner of the amazing voice you heard as lead in Bohemian Rhapsody- and every PTX song. Amazing Grace is one of my favorite covers of theirs. At some point you should listen to one (or more) of their originals: Love Again, Coffee in Bed, Sing, Be My Eyes, Happy Now, New Year’s Day, See Through, and Never Gonna Cry Again to name a few. Can’t Hold Us and Problem are great covers with some rapping sections. O Holy Night and Kiss From a Rose are two recent and mind-blowing songs. Everything they touch turns to gold. Oh yeah,… their cover of Gold is epic, too. 😊

Most people miss it, but having a Celtic heritage, I love the intro where Kirstie and Kevin are droning a discordant note in the background to represent bagpipes. Pipers, even a single piper, often play this song for solemn occasions like funerals or memorial services. The only reactor I've heard who picked up on it was a Scottish guy, and now that I know what it is I can't unhear it! Lovely reaction. Going to check out your Bohemian Rhapsody...

Kevin is not a bass. He is a tenor who plays cello saxophone and piano

When I first heard this, I thought MItch's part was the best I have ever heard anyone doing this song. A minute later, I thought it was the second best I had ever heard.

This song was the first time we were gifted with Kevin's beautiful tenor voice. He had not sung a solo before.

He sang in several songs before this one. The 3 I can think of off the top of my head are Sing. Say Something, and Little Drummer Boy.

Kirstin can belt! Also, their famous Wall Of Sound occurred at 9:03 in this reaction. Recommend their cover of Shallow.

You’ve got to listen to The Prayer. They will blow your mind. Kevin does the beatbox and tenor and Matt does the bass. Kevin was the one who hit those high notes at the end.

one of the extra amazing things about this group is that they do their own arrangements. They sometimes bring in some extra help, and have had a long relationship with Ben Bram who helped bring them together originally and has worked with them producing a lot of what they do.
