Rodney was one of the best of the best and there are many clips of him on KZread. He also made several films "Back to School", "Caddyshack", "Lady Bugs" and "Meet Wally Sparks" are some where he was the star. He also appeared in Adam Sandler's "Little Nicky". Johnny Carson was and always will be the king of late night. He hosted the Tonight Show for 30 years before he retired 1962 - 1992. He was friends with Sinatra and his Rat Pack as well as Don Rickles who is another one of the best of the best comedians along with Richard Pryor and Allen King.

The story of Rodney, is both tragic and brilliant. You know, he gave up his career early on to raise his kids (as he was literally abused and abandoned) worked as a salesman to raise his family. And when I say abused, deary, deary me what he endured Rodney re-entered Entertainment as an aged man. Huge, huge respect for that. 👌 Put his kids first. 👍

This is what was called "gag humor". Very fast-paced one-liners. This was first popularized in the old Vaudville shows. A lot of the early TV comics did this sort of stuff. It wasn't until Richard Pryor and George Carlin that the modern "story humor" became popular.

Director Oliver Stone said once in an interview that when he met with Mr. Dangerfield to discuss whether or not he would appear in the film, Rodney was hesitant because the role was not funny. Stone found himself in the precarious situation of arguing with one of the funniest people ever about what is funny! His role in Natural born killers was darkly comedic to be sure, but the director had to work hard to convince him of the comedic value.

if you liked Rodney Dangerfield's unfiltered comedy on Johnny Carson, you should also watch Don Rickles ...HE was a frequent guest on the Tonight Show . Was also great on the old celebrity roasts they would do at the MGM Hotel in Vegas....all great old school unfiltered comedy...loved it all..

Good afternoon Brad and Lex. Peace and blessings to you and your family. You both made an excellent observation about how much entertainment has changed from my generation ( I grew up in the 60's ) to now. Most of the music, comics, radio, TV and movies from the 60's 70's 80's and possibly 90's would get cancelled today. I could go on a mile long rant but I think it's great that both of you aren't locked into seeing the world through a very narrow lens. This is a big world out here with so much to experience and learn from. Never allow anyone to put you in a box. I have no doubt that both of you will be great parents. It does take a village to raise a child. So your baby will be loved by an entire village of music lovers.

You need to watch “Caddyshack.” His character delivers a nonstop monologue every time he’s on screen. Yes, the 70’s and 80’s were lit.

This stream was a lot of fun! Looking forward to more of them. It is best to keep stand up and skits or sketches separate. They are two different art forms. Maybe next time we can do a Comedy Sketches stream. Take care, see ya tomorrow!

Comedians were known for their uniqueness back then. Rodney Dangerfield was known as the King of One Liners. After he would deliver his stand up routine, when he sat to chat with Johnny, he would just continue his jokes. He was a classic American comedian and one of the best. Other great classic comedians to check out: Buddy Hackett - Dirty but kept his story jokes clean for Johnny Carsons Show & other TV. Don Rickles - King of Insults Jonathan Winters - King of Improvisational Comedy Groucho Marx - King of Ad Lib. Arguably the Sharpest Comedic Wit of them all. Foster Brooks - The Lovable Drunk. Be sure to check out his roast on Don Rickles (From the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast Show).

YOu guys are so fun to watch.. I dunno if it was this video, or the one before ( you all watching Sam Kinnesen screaming) But you all said you all high school sweet hearts.. I can tell.. You all just blend together, like on the same wave length. And also , yes, the 80s rocked. I was a teenager through the 80's. The absolute best time of my life. And believe me, America today is nothing like it was back then. You were free to talk, and express how you felt, and if some group tried to cancel you, ... well , no one cancelled you. The crap didnt exist. People like Rodney Dangerfield.. Andrew Dice Clay, Gilbert Gottfried.. geez watch some of his roasts he does on people. Don Rickles .. or old TV shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Whats Happening, Good Times..

Rodney was without a doubt one of the best comedians and that was without even saying his usual No Respect bit that was his trademark. How many comics today are even close to the kind of rapid fire one liners. Rodney was very well respected and more than a few stand up comics got their start by working in his club Dangerfield's.
