This song is a perfect reason way I recommend people react to more than just live performance footage. The deep cuts are full of awesome treasures like this one. An interesting song to react to that shows a completely different sound is their song “Mustapha”. It brings together some of the sounds Freddie grew up hearing in Zanzibar.

In my mind the album 'News of the World' was where Queen decided to completely change their sound and pretty much express their versatlity to the global world. I find many of the songs on here were directly written towards an American audience, Spread your Wings and this song especially... Love your reactions as the song grew. What a track, eh! This could have been the finale but was the penultimate track to the album finale. The closing track could not be any more different to 'Its Late, it is called My Meloncholy Blues and it is beautiful...

He had such a versatile falsetto, and it was all improv'd melody that he was making up on the spot, with the band supporting him and even kinda improvising on their own as well. Brian once said they could just be called 'Anthems R Us' or something like that. He was particularly good at coming up with catchy mantras ('The Show Must Go On', for instance, or 'We Will Rock You'). This song was the first one they recorded for its parent album and it led them to switch to a more stripped-down sound than the layered 'Bohemian Rhapsody' sort of thing they'd been doing earlier on. It paid off as they got to explore both sides and get to a broader audience.

"It's Late" is a song detailing an ending love affair written by Brian. The song was released as a single in North America, Japan, and New Zealand in 1978, albeit in heavily edited form, and peaked at #74 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #66 on the Cash Box Top 100. The song was Brian's idea of treating a song as a three-act theatrical play, and the verses are called "acts" in the lyrics sheet. It makes use of the tapping technique a few months before Eddie Van Halen's use of the tapping technique on the Van Halen album. Brian told Guitar Player Magazine that his use of the tapping technique was inspired by Texas guitarist Rocky Athas, after seeing one of his performances at Mother Blues, a Dallas club.

Mrs. C., the reaction to "Frank" the robot was priceless... it comes off the cover art of the NEWS OF THE WORLD album cover and there are numerous stories about the creation of this icon... as a matter of fact, the recent Q+AL Rhapsody Tour that Queen just completed their U.S. journey was based on the antics of "Frank" by opening the concerts with "Machines, Back to Humans", a wonderfully constructed piece of visual 'machination' that pays tribute to John Lennon in the video, quite remarkable... and yet was visually stunning in the stage version of their most recent concerts... well done, thanks again... blessings.

It is obscure but very wonderful! One of my absolute fav's but they have so many. Another great one to try would be "Spread Your Wings" or "You and I". Both are written by John, the bass player and a different feel and style of Queen than you are used to. Thanks for the reactions! Might want to try out "March of the Black Queen' at some point. You will not be disappointed, early Queen was heavier than later Queen.

I knew you'd like this one. If you're going to react to Christmas songs, Queen has 2. The first is called Thank God it's Christmas, which was released in 1984. The second is called A Winter's Tale. It was one of the last songs that Freddie recorded. He wrote it while looking out the window at his lakefront property while he was convalescing in Switzerland. It's a beautiful song that really captures the Mercury May aesthetic. Mercury sings with his beautiful voice while May answers on guitar. It gets me every time. There is also a video of Freddie Mercury singing White Christmas at a concert in 1977, but the sound quality is poor and it sounds unrehearsed.

You should react to Queen "Face It Alone". Freddie was diagnosed with HIV in '87, bits of this song were recorded in '88 but wasn't finished and was shelved. It was rediscovered in 2022, pieced into a song and was released. Therefore, we had a new Queen song, 31 years after his passing, with Freddie doing vocals. Its very emotional.😭 Again, I would love your reaction to Queen "Ogre Battle" ,1975 hammersmith odeon. It has great bass and guitar 🔥 I think you would really like it. (It's Trudy, my name is misspelled up top 🥴)

I'm ashamed to admit that even though I must have heard it, I didn't remember this song! It feels like heresy, but thank you for reacting to the lyric video, because now I've heard all the words, without being distracted by the guys' antics on stage! I've googled and found a live version (apparently they only performed it in two tours) so I've bookmarked that to have a look at tomorrow...

@@CoachCastTV Sadly, the only Live version I found (other than poor quality audio recordings with a photo to look at) is clearly filmed from the audience, and the quality is so poor, I couldn't watch because of the flashing stage lights... and I could hardly hear Freddie's voice anyway. ☹

It sounds a bit rough and unpolished by Queen standards but their music at that time was a reaction to the punks to prove the "old" bands could still do some raw rock & roll.
