As a Rocker, is there a band that I'm unlikely to have heard of? Or is there a song that's under the radar from a big band??
You're not into rock? - no problem give me a group from Hip/Hop, RnB, Rap , pop etc.
I love learning about new bands and different types of music. I Cant wait to hear from you all.

Do the whole original album "Days of Future Paste" from 1969 -- beginning to end, every track orchestrated. Justin's (lead singer of Moody Blues) other solo album that does classical is called "Classical Blue" -- fantastic album.

Thanks for the great reaction! I fully agree: orchestras make rock music sound so much more powerful. Back in the day, many bands (particularly prog bands) used the mellotron to simulate an orchestra. But there's nothing like the real thing. Indeed, many of these bands are resurfacing lately, replaying their old hits backed by a full orchestra. One you may want to check out is Procol Harum's song “A Whiter Shade of Pale, live in Denmark 2006”. Exquisite song from the 60s, gorgeous orchestral arrangements + the original singer in top shape. A powerhouse of a song.💥

New subscribers, seniors in our mid 70s who followed this band religiously in the 60s - 80s, and thank you for the wonderful reaction to one of their iconic performances. We'd like to introduce you to a band we consider to be the best symphonic metal band in the world, NIGHTWISH. They are a Finnish band formed in 1996 with a classically trained female lead singer, Floor Jansen. Their compositions have a heavy symphonic influence and they are best viewed in their live performances with production quality off the charts. Most of us members of their Nightwish Army agree the best performance as an introduction is GHOST LOVE SCORE from their 2013 Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany with 82,000+ fans. We've noted the link to this performance below and hope we will see your reaction to it soon. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKmByZdxabK6nbA.html

Denny Lane and Clint left after the 1st album. Justin Heyward on guitar andJohn Lodge on bass replaced them. Mike Pinder on keys used a melatron to mimic the orchestral sounds, but they let Pinder go and need a full orchestra to take his place. Go down this rabbit hole. Day of Future Past through 7th Soujourn and nothing but great music.

Symphonic rock is a good description for the Moody Blues. I don't think progressive rock really fits since their music has none of the complexity associated with prog rock. In fact that is kind of the pleasure of it, its simplicity and beauty. The members of the band that you listed only released a few singles before Justin Hayward and John Lodge replaced the guitarist and bass player respectively. You don't get the Moody Blues sound until that change occurs. So it is not surprising if the name suggests a different sound. It is not as rare as one might think for a band to start out as one kind of thing and wind up as something very different. Deep Purple (whose name suggests they may have been thinking of the Moody Blues) started out as a kind of psychedelic band with flamenco piano fills, dabbled in classical music before becoming a hard rock (and later heavy metal) band.
