Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. @@brucebremer4918 Angelina is not fluent in Japanese - she understands some and can speak some but still needs translation from her uncle or mother who was raised in Japan.

She is a "monster talent", and this was her beast-mode! -Now; -watch and react to the other 160 (or so...) songs and covers from Angelina! -YOU will fall in love with her, and she hits "all the check's" in a song unusually often as you will discover... But be careful; my wife (almost) left me because I got addicted to her, and could not stop watching her on youtube :) -And I am not that into music, but her(?) -she just draw you in, and puts a spell on you!!

I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. Well perhaps this is what she does when she does play and we get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! Angelina Jordan was 9 years old when this song was recorded. It was a tribute to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins who was quite a character. Most of the times he performed the song rising from a coffin in a voodoo style. Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong. Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. Album won't be out until next year according to Sara, her Mother. She left a comment from another reactor, that it was mentioned in an interview of that. I believe it will be around Christmas 2023, it's supposed to be all Originals and right before her 18th birthday on 10th of January, prepping to go Main Stream. I also an Album will drop shortly after her 18th with 1 new Original, but of Covers to project her to the World. My opinion Only, one can dream and hope, God Bless!

Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 16 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She is working on a new album of original music which will be coming out next year. The video you just watched is from her trip back to Norway which was about a week ago. At six she travels to the Middle East where her legend begins as to why she does not ware shoes. At six she states she wants to be a Superstar and sing for the whole world. At seven she auditions for Norway’s Got Talent and wins Norway’s Got Talent at eight. At eight she sings at the Nobel Peace Prize. At nine she publishes a book becoming the youngest published author in Norwegian history. At eight she tour’s the world. It usually only takes one song to realize you are witnessing something special, but it will become even more apparent what a rare artist this is as you hear more of her stuff. Even for us fans that have been following her for years, she still somehow manages to surprises us with each new thing she does. For anyone new to Angelina, here is a little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul....... Angelina Jordan - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 170 songs and over 70 artists. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. Yes, this has become a classic on its own. Here, Angelina, at 9 yrs 2 mos old, has captured the essence of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 in her arrangement. In the intro you can see her writing out and passing last-minute changes to the arrangement to a member of the band. They may have gone in that day and been taken aback by playing for a nine-year-old, but by the end of the day they were calling her, "The Boss." After auditioning for Norway's Got Talent at seven and winning it at eight, she was literally a professional by age 9! Now, at sixteen, she has written 5 songs, sung two written for her, and covered about 170 other songs of 75 different artists. She is signed to Republic Records. She is the real deal.

I'm 64 now, and I remember listening to my parents generation's music from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. The jazz greats, the big band era, popular singers, broadway performers, crooners. Growing up as a child in the 60s and as a teenager in the 70s, and the explosion in popular music that took place during that time. All of the legendary greats at the height of their powers, all the way through to today. Angelina is the best of them all, imho, based on her vocal versatility. She can sing any genre of popular music you want. She's covered songs going all the way back to 1935, and covered the first single off of Adele's newest album, "30". She's even sung on orchestral music designed with her singing in mind, and an EDM song by the Norwegian duo, TRXD. She is now 16, approximately 6' plus tall, and frankly, a stunningly beautiful young lady rapidly becoming one of the greats. You don't have to take my word for it. At 12, she was asked by Quincy Jones to sing at his 85th birthday bash at the O2 arena in London. He stated that she was the greatest talent he had seen since Michael Jackson. All of the movers and shakers in the music industry know who she is, and the enormity of her talent as a prodigy. Even with all that, one of the biggest reasons we as fans truly love this young lady is that she is an even better person! Genuinely one of the most humble of people, kind, caring, fun, compassionate. Upon winning "Norway's Got Talent" at the age of 8, she gave the prize money to children's charities. She is also the youngest published author in the history of Norway, at 9. Her book, "Between Two Hearts" documents the encounter she had with a young girl while traveling in the middle east with her family. Angelina was 6 years old, and she believes that the little girl she met was about the same age, maybe 7, at most. The girl was an orphan along with her siblings, and she was weighing people in order to try to help support them. Angelina, fluent in Norwegian, English and Farsi (her grandmother is Iranian), struck up a conversation with her, paying her to step on her scale a few times. She noticed that the girl was barefoot, and her feet had scars on them. Angelina took off her shoes, and gave them to this young girl. @@anitaherbert1037 In Mount Everest, what you heard was her falsetto. The whistle register is higher than falsetto. It starts in the 6th octave and extends to the 7th. Angelina's range tops out in the upper 5th octave. The squeal is IPASOY is just what you called it : a squeal. It's not a whistle note, but is produced by an inhale of the breath.

I can explain this very simply. I’m in my seventies, and Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard-and I’ve listened to music all my life. What you should do is watch Angelina now, at 16, to hear how amazing she is. Then go back and watch many of her younger performances. Todays song, I Put a Spell on You, was great, but there are dozens more in many different genres where she will blow you away with her originality and her incredible voice.
