Hey, brother! I was one of those in the crowd only a few feet from front row, at least for a short while when Triumph and Quiet Riot were playing. Once Motley Crew took the stage and the crowd got rowdy, we were pushed back to the tower. I agree, this by far has been the best show ever, even after going to hundreds of concerts since then. Too bad VH had to end on a bad note.

"Demonizer" from their 2005 album 'Angel of Retribution' is one of my favorite Judas Priest songs. Rob Halford left 2 years after their Legendary 1990 album 'Painkiller' came out. He rejoined Priest in 2003 and the rest is history as that was the start of another amazing era for the band. 'Angel of Retribution' is a worthy follow-up to 'Painkiller' and 'Painkiller' was already a landmark album.

Funny you mentioned multiple songs Aileen. This song was composed by fusing two earlier songs. The main part of the song, including the riffs, came from "Whisky Woman," which was written in 1972 while original Priest singer Al Atkins was still in the band. The softer passage, building up tension for the climaxing ending of the song, came from a song singer Rob Halford had written called "Red Light Lady." K.K. Downing, Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford and Al Atkins are all credited for writing the song. The song's lyrics have been debated by Priest fans. The song seems to focus on a woman who is past her prime, which leads her to drown her sorrows in alcohol when she can't find a man anymore. At first glance, she might seem like the "Victim of Changes," but later in the song, the "I" of the lyrics (a man speaking to the woman) reveals a certain affection for her, and a dissatisfaction because he's lost her and he can't have her back, making him the victim. This has never been cleared up.

Probably one of the all-time classic Judas Priest songs. One the best live verisons. This day was on Sunday, May 29 (Heavy Metal Day). And the bands that played were: Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen. The reprise festival ran for three days[...] In late May, its first day weather was slightly cooler at 35 °C, but air quality conditions in the region were the worst in four years. The total attendance was reported at 670,000 and the festival still lost $12 million; as Van Halen was reportedly paid $1.5 million dollars to perform. There were two reported deaths

"Dreamer, Deceiver/Deceiver" is the song(s) you must hear next...but please do the studio version. Ideally, there is a good lyric video out there with the studio version as the music. In any case, these songs ffg o together, and they will give you a better idea of vocalist Rob Halford's true range and versatility. God bless!!

A superb yet underrated live song of theirs is Exciter from the Unleashed in the East EP. There's no video for it, just the track but no other version is nearly as epic as that one. Enjoy!

Great reaction! Some other great songs include Beyond the Realms of Death, Blood Red Skies, Hell Bent for Leather, Screaming for Vengeance, and Freewheel Burning. They have a lot of great songs though. Beyond the Realms of Death has one of my favorite guitar solos and a great tone to the guitars, but it's best to listen to the studio version of that song.

I remember back in 76' I was hanging at a buddy's house and a mutual friend came over and said, "I just picked this album up!". It was 'Sad Wings of Destiny' - my introduction to Judas Priest. Been a fan since. 'Dreamer/Deciever' from the same album is great: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iaqg05N_Xbuce9I.html

Now that you have heard the live version, you need to hear the studio original at some point for the pristine sound and great mix, it is one of the ultimate headphones songs. For more live Fury try Sinner from either Unleashed in the East or the video from Atlanta 1983, both are immense. They have a ton of songs you need to hear, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

One thing I'm proud of these times was so many people together just enjoying their favourite bands (or discovering some others we just knew the name, not their sound) and not even a thought about "mUh SaFeTy".. The world was so much cool andcsafe back then (we were tougher, too)

Saw them in a small club in their early days. They had enough equipment for a stadium venue. You didn’t hear the music, you felt it. Best live band I’ve seen, and I’ve seen hundreds.

I was at that concert, along with about 400,000 other people. US Festival 83 in San Bernardino. Besides Priest, the lineup that day included Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Triumph, Ozzy, Scorpions, and Van Halen who headlined the show. Tickets were $20 and I still have my ticket stub from the day. Thinking back on it, if Randy Rhoades had not died the year before fans would have been able to hear him and Eddie Van Halen on the same day. That would have been amazing. Rest in Paradise Randy and Eddie.

It's good to drink from the fountain, revisit the legends, remember where we came from... that same year I watched for the first and only time in my life the show of another legend, Van Halen! Still in 1983 I was able to watch the Kiss show playing for the first time in my country in a stadium packed with 40 thousand people. These are wonderful memories that we were able to witness at the birth of this incredible musical style that is Heavy Metal!
