On that picture from your view on the top left is Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, with his brother Chris Rupp, baritone, on the right. He ususally wears a hat. The two of them are the founders of Home Free. Chris left the band in 2016 which is when Adam Chance, or Chance as he's reffered to, joined. It can be easy to confuse them since Chance too often wears a hat. The difference there is that Chance never wears a cowboy hat, while Chris often did. At the bottom we have Rob Lundquist, lead tenor and teddybeard, to the left, Tim Foust, bass, in the middle, and Austin Brown, high tenor, on the right. You'll get there.

The guy you didn't recognize is Chris Rupp, Adam's brother. The two started Home Free back in 2000. Chris left in 2016 to go on to do solo work. He was replaced by Adam Chance. The first video Chance did with the group is their cover of Try Everything, which is amazing, and one of their favorites. They still do it in concert all the time. Their latest release (yesterday) of Stand by Me is one of their best.

The back row are the Rupp brothers, Adam and Chris. Chris was a founding member of the group but left in 2016 and Adam Chance joined. Also, did you know that the name Home Free came from one of the original member's grandfather's boat name? The boat was the Home Free and they adopted that as the group name.

The groups founder Chris Rupp left the group in May of 2016 to pursue a solo career, and Chance joined them immediately and the 1st video he shot with Home Free is their take of "Try Everything" from the movie Zootopia. This is one of their erliest videos and is from 2014 I believe.

Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original. More than 4 years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good beatboxing/vocal percussion and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode. Chance wasn't here yet. Here it is Chris Rupp, Adam's brother who co-founded Home Free. In 2016 he left the group for other projects such as a solo album (piano) and the group 7th Ave with their sister Tristin. He is currently working on Cypress Fyre. He was replaced by Chance. Personally, I thought Avi fit better with Home Free than with PTX. But that's my opinion 😊

As others have said - the "new" one in this video was one of the original founders - Chris Rupp, Adam's (the beatboxer) brother. He left in mid-2016 to go solo, and Adam Chance came in, so videos BEFORE about June 2016 have Chris, those after have Chance. and, as you have discovered, there is no single (or even just two) lead singer. Adam is the only one who basically refuses to do a solo lead, except for a few precious measures here and there. It doesn't matter where you go in their playlist - the particular song may not be your style, but the music is always top notch. They have re-recorded this and the other songs they performed on the Sing Off and will be releasing an album in mid-Nov. Three of thee songs have been released as videos - Pretty Woman, Life is a Highway, and Stand by Me. Keep on enjoying this rabbit hole.

He has his own KZread channel with loads of good music and also the 5 or 6 part history of Home Free. Very interesting history. He also has the Christmas song What Child is This featuring Home Free where all 6 of them sing together on his channel. Really beautiful 6 part harmony.

Although…… Johnny Cash’s was a cover too. It was originally done by his sister in law Anita Carter. Titled, Loves Ring of Fire and written by his 2nd wife June Carter and Merle Kilgore. This was the song that won them (Home Free) the Sing Off. Love this with Avi And Love your reactions!!!

The last note that Tim sings is sooooo good!!

You were right about which one was Avi Kaplan. He was the base Profundo from Pentatonics. He has left that group for his own reasons. If you would like to see more of his works I recommend Pentatonics - Halleluiah. The members of home free all do a lot of individual works as well as with the group. Try Austin Brown - When a man loves a woman. and Tim Foust - will you still love me tomorrow. Tim also did a collab with Peter Hollens - Misty Mountains and in the end of it Tim hits a low note that can only be described as sub-harmonic. If you have not explored these acapella groups including Voiceplay, Pentatonics, and Home Free very much you could literally have reaction videos for years to just their works alone. It is really hard to decide which one of the groups is the best.

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

Home Free is releasing a new version of this song with the new album November 17th. I prefer their Sing Off performance to this video, so I’m really looking forward to the new one. They’ve been performing Ring of Fire in concert since they won The Sing Off in 2013. It was their encore song on this last tour. They really play up with the audience for that last note. There is a pause at the end of the song so Tim can run it down. Then with a lot of coaxing from the audience and a deeeeeeeep breath from Tim, he goes subwoofer. And is joined by the guys to close it out. Makes the end of the concert very fun.

Am really enjoying your reactions to Home Free. To help in identifying the members may I suggest another of their collaborations? "Children Go Where I Send Thee" with the late legendary Kenny Rodgers shows close-ups of every member and you also hear their individual voices. The line-up includes co-founder Chris Rupp before he left and was replaced by Chance. I also recommend listening to the very end of the video to hear how the collaboration came about.

We are loving them so far!

This is an older video. They made it after they won the fourth season of The Sing-Off an acapella competition show.. They created this version of Ring of Fire for the competition. Tim sings even a lower note there than he did in this video. Tim can sing five octaves. This means he can sing tenor, baritone, and bass. He often blows up speakers during live performances. People at live performances claim they can feel his bass vibrate through them even in the back seats The guy in the cowboy hat is Chris Rupp, Adam Rupp's older brother. Adam is the best boxer. Chris and Adam with Adam's best friend Matt Atwood originally founded the group. Matt and Adam were teenagers. Matt Atwood retired due to family responsibilities and Austin Brown took his place. A baby faced Austin sings the high notes in this song. Chris resigned from the group several years after this video.. Adam Chance took his place. Chance,'s story of how he started singing acapella is interesting but too long to tell here. Chance, of course, is not in this video. Avi Kaplan met Home Free on The Sing-Off when Pentatonix was the guest performers for the fourth season finale. Pentatonix had won The Sing-Off on the previous season, season three. Avi is now a solo performer and won several Grsmmies with and without Pentatonix.

Not exactly correct. Avi knew Tim prior to Homefree being in the Sing Off. The 2 basses were friends.

Haha you totally missed Tim’s amazing low note at the end. Chance wasn’t with the group at that time. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013. This was made in 2014 I think with Avi Kaplan (the bass from Pentatonix and yes, he was wearing the knit hat). Chris (cowboy hat) was with the band then. In 2016 Chris left the group and Chance joined. Only change since then. Chris Rupp and Adam Rupp (Beatboxer) are brothers and they founded Home Free. Chris left to go solo. Avi has a beautiful voice and he went solo also. Everyone else with Home Free has been together since 2013. They do another Johnny Cash song called Folsom Prison Blue (done during Covid). It’s great. 🤩😄

Both guys usually wear hats in the videos. Chance in the only change since Austin joined the group. Austin was onboard before they won The Sing Off in 2013. Unfortunately for reactors, Rob is the only one that always looks the same.

First of all, the Johnny Cash version of "Ring" is actually a cover. The song was written by his wife and first released by his sister-in-law. Second, the first two bass drops were Kaplan. The final drop was Foust. Finally, HF changes every song they cover so they can get PAID.

The man originally wearing the black cowboy hat is Chris Rupp (the beatboxer's brother). They started the band together in 2001. When Chris decided to go solo (2016?) is when Adam Chance joined and took his place. Chris started "Cyprus Fyre" and also has his own channel. He has a couple of duets with Tim ("Long Black Train"). As Johnny Cash fans you'd also like their rendition of "Folsom Prison Blues".

You're watching videos that could be anywhere from now to 10 years old. So of course they are going to look different. I wouldn't say they change their looks often. It's more like a progression over time. Except maybe when Tim cut his hair. He started getting gray and doesn't think long hair and gray hair go together. Lol! If you haven't been following them though, you wouldn't know that. I'm sure the Home Fries will fill you in on the rest.

Directly after filming this video Home Free started the video for Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, an original written by Tim Foust. Because he was there still hanging out with his buddies, Avi decided to pop in for a quick cameo. If you do a reaction to that one, Avi walks through while they're in the bar. The video for Full of Cheer, another one by Tim, is a sequel to that one, story wise, except with Austin as the central figure instead of Tim. The guy in the cowboy hat, here, is Chris Rupp, Adam's brother and group co-founder. He left the group May 2016 and has since sung solo and with other groups. First was 7th Ave with their sister Tristin. Then Cypress Fyre. 7th Ave covered Uptown Funk and did a mashup called I Kissed a Girl in the House of the Rising Sun. Chris did a video for a song called Drinkin' With Me, joined by Adam Bastien from 7th Ave. He did a live version, billed as Chris Rupp & Matt Atwood. Matt was an original member of Home Free

The Rupp brothers were two of the founders of the band (Avi Kaplan the guest bass singer with the knit cap on used to be with another a capella group (Pentatonix) God...now even IM confoosed lol.. PTX did a cover of 'you're a mean one, Mr. grinch' I think voiceplay also did a cover of it. I've seen reactors do them 1 after the other that's always interesting. You get the pentaholics and the other fans all coming to one video.. 🙂🙂

This is a great video but I still prefer the version our HF fellas sang for their third performance on the 4th season of The Sing Off. It just showcases their strengths even better than this one--in my humble opinion. ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ (This one does indeed feature Avi Kaplan--another exceptional bass--who has been mentored in bass excellence by Home Free's Tim Foust (as has VoicePlay's Geoff Castellucci)). #homefree
