Very nice reaction👍 This song and others from Einar Selvik (vocalist and songwriter) and Wardruna are in the Vikings series 😊 It’s sung in Norwegian, but the last part In acapella is in Old Norse “Helvegen” (the path/road to Hel In Norse mythology, Hel is an underground realm of the dead where it was believed that most people ended up when they died. In Norse cosmology, north is the direction towards cold and death. It is therefore understandable that Hel is cold and intractable, and that the road there leads "north and down". Hel is also the name of the ruler of the underworld. She is motherly and terrifying, and her skin is part blue-black like that of a corpse and part human-colored. She is very greedy and does not easily give up the dead who end up with her.

Very good song in a Viking climate :). Beautiful start by Aurora and then great transition to more powerful sounds. The rest of the song is all about great harmonies between Aurora and Wardruna singer. Aurora is great Artist by herself. Recommend to check her :) EDIT: I see you reacted 2 hours ago to one of the Aurora songs - will check it now :)

Rewatch with CC on to get the lyrics in English. The song hits even harder when you know what they're saying. Essentially, it is about the journey of the soul after the death of the body, and how the Viking tradition was for people to sit and sing for the dying person, for days if necessary. "Who shall sing me, into deathsleep sling me" It speaks of how the dying person can hear this song during their journey and how the song ceases as they cross the bridge of Gjöll and finally enter the realm of the dead. "I shall follow you over the Bridge of Gjöll with my song". A beautiful tradition.
