Look up I Am Not Here if you haven't heard it

I think it's super interesting how different people can perceive music and especially rhythm in this one. As a drummer I heard the simple 4/4 beat with the back beat on 2 and 4 (or just on 3, however you wanna count it) and immediately thought "oh, it's a polyrhythm" and started to count out that rhythm (3 against 4 btw). But you as a guitarist mainly listened to the guitar riff and perceived the snare hits as syncopated, which is just as amazing. I just love the idea that music can sound vastly different to a lot of people and can be felt so differently

To put it simply the guitars are 3/4 and the drums are 4/4 kinda like Kashmir from Led Zeppelin

@@daokayestguitaristunder2061 It's weird for me, because I also hear the riff and kick drum pattern as a faster 4/4 on top of a slower 4/4 with the cymbals and snare hits. But I do hear the 3/4, it just sounds more like a 4/4 riff to me.

Literally sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Chase to hit that first chorus. This song is so satisfying, it looked like Chase tried to hug himself when it hit too, I can relate to those feels. And YES please react to Head Mounted Sideways!

As someone who was at their EP release over a decade ago, it makes me happy they still make awesome music.

Had the privilege of sharing the stage with them at Bloodstock in 2018 :) absolutely incredible band.

I’ve never heard of this song or band, but I have had this nightmare before as a kid. Scariest dream I ever had. My house empty, old, with only a floating cloaked spirit thing staring at me when I got to the bottom of the stairs.

When Chase says “Git In” you know you’re listening to one of the best songs ever made lmao

I am SO excited for this! VOLA blew me away with their album Inmazes, I've been such a huge fan since.

You could do anything next and be satisfied, but my personal favorites are Stray the Skies, Starburn, Inmazes, Smart friend, and Whaler. VOLA are incredible and it's criminal that they aren't a household name by now. But they're in my god damned household and I suppose that's what matters

I had the pleasure of seeing VOLA live a couple of years ago when they were opening for Katatonia in Stockholm. They just released a new song called 24 Light Years! It's a bit different from this one, but it still sounds like Vola and it's absolutely beautiful.

I’m sure you’ve heard it by now but I love ‘24 Light Years’, definitely worth checking out. I happened upon VOLA a couple of months ago and these songs have just been on repeat since.

Reminded me quite a lot of SPIRITBOX especially the beginning and in the rhythmic elements.

Literally everything they've done is great, they have a great blend of heavier and more melodic ones in their catalogue. Few years back me and my mates drove for 6 hours to go see them play for half hour and it was absolutely worth it.

Just came back to watch this reaction again already haha. It's just really awesome to watch you react to what is currently one of my favorite songs of the year. It's really difficult to not play this song multiple times per day, but then again I have been listening to Inmazes for 5 years and those songs still have not gotten old for me. Really hope you get a chance to react to more VOLA in the near future. Or even if you don't react, at least get to check out their catalogue for your own listening pleasure!

Vola is one of those bands that don’t miss with their choruses. Worth checking out their 2016 album, first two songs on there are my personal favorite in terms of a catchy chorus.

They dropped a new single called "24 light years". This is shaping up to be their best album this far. Has the heavy themes of "Inmazes" but with the advanced melody of "Applause of A Distant Crowd". And for anyone who wants VOLA song recommendations without listening to all the albums and LP's: Avalanche, Black Box, Owles, Starburn, A Stare Without Eyes, Whaler, We Are Thin Air, and anything from the the new album they've put out this far.

There is Sleep Token, and there is Vola. That's all there is.

Yes! Inmazes is a phenomenal track. Definitely agree that people should get acclimated to VOLA first before jumping into that track though. If they listen to Inmazes as one of their first couple of tracks it could really turn them off. Unfortunately (not for me personally) it requires a bit of patience and understanding of the band.

First time hearing this band for me too! Yup another one to add to my rotation! Mildly surprised I liked it this much as I'm not a huge fan of Sleep Token.

I know the tendency for many viewers of reaction channels is to only watch for the songs/artists they already know....this video is the perfect example of why that's the wrong way to do it. I'd never heard of VOLA before and I am now *obsessed* with this song! After way more listens in 24 hours than any song should be, the only thing I can find wrong with it is that it ends!
