I love helloween, one of my favourite bands when i was a teenager, their guitarist Kai Hansen was my guitar hero. Eventually when i grew up i got to meet him twice after a show with his other bands. Both times he was drunk. He likes to party

Helloween have a song named "Halloween" ... Hearing this brought so many memories, I was 17 then, and in this period we had bands I'll never forget like Warlock, King Diamond, Iron Maiden But Helloween are from Germany and they always had "hard rock" bands that had the ability to put their songs in your head forever (Scorpions, Accept, Dokken then Runnig Wild, Metalium, Messenger). So many incredible songs : Rise or fall, Eagle fly free, Halloween, Kepper of the seven keys, Dr Stein, Twilight of the gods, March of time .... The German band I like best after Helloween is Running Wild, often inspired by pirate tales

Helloween, the band that made me the metal-head that I'm still proud to be today. I haven't regretted a second since then and I still listen to metal today. And after all these years I am firmly convinced that Japan is right up there at the moment when it comes to keeping this kind of music alive. My great love Babaymetal, as well as Nemophila and Lovebites as examples, are the proof. Stay healthy and stay metal. Love from germany.

Michael Kiske is one of my favorite metal vocalists. It amazes me that he's in his mid 50s now and still sounds close to the same as he did back then.

you should react to their song titled "halloween" but the 13 minute version of it, because it sounds better than the edited version. the music video is 8 minutes shorter than the original soundtrack so yeah you should listen to the full version, since its october and its halloween lol

Helloween are great metal composers. One of the best classic heavy metal bands.

You need to go into the Helloween rabbit hole now! They have so many fantastic songs with both vocalists. This one was the legendary Michael Kiske, he was their vocalist during the first albums. Then Andi Deris came in and saved the band with a great second period of albums. Their latest album includes both vocalists and returning guitarist and power metal godfather Kai Hansen back to the fold. You have only scratched the pumpkin's surface!

Helloween is THE standard of German power metal. Right up there with Blind Guardian. The crazy thing is now they play as all members of the band past and present together. Both singers, etc…the old drummer passed away so the newer drummer plays the originals drum set. Absolutely amazing band. It’s an extreme shame they’re not more well known in the United States unless they’re really into 80s metal.

Helloween are my second favorite metal band after Iron Maiden, love this song and album. They need to check out Keeper of the Seven Keys next.

What you just listened to is Michael Kiske. One of the best. I Want Out is off Keeper of Seven Keys Pt2. Basically, you two should listen to Keepers 1 and 2. Great albums. Kiske left and has done some solo work along with other projects. Check out "Silence" from Kiske/Somerville. A side project with Amanda Somerville who is a great singer as well. Now to date myself. My very first concert was Helloween / Armored Saint / Grim Reaper. 1987. You should also check Grim Reaper and check Armored Saint. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Armored Saint and Grim Reaper. Holy crap, that had to been a helluva a show. I saw Helloween when they toured with Exodus and Anthrax and that show was a banger. I know everyone says that Helloween were the creators of power metal, but I still think Accept was there ahead of them. Udo was/is a great singer and Accept's Restless & Wild album is just amazing.

Ah, the 80s... I could fill the entire comments section right now...

Helloween were actually signed by Iron Maiden's management in the 80's. The original band was a 4-piece: Kai Hansen (vocals/guitar), Michael Weikath (guitar), Marcus Grosskopf (bass) & Ingo Schwichtenberg (drums)... they recorded an EP in 1984 followed by the 'Walls of Jericho' debut in 1985. In 1987, Helloween broke big internationally by adding lead singer Michael Kiske... the albums 'Keeper of the seven keys' Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 (in 1988) made them huge in heavy metal. But Kai Hansen was clearly not happy w/ the band and left in 1990... guitarist Roland Grapow joined. However, the next 2 albums failed after Helloween tried to steer away from the 'power metal' tag. In 1993, singer Michael Kiske was fired. Drummer Ingo Schwictenberg left the band (he tragically committed suicide in '95) Helloween recruited lead singer Andi Deris and drummer Uli Kusch... a return to heavy metal arrived in the '94 album 'Master of the rings'... 'The time of the oath' in '96... and 'Better than raw' in '98. A covers album 'Metal jukebox' in '99 was followed by the 2000 album 'The Dark Ride'. Unfortunately, guitarist Michael Weikath was now frustrated w/ Helloween's music and demanded that the band fire both guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch. Guitarist Sasha Gerstner joined w/ drummer Mark Cross... but an illness forced Cross out of the studio... Motorhead's Mikkey Dee played drums on the 2003 album "Rabbit don't come easy". Accept drummer Stefan Schwarzmann joined for the tour. Drummer Dani Loble joined in 2005. Helloween recorded the sequel double cd 'Keeper of the seven keys: the Legacy'... the band remained stable w/ Deris (vocals), Weikath & Gerstner (guitars), Grosskopf (bass) and Loble (drums) After 2015, Helloween finally announced that 'Pumpkins united' would bring both Kai Hansen (guitar) & Michael Kiske (vocals) with the current Helloween for touring (w/ Deris & Kiske sharing the mic!) New 'Helloween' album features the entire 'Pumpkins united' line-up🎃

A great track. Like Mia the vocals reminded me of something, but for the life of me I cannot remember the track or band - but that's getting old for you! ;) On the subject of the vocals, which were very good, they were also not what I expected - crisp, clean, wholly without rasp, etc.!

Great reaction to one of my favorite bands of my youth. If you want to see them live, look for the Pumpkins United Tour or United Alive DVD videos on youtube. There are some good recommendations in the comments if you like to hear more. 🤘

I walked into a record store in 1988 and saw this cassette single with a cartoon pumpkin with big hair playing guitar, and I saw it was "Savage" from Helloween. I'd heard "Walls of Jericho" and thought it was OK, but I hadn't gone back for more until I saw this thing. I thought, well, if nothing else, it's an awesome look, so I bought it. I think "Save Us" was the B-side. I loved it so much, I bought more, and "I Want Out" was one of the ones that blew me away. I've been a fan ever since.

Helloween pretty much started the power metal craze. There's not a band in the genre that doesn't owe their existence to them.

Mia, your shirt is very appropriate since one of the main-influences to the power-metal was infact Iron maiden. Helloween and Maiden are also one of Lovebites biggest influences! Also: Michael Kiske on vocals wasn't even 20 when he did this! Such a great talent!

Helloween arrived after Iron Maiden & Judas Priest... their sound inspired the 'power metal' genre, currently spearheaded by Dragonforce, Sabaton, Blind Guardian, etc. 'I want out' was written by guitarist Kai Hansen about leaving Helloween... he quit in 1990 and formed the band Gamma Ray. He recently rejoined Helloween and co-wrote & played on the current album.

Welcome to the begging of power metal. Helloween is an awesome band. You should keep exploring them.
