I grew up listening to Billy Joel, but I’d never seen this live performance before. Like you said, a blessing. Thank you! ❤️

It's cool to see the young people appreciating this legend❤❤ He can't play small venues, he sold out Lambeau Field 5 summers ago. And people were bummed they didn't get a ticket.

This was pretty epic. If you're from NY or particularly Long Island like I am, Billy is simply a part of your DNA!! You've just fallen into one of the deepest rabbit holes around.

Great review, glad you enjoyed it. The cool thing is, Billy doesn't have to sing one word, the crowd sings the entire show.

One thing Billy is famous for is after a gig he says, "Thank you, don't take shit from anybody!" Legend!!!

One of Billy's masterpieces. It tells a story, the chord progressions, the tempo changes, everything, Mark Rivera on the sax, who still tours with him, at least as of a few years back, just everything! It's a lot to take in. I think he still is the greatest songwriter at least of the past 50 years. I really do. I have drifted away from him at times, but I always come back. My siblings and I used to perform this one. It's a hard piano piece to play. Like really hard. We used to call it "Brender and Eddie" and that's what people would request. Come on, guys, play "Brender and Eddie." Oh, I loved those days ;) iykyk

And it was 3 songs he didn’t know how to finish. One night he was trying to decide which wine to drink and this came to him. This is just brilliant.

There's so much GREAT Billy Joel. Check out some of his performances from back in the day (he's almost 70 years old here). His Old Grey Whistle Test show is a great place to start. He's also got some really unique and fun videos. For videos I recommend Matter of Trust, Pressure, River of Dreams, We Didn't Start the Fire, Goodnight Saigon and Tell Her About It. It was fun to watch a young person discover Billy Joel. Great reaction. All the best.

Love that you enjoyed it, Rick! He has a very deep catalog of songs you can get lost in. This came off of, in my opinion, his best album, "The Stranger". You could listen to the whole thing and find diverse sounds and be hooked!

One of my very fave Billy Joel charts and there are lots of live performance videos of it littering KZread. I probably wouldn't place this particular performance near the top of my list - there's one, in particular, "live from Long Island", that absolutely kicks ASS!

PLEASE do more! I saw him at the Garden in New York.. at one point I full on ugly cried 🤷🏻‍♀️ New York State Of Mind is on my top 3 of all time.. Goodnight Saigon is heartbreakingly beautiful.. Piano Man is a staple.. Uptown Girl was written for his now ex wife, supermodel Christy Brinkley.. We Didnt Dtart The Fire is a 40+ year history lesson in 6 minutes.. This concert was the last one ever at Shea Stadium before they made it into a parking lot.. Billy is a New Yorker through & through..

Imagine being able to fly to almost any place on earth, put up some flyers and sell out a stadium that can seat 70,000, 90,000, or 150,000 people...that's the level Billy Joel is on. He's the musical historian of his generation - from songs about the Vietnam War, to blue collar workers losing their jobs from changes to fishing or the closing of factories, to waking up and realizing that the average Soviet/Russian person isn't different from the average American, to love, divorce, parenthood, etc...he's the voice of the Baby Boomer generation.

When I was 11, this album on vinyl, “Glass Houses” came out; that was the second Adult level Record, that I ever bought. The first was Paul McCartney and Wings, “Band on the Run.” I recommend exploring that album too!

Glass Houses is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Billy Joel, released on March 12, 1980.[6] It features Joel's first song to peak at No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart, "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me". The album itself topped the Pop Albums chart for six weeks and was ranked No. 4 on Billboard's 1980 year-end album chart.[7] The album is the 41st best selling album of the 1980s, with sales of 7.1 million copies in the U.S. alone. In 1981, Joel won a Grammy Award for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance" for his work on Glass Houses.[8]

Band on the Run is the third studio album by the British-American rock band Paul McCartney and Wings, released in December 1973. It was McCartney's fifth album after leaving the Beatles in April 1970. Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles - "Jet" and "Band on the Run" - such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia, in addition to revitalising McCartney's critical standing. It remains McCartney's most successful album and the most celebrated of his post-Beatles works.
