I've owned Sammies. They can be the best protector and friend for you kids, if raised right. They are hard headed and too smart for their own good. He's probably sleeping on the floor because it's nice and cool. Patience and consistent training will work wonders.

They're definitely a "work with" instead of "Work at" type of dog for sure. I've never had any, but every video I've seen of them it seems to be that way. They have cooling pads for dogs online. Maybe he'd like that.
