Makes me feel I'm right there with you. And what nice is that we all can learn with you the tech aspects of your plane. Take care.😎👍

    It's easy to turn your plane around on those roads. Shut off the engine, get out, walk back to the tail. Pull down on the tail till the nose wheel comes off the ground. Then just spin the plane around in place, holding the nose up.. Presto.🙂

    After commenting on the last video about the tail cam, you're right about how it keeps the horizon somewhat level with the plane pitching & yawing (to an extent) then moves appropriately with your turns. It must've been a long day at work for me that day, making the comment about the last video & me not being in the proper frame of mind for a *CORRECT* comment about the new tail video. My apologies! I think the current setting is spot-on!

  • @mmatt

    Too well, that's how I broke the pilot's side door - I tried to close it with the spring in place still. I've taken the spring off and I don't intend on replacing it. lol I'd guess that they are about 10 inches long and about a half inch diameter.

    When you landed at Tim's the footage from the strutcam makes it look like the left main wheel isn't turning at times. It could totally be an effect of the frame rate, but initially when you land it is visibly apparent that the wheel is turning (eg touchdown), then a few seconds later as you roll out, not so much. It seems like the brakes remove any freewheel when you're aloft. I'd guess you would definitely feel a wheel being locked-up on the grass, but would you feel both locking if your were getting light on your wheels?

    Question for ya, what were your approach speeds at with the zero flaps on this flight and about what were you touching down at? How does this compare to the beaver? (faster obviously with no flaps). I'm just curious how much faster for the zenith compared to the beaver? Tail cam is good, I like this mode. Again, thanks for all your vids - I know they are a lot of work, effort and expense, but they are very much appreciated.

  • @mmatt

    @mmatt

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm currently approaching at around 50 mph on the (wildly inaccurate) airspeed indicator which is still quite fast for this plane. I'm still working my speed down as I get more comfortable with it. The minimum safe approach speed for the Beaver is 40 solo and 45 dual. I suspect I'll be able to do 35 solo and 40 dual in the Zenith once I have more experience.

    Hey Matt,maybe it's just my eyes,but it doesn't look like your ailerons and flaps are trimmed alike.Wondering if this may cost you some speed?

  • @mmatt

    @mmatt

    Жыл бұрын

    The flaps are connected directly to the ailerons; this configuration is called flaperons. The "droop" where the flaps would be is how they add washout to the wing without having to twist the wing itself.
