FIRST TIME LISTENING TO Radiohead- Fake Plastic Trees

This song is a reflection on how fake and plastic society can be. My favorite line; " He used to do surgery, for girls in the 80s, but gravity always wins"

Well, listen to all the lyrics on Cure's Wish.."We Used to be so close together, how did we get so far apart?".. song "Apart".. "I thought this love would last forever.." Still love this song as well, and the mentioned lyric is gold.

I play this song on my guitar at home often. And when I sing those lines I always feel like I am singing those to my wife. I mean she loves me but...you know...time changes things. I don't know why i shared that.

Every lyrics in Fake Plastic Trees hit the reality so much, and the voice of him...like I wanna cry for it.
sad and brilliant at the same time.
One of the all time great bands! Check out Paranoid Android next.

Grand groupe. Belle réaction. Saw them live 15 years ago, truly amazing.
Radiohead is a great Rabbithole to get lost in... especially6 if you listen to their earlier stuff and than the later stuff... Both amazing stuff but so very different

This was from 1995, and was their last melody-driven album. Their next album, "OK Computer" in 1997 was more experimental rhythms and is considered to have killed off the musical trend known as "Britpop" overnight, and permanently changed the direction of rock. It's fair to say that bands like Muse and Coldplay have borrowed heavily from their sound.
Please do more Radiohead. I love them love them love them
This song stirs my soul.
Beautiful song! Always loved this piece. Should try out Street Spirit (Fade Out) - last song from the same album as this. The video is superb. Bit more of a build-up than this song. Other notable songs to check out from Radiohead: Karma Police, Paranoid Android, Lucky, Idioteque, Everything In It's Right Place, Reckoner. That will get you started...
One of the last times music was something special before it became just an industry.... I might just have been young, but I miss these songs.
Who the hell listens to this song for the first time and doesn't cry?

Fun Fact: at 4:28 of THIS video you can briefly see a young Norman Reedus (yes THAT Norman Reedus) pushing and playing with a shopping cart. He was a model at the time and this is obviously well before he became famous.
These guys are sick deep
That’s one serious water bottle 😀
You are going on my musical journey. Black Sabbath - Rush - Radiohead
Thom Yorke has a very distinctive voice
Keep an eye out for Darryl Dixon from the Walking Dead (he is one of the shoppers)
Radio Head songs have such a deeper undertone to them, close ur eyes, picture the lyrics, play his story in ur mind... Try Nirvana unplugged in New York
You need to hear Radiohead, "I Promise". it will break your heart. Also "House OF Cards" and "No Surprises".
OHHH MANNN.. gotta check out more RHead: Paranoid Android.. Lotus Flower.. Karma Police.. Let Down .. Reckoner.. Weird Fished..
more radiohead
Honest question/answer? How many hours do you put into making your hair look like you don't care how your hair looks? Pretty sure this song is about YOU.
Great song. First song that ever turned my head to Radiohead. But it's still shallow. Check out 'Pyramid Song' and see if you can follow the time signature.
Norman reedus from the walking dead is in this video...cool

Please do "Subterranean Homesick Alien" by this fabulous band.
#ScribeCash you should check out "Paranoid Android", "Exit Music For A Film", "Videotape", and I'd highly recommend "Street Spirit (fade out)", I think you would really dig that one musically, vocally, lyrically, and visually.
Great build up then nice wind down at the end.
How many people know Prefame/pre Walking Dead Norman Reedus is in this video?
you should check out No Surprises
Arguably the closest thing to a Power Ballad they have ever done. "Complaint Rock" at its best ;) Put your lighters up!

The song Creep is what they're most famous for, which has been covered by a ton of other bands. For something that rocks a little more, check out Paranoid Android, There There, Karma Police, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.
"Do y'all still own a radio?" and she said " if you do I oughta knock you in the head." Lmao 😂 I'm giving a thumbs up just for that comment alone. She's not wrong tho. 😂😂😂

@@olympian3 you are talking about one of the greatest bands ever, compared to a bunch of orange tinted sunglasses wearing assholes. Comparing Radiohead to u2 is like comparing Jimi Hendrix to anybody who is worse than jimi Hendrix. U2 is the fucking worst. Especially when they forced that album onto my iTunes account. But they already sucked decades before that. Nobody in their right mind likes u2, as they should not. . . Cuz u2 is terrible. Meanwhile Radiohead actually is amazing and not pretentious and just speaks for itself without wearing cool glasses or pretending to care about the world. They just make good music. U2 makes shit. They always have made shit. That’s all they can make. I’ve lived my whole life plagued by stupid u2 shit and Radiohead was my only savior. And jimi.

@@kf8346 Alright, chill I get it, but fact is that ed has discussed his appreciation for them
this song is about plastic surgery
Karma Police
I think Creep is a logical next choice. One of my favorites.
I got the sense that its a boy singing about his parents who dont really love each other but are putting a front on which wears them out. As such the boy wishes he could be who they wanted all the time as he feels he is too putting up a front which wears him out. Hence the child symbolism in the video of being pushed in a shopping cart and that shot at the end.
@jasontaverner391
3 жыл бұрын
@Nishta Anand It's strange that both this song, and Pulp's "Common People" video came out in the same month, and both featured being pushed inside a shopping cart. I think this song is simply about consumerism. Radiohead have espoused anti-capitalist politics.
“U2 vibes but with a deeper conscience.”
Who knew that Simple Jack could sing like that.
Too mellow.....but mellow can be good depending on song and mood. This one is sort of boring, I think you would of been feeling asleep if it went on any longer... For reals I know I was about to.
High n dry and creep are better songs by radiohead👍
fake plastic trees is a song I always skip. Try 2+2=5.
